We’ll no longer condone ridiculing of our members with marital issues-AGN fumes

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has averred that it would no longer condone public ridiculing of its members experiencing cracks in their marriage.

TheNewsGuru reports that in the past few days, popular entertainers such as Annie Idibia, Tonto Dikeh, and Nedu Wazobia have been in the news over the intense crises in their marriages and relationship.

Sadly, the incidents have also witnessed several leaked audio conversations of the affected movie stars on social media.

Reacting via an Instagram post on Friday, Emeka Rollas, AGN’s president, condemned those behind the release of the leaked audios without the approval of the parties affected.

“Events of the last few days have shown that actresses are now marked for blackmail especially hinging it on the basis of a relationship gone awry,” he said.

“But should it be a reason for publishing private conversations without consent of the other party?

“We shall use this one to set an example to serve as a deterrent to all other persons including bloggers presently profiling actresses for blackmail to have a rethink.

“We will no longer fold our hands and watch our members taken to public ridicule via invasion of privacy.”

Rollas said that the AGN is also weighing sanctions against its members that take to social media to condemn their colleagues, thereby causing discord in the body.

“We are also looking into cases where our certified members have taken to social media to call fellow members out or make statements that can bring disrepute to our Guild or cause disharmony among members.

Celebrity marriages under demonic attack – Emeka Rollas

National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has said that marriages and relationships of many Nigerian celebrities are under attack by demonic forces.

Rollas took to his Instagram page to state that such forces are using blackmailers and bloggers to hack voice notes and private conversations of many.

He also prayed for celebrity marriages and relationships in the country saying, “Please pray for Marriages and relationships of celebrities recently under attack by demonic forces using blackmailers/bloggers to hack voice notes and private conversations of many. Oh God dispossess them of these wicked gadgets in Jesus name”.

In a related development, Gambian-born Ghanaian actress Princess Shyngle, has advised African female celebrities to stop dating and marrying ‘attention seekers’ that could ruin their lives using social media.

Shyngle gave the advice on her official Instagram account on Thursday.

According to her, careers of many African female celebrities had been destroyed because of unfaithful marriage.

She wrote, “African female celebrities are trying. We will just be on our own and the devil will come into your life in disguise as a man looking for love and a wife.

“We fall for it, thinking we have found a soulmate and trust him completely, but by the time we realise he is the devil himself, it is too late.”

The actress noted that if one decided to quietly dump them and walk away, the supposed lover would run to social media to wreak havoc.

“They did this to get little fame and attention but may God protect us from such men,” Shyngle prayed.

Mary Njoku, Ninalowo berate AGN president for saying ‘BBNaija evictees unfit for Nollywood’

Mary Njoku and Bolanle Ninalowo have slammed Emeka Rollas, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), for saying Nollywood is not a dumping ground for BBNaija evictees.

TheNewsGuru recalls that on Sunday, the AGN president had in an Instagram post shared his thoughts on the latest trend of filmmakers using former BBNaija housemates in movies as some form of marketing strategy.

His post had come after the eviction of Boma, Tega, Michael, and Peace from the reality show.

“Nollywood! Not a dumping ground for evictees!!! Case closed,” he had written.

However Rollas’s remark has continued to spark controversy among actors.

In his reaction, Ninalowo disagreed with the opinion of the AGN president in a post via his Instagram page, saying “you’re wrong.”

“This one hit me hard! Oga @emekarollas, you’re wrong for this one, baba!!! Abeg, who is Nollywood for? Maka needs to be enlightened,” he wrote in the now-deleted post.

In the same vein, Njoku said Nollywood is Nigeria’s number one rehabilitation centre, adding that the industry “is home to all.”

“Nollywood is Nigeria’s number one rehabilitation centre. She’s indeed a dumping for all society rejects. An employer of unemployable. A shelter to all who have lost their ways. A mother to the confused and misunderstood. She doesn’t judge,” she wrote.

“She doesn’t care about your past. She doesn’t care about what the world thinks of you. She doesn’t discriminate. She holds you till find your feet in the society.

“Anyone can make it in Nollywood. She gives a clean slate to anyone who wants a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th chance. She never stops giving.

“Majority of us were unemployable in the society when we joined Nollywood. No degree. No certificates.

“If not for Nollywood so many people would have committed suicide because of stigmatisation and discrimination. Nollywood is home to All.

“She is life to anyone who wants to live. Remember that.”

This comes after Tega, Boma, Peace and Michael were evicted from the shows and Tega and Boma declared their interest in the movie industry.

When the show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu asked Tega about her sensual activities with Boma in the house, Tega stated that they were acting a script since they are both good actors.

She went on to say that what she did with Boma in the house was just a strategy between them to entertain viewers of the reality TV show.

  • Actors Guild releases phone number to lodge complaints against sexual assault

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) says it has introduced communication links to challenge sexual assault and other forms of abuses on actors in Nollywood.

According to NAN, Emeka Rollas, AGN president, broke the news in Lagos on Thursday.

Rollas said the measure became imperative following recent cases of alleged rape and sexual molestation of some individuals in the industry.

He said he had already issued directive to Ronnie Dikko, his aide on sexual harassment and related abuses, to open communication links on the issue.

“The recent revelation of alleged rape and sexual molestation on some individuals in the film industry is calling for serious attention and I must put an end to such an abuse,” he said.

“It doesn’t speak well of us and of me as the president of AGN, I must restore sanity into the Nollywood industry as part of my commitments toward protecting my members and the image of this noble body.

“I have told my SSA to quickly open a special telephone line and an e-mail address through which the victims of this immoral act can reach out directly to the Guild.

“This will enable us seek redress and offer counseling process for complete healing to victims of sexual abuse.”

He urged all survivors of sexual abuse, molestation, financial demands and rape to make the best use of the links to send their petitions and complaints to the guild.

The AGN president specifically directed victims to Dikko and also gave the e-mail address as: “abuses@actorsguidofnigeria.com, or call 0705 397 5522 for direct information”.

According to him, the communication lines will be opened and all related matters will be treated with strict confidentiality and respect of victims.

The development comes amidst recent cases of sexual assault and murder in the country.

  • Emeka Rollas defends decision making Elijah Abbo Guild patron

Emeka Rollas defends decision making Elijah Abbo Guild patron

Emeka Rollas, President of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria has reacted to the online attack led by Hilda Dokubo against the appointment of Senator Elisha Abbo as a patron of the guild.

In a recent interview, Rollas defended the guild’s decision while loosely accusing Hilda Dokubo and Kate Henshaw of attempting to taint the image of the guild.

Rather than take the issues up on social media, the guild’s president insisted that the aggrieved ladies should have written to the guild expressing their grievances. He added that while social media was no medium of governance for the guild, Dokubo and Henshaw have been of no impact to the guild despite being Nollywood actors for over 20 years.

Rollas also questioned their membership status, stating that he presided over a guild of 2 million members and could not verify if they have been participating members in the last two years.

“She would have written a letter to the guild may be in form of a petition. I am sure the committee that presented his name screened and eventually approved that he be made a national patron to represent the North East zone where he is from. The man in question has not been proven to be a serial woman beater”, Rollas told Plus TV.

In her reaction, Kate Henshaw posted a video on her Instagram page saying Rollas should make the organisation a guild worthy of note.

“You didn’t bother to do your research on the pedigree of the person whom you confer the title on. You are not a president unto yourself. You are a president of an association of whom you said I am not a member of. AGN is not a political group, it is not a club. When there is trouble you people need these faces to help confer legitimacy on your causes, but when it suits you, you go outside to invite people who do not have respect for a fellow human being”, she said.

Also in a series of tweets, the veteran actress responded to Rollas’ accusation including his questioning of her membership. Henshaw shared letters sent to her via the President’s secretary offering her the conferment of veteran actor of the guild.

Emeka Rollas is yet to react to Henshaw’s claims as at the time of filing this report.

“But after four years later, I had a relapse but this time I chose to go to America to have the second surgery. Most people talking about me did not know what happened because they heard anal they started questioning if I was gay.

I did not address the issue of my sexuality earlier because it would have ran into a case of Daddy Freeze and Pentecostal church.

“For crying out loud I have seven kids with my wife, if I can have sex with my wife and have children why would I be looking the other way.
