Defection: We’ll not miss Uduaghan – APC

The Delta Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it would not miss the former governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, who defected from APC to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.

The APC announced this on Monday in statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Sylvester Imonina in Asaba, while reacting to Uduaghan’s defection.

According to the statement, the Delta APC will not miss him in any way because APC accommodated him out of compassion as an orphaned politician displaced by the same PDP he has returned to. We wish him well.

“In the past two weeks, there have been rumours of perfection of plans by the former Governor to defect to the PDP. Today, the 28th of September, 2020, those behind the rumour have been justified by the formal defection by him to the PDP.

“Well, for records purpose, Gov. Uduaghan came into APC as a loner and he has returned to where he came from in the same way.

“In politics and in line with freedom of association as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, he has the right to choose whosoever to associate with for whatever reasons.

“However, he should not forget the fact that when the PDP was uninhabitable for him, he was housed by Delta APC, despite the fact that he did not come to APC with anybody.

BREAKING: I am back home, Uduaghan proclaims after returning from APC to PDP

The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has formally addressed his return from the All Progressives Congress (APC) back to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Uduaghan’s return from the APC to the PDP have been nothing but speculative, but the former Governor confirmed the development on Monday.

“I am back home. I am back to join forces with other party greats to strengthen our party, the largest Party in Africa -PDP! Haven tasted the other side, it feels refreshing to be back home! Thank you all for receiving me back. It feels like I never left. God bless you,” the former Governor proclaimed on Monday.

Recall that Uduaghan, the immediate past Governor of Delta under the platform of the PDP between 2007 and 2015, in 2018 defected from the PDP to the APC to nurse his Senate ambition for the 2019 general elections, which he eventually lost.

Attending an APC caucus meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the former Governor had said his defection from the PDP to the APC was informed by his desire to promote peace and development in the Niger Delta.

Upon leaving the APC, Uduaghan rejoined the PDP at his Unit 1, Ward 6, Abigborodo in Warri North local government area of the State, arriving at the venue of the ceremony with thousands of supporters at about 11:40 am.

The former Governor was accompanied to the defection ground by the member representing Warri Federal Constituency, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi and the PDP Deputy Chairman (Delta South), Mr Val Aroyinka.

Ex-Delta Gov, Emmanuel Uduaghan yields to pressure, abandons APC for PDP

Immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan is set to officially return to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC), TheNewsGuru.com, TNG can authoritatively report.

TNG reports that Dr Uduaghan who governed the state from 2007 to 2015 under the PDP platform left for the APC in August 2018.

According to authoritative sources, Dr Uduaghan’s decision to return to the PDP is based on months of intense, strategic meetings and lobbying initiated by his predecessor Chief James Onanefe Ibori; his successor and incumbent, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other leaders of the party in the state and at the national level.

Impeccable sources within the Delta State Government House also confirmed seeing the ex-governor around a couple of times meeting with Governor Okowa and other PDP power brokers in the state.

It was gathered that the misunderstandings which led to the ex-governor’s defection to the APC two years ago had all been resolved hence his readiness to return to the party.

Confirming the development, a prominent member of the PDP in the state and Uduaghan’s 2007-2015 administration said: “His Excellency, former Governor Uduaghan is joining us (PDP) soon. A big ceremony is being put in place by Governor Okowa to welcome him to the family where he rightly belongs. We are happy that our leader is coming back”, top member of the then Uduaghan’s administration confided in this reporter.

TNG reports that aside ruling the state for eight years, the former governor served as Secretary to the State Government under the Ibori administration. He was also a former commissioner for health in the state. The incumbent governor, Okowa also served as Secretary of State to the Uduaghan government before he was elected senator.

Meanwhile, the medical doctor turned administrator and politician is yet to issue any official statement concerning his return to the PDP.

  • Delta at 29: My watch as Delta State Governor; A reflection – James Ibori

Delta at 29: My watch as Delta State Governor; A reflection – James Ibori

    By James Onanefe Ibori

Let me begin by paying tribute to my predecessors in office who piloted the affairs of the State before the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) administration was inaugurated on May 29, 1999.

From Air Commodore Luke Chijiuba Ochulor (rtd) who was the pioneer Administrator on creation in 1991 to the first elected Governor, Olorogun Felix Ibru, after the demise of the civilian administration, Abdulkadir Shehu, Bassey Asuquo, Ibrahim Kefas, John Dungs and to Walter Feghabo who supervised the conduct of the election in 1999, and eventually handed over to me as Governor.

I want to say without fear of contradiction that Delta in its 29 years of existence has been a success story. It is indisputable that the State has overcome some very challenging times.

The Warri crisis was my administration’s first challenge. At the inauguration of the PDP administration on May 1999, Warri and its environs were boiling. There was a full-blown attack on Escravos on May 30, which spilled over to the surrounding villages and eventually reached the Warri metropolis.

The level of destruction was such that it shocked the entire country and dampened the joy of the transition to democracy.

Its genesis can be traced to 1997 when the Federal Government of the late Gen Sani Abacha created a number of Local Government Areas including Warri South-West LGA, with headquarters in Ogbe-Ijoh – an Ijaw town between Aladja and Warri Metropolis.

With the relocation of the headquarters of this LGA from Ogbe-Ijoh to Ogidigben, an Itsekiri town on the Atlantic coast, riots followed and hundreds of people died. Six Shell Nigeria (SPDC) installations were taken over by protesting Ijaw youths, leading to a drop in oil production.

As head of the PDP administration at the time, I knew I had to act swiftly to stem the destruction of life and property. I then summoned a meeting of the major ethnic groups in Warri at the Government House, Asaba.

I recall vividly that the meeting stalemated, as the leaders disagreed on almost every issue. I then directed that the leaders of the delegations be taken to a room in one of the VIP Guest Houses and left there until they reached an agreement.

One of the leaders said to me, “Governor, we will not speak to each other even if we stay there for days”. In response, I then said that was exactly my objective.

On reflection today, our modest efforts have been blessed with some level of peace and understanding. As if the ethnic discord was not enough, Asaba’s position as the State capital threw up a different challenge of its own.

During my campaign to be Governor of the state, it was clear to me that some leaders from the Delta South and Central Senatorial Districts were deeply unhappy with Asaba as the capital. Conversely, leaders from Delta North Senatorial District were very emphatic on the status of Asaba as the State capital, and they impressed on me to respect it if I became Governor. I assured them that I would always sleep in Asaba as long as duty did not take me out of the capital. This was my way of committing to the status of Asaba as capital.

Now, I look back with pride. Asaba is a capital city that everyone can be proud of. The PDP administration also set out to avoid the mistake of other states where only the capital was developed.

So we made sure that Delta did not become one city-state. Apart from Asaba and Warri, we identified another tier of development to include Agbor, Ughelli, Sapele, Oleh, Oghara, Abraka, Ogwashi-Uku, Burutu and Ozoro.

My prayer is for this dream to endure. Deltans will benefit from a multiplicity of urban centres with well-developed infrastructures. On the political level, I agonized over how to banish the feeling of second class citizenship of some sections of the State.

Many, who felt left out in the political arrangement, especially, the Ijaws of Warri, were brought into government at the local and the State levels.

We held tenaciously to the PDP mantra of equity and justice. And this gave birth to the principle of power rotation.

The result is that for the first time in Nigeria’s history, a minority ethnic group, the Itsekiri, produced the Governor of the State.

Most of all, I am pleased to note that today, all three Senatorial Zones have produced the Governor of the State.

In 2007 the baton of leadership went to Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, an Itsekiri from Delta South Senatorial District and from him to Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, an Owa man from Delta North.

I thank God for their lives and their commitment to Delta State. And to all those who will come after them, I wish fair weather, smooth sailing, but most of all, I wish them inspired leadership as they pilot this most strategic state in Nigeria to greater heights.

The fourth issue that engaged our attention was true federalism and Resource Control. I embraced it for obvious reasons. We won some battles; more will surely come for the journey has just begun. Some of us are paying the price today for our perceived audacity.

Some other comrades in the course of the struggle have made the supreme sacrifice. May we never forget them. On a personal note, my greatest regret is that I’m not there with you to savour this special moment.

However, I must put on record on this historic day, my gratitude to the people of Delta State for the opportunity given me to serve as Governor from 1999 to 2007.

And it is to the people that I have reserved my last and greatest tribute. I also say to them that the journey has not been without its challenges, but we have made much progress.

Congratulations on this your well-deserved celebration. I wish you and our dear state peace, unity, and prosperity in the years ahead.

Delta State anniversary video sparks reaction from ex-Governor

A documentary video created by the Delta State Government to mark the State 29th anniversary has sparked a reaction from the former Governor of the State, Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the video, which highlighted the successes of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration, listed the Governors, who have served the State since its creation on 27 August 1991.

The video captured, after former Governor James Ibori and before former Governor Uduaghan, Rt. Hon. Prince Sam Obi, who served the State as Governor in acting capacity between 10 November 2010 and 10 January 2011.

    See video below (press play):

    https://twitter.com/DSGovernment/status/1298905164544385024

Reacting, former Governor Uduaghan, the immediate past Governor of the State, described the video as “Delta anniversary history magic”.

“Anybody who says Gov James Onanefe Ibori handed over to his cousin is NOW A LIAR. The anniversary video has corrected that,” Uduaghan said.

TNG reports the Delta State House of Assembly in December 2019 passed the Governor and Deputy Governor Pension Rights and Other Benefits (Amendment) Bill 2019 into law, making persons who have served the State as Governors in acting capacity beneficiaries of full pension.

The bill, TNG recalls, caused rancour and heated up the polity after it was first introduced to the House, but was, however, passed at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Sheriff Oborevwori.

The passage of the bill accommodated the former Acting Governor in the Pension law, and it followed a motion to that effect by the House Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere, and seconded by the Deputy Majority Whip of the House, Hon Fred Martins.

The Governor and Deputy Governor Pension Rights and Other Benefits (Amendment) Bill 2019, which was read for the first time on 22nd of October 2019 by Tim Owhofere as the Majority Leader, was said to have been pushed by Governor Okowa.

The bill, eventually signed into law by Okowa, was criticized as crude for unnecessarily accruing so much benefits Obi, who acted as Governor in 2010 for only two months when Uduaghan’s election was annulled by the Court of Appeal.

By the passage of the bill into law, Obi is entitled to an annual salary of the incumbent Deputy Governor, and the formulae for calculation of his pension and gratuity will have 300% as final pay for gratuity while 70% as final pay for pension.

Obi, by the power of the bill, also now enjoy free medical treatment within Nigeria and abroad where necessary, subjected to the approval of the serving Governor. Taxpayers will also foot his 15 days annual vacation anywhere within Nigeria.

As former Acting Governor, Obi will also be entitled to have his luxury vehicle and back up cars changed every two years and a new house built for him anywhere he chooses in Nigeria, with a retinue of domestic staff and security personnel paid from the public purse, office with four staff paid for by the State.

  • Delta ex-Gov, Uduaghan reacts as Okowa’s daughter contracts COVID-19

The immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has advised citizens to do more for themselves, saying the various arms of government are doing their best to contain the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Uduaghan gave the advice on Friday as Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his wife, Edith go on self isolation after one their daughters tested positive for the dreadful virus.

“From the stage of denial, we have gradually moved into the stage of asking this question: how careful can we be? It is now obvious that COVID-19 is right here with us. More worrisome is that, people whom we believe are quite careful are contacting it,” Uduaghan stated.

Recall that Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases escalated to 22,614 on Thursday with 594 new cases announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The big surprise was Delta, where new infections surged by 106, in the last 24 hours.

Delta was 9th on the cumulative leaderboard with 609 cases, before Thursday’s tally. With 709 cases, it will now leapfrog Kaduna to claim the 8th position behind Ogun that recorded just 12 cases on Thursday, taking its tally to 733 cases, with Lagos, as usual recording the highest cases of 159, and Ondo coming next to Delta with 44 cases.

“Do we really know the complete mode of transmission? Is it not possible that the mode of transmission is more than what the scientists are currently telling us. No doubt it is a new illness, so we may not know everything about it. How careful can we be? These questions have no concrete answers” Uduaghan stated.

While advising citizens to “observe the basic precautions that you have been reading and hearing of over and over,” the former Governor said, “being careful has no limits. Regular handwashing and/or use of sanitizer, use of face masks, physical/social distancing, elbow coverage of face while coughing or sneezing etc, avoiding crowded places, boosting your immunity with Vitamins C & D and Zinc tablets… are just the minimum”.

Uduaghan advised citizens to take seriously healthy diet, exercises, cleaning of surfaces regularly with soap and water, bleach, dettol, spirits or savlon, etc.

“Monitoring of domestic staff also very important; drivers, stewards, cooks, orderlies, security staff and PAs who have to go in and out of our homes or offices are becoming sources of infection.

“Minimize social visits and social gatherings. Our outing should be more for economic activities. Let’s try and do more for ourselves, while the various arms of Government are doing their best. May God heal those who currently have the disease IJN,” Uduaghan stated.

    Omo-Agege salutes Uduaghan at 65

At 65, former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan has become an icon of inspiration for many young Nigerians, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has said.

According to Senator Omo-Agege, Dr. Uduaghan’s humble beginning, commitment towards forging peace, humanitarian service and nationalistic disposition are among qualities that distinguish him as one of the great sons of Delta State in the service of national interest.

In a press statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Yomi Odunuga to mark Dr. Uduaghan’s 65th birthday, Senator Omo-Agege expressed optimism that many young Nigerians would be further inspired with the story of how the former governor beat many odds in his life’s journey.

“I felicitate with one of my dear brothers from Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as he celebrates his 65th birthday and I pray that he continues to wax stronger on all fronts.

“The promising young man who began work as a medical officer at the Delta Steel Company in 1983 and rose to become Commissioner for Health, Secretary to the Delta State Government and a two-term governor of our dear state is not only known for infrastructure but also for being people-focused.

“As governor and as one of the uncommon peacemakers in the Niger Delta region, Dr. Uduaghan saw ahead in his quest for development and he was one of those whose negotiations and encouragement motivated agitators to allow peace to reign.

“I pray that God grants Dr Uduaghan a long, fulfilling life as he continues to contribute towards the progress of Delta State and our country, Nigeria,” he stated.

Governorship poll: Uduaghan hopeful of APC victory in Delta

Former Delta Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, on Saturday expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious in the Saturday’s governorship and assembly elections.

Uduaghan said this shortly after he cast his vote at about 12:05 a.m. in his hometown, Abigborodo in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta.

‘‘We are optimistic of winning the election but let me get the reports first because I don’t know what is happening in other areas.

‘‘I do not know whether people are behaving or misbehaving or there are security challenges in other areas. So, it is difficult to give verdict but I am optimistic,’’ he said.

Uduaghan commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the early arrival of voting materials in Abigborodo

On the security beefed up in Sapele, the former governor said it might not be unconnected with the violence in the last Presidential and National Assembly elections in which two persons were allegedly killed.

‘‘I think the security is tighter in these elections because of what happened in the previous elections.

‘‘The security agencies usually evaluate what is on ground based on information and of course, intelligence report.

‘‘So, maybe the security arrangement this time was because of the previous experience,’’ he said.

Uduaghan, however, expressed joy at the turnout of voters.

Delta Guber poll: Uduaghan fires back at his former Commissioner

Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Delta State Governor, who lost the National Assembly elections as Delta Central Senatorial District candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has fired back at Funkekeme Solomon.

TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports Solomon who served under Uduaghan as commissioner for works, had in his capacity as Director General of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organization, accused the former Governor of plotting to disrupt the March 9 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the State.

Addressing a press conference, Solomon had said impeccable sources within the APC confirmed with certainty that the master-minds behind the plan to disrupt the elections also included the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and Chief Great Ogboru, APC governorship candidate in the state.

He said Uduaghan, Oshiomhole and Ogboru planned to use ex-militants dressed in military uniforms to cause mayhem and disrupt the forthcoming elections in the state.

Reacting in a statement, Uduaghan said, neither the APC National Chairman nor himself had been known to be violent people.

The statement reads: “My brother, my friend, my former Commissioner for Works, Funkekeme Solomon, I celebrate you today and always.

“The anti-Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan virus has bitten you. Thought you will be the last person to manifest the symptoms. I was wrong.

“As an inner caucus member of my team for over 14 years, I know you are well aware of my commitment and dedication to promoting peace. In and out of Government I will continue to do so. I have always preached against election violence.

“You and I prepared for, executed and won several elections. Did we ever budget for thuggery? Did we ever buy guns or military uniforms?

“I just contested for Senate in our Senatorial District. Where you told I used military uniforms or guns, or even any other weapon?

“The APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, and I, have never been known to be violent people. We know those who have history of cultism and violence.

“I pray you get what you have been promised, which has pushed you to raise the false alarm against us. Many who travelled this route are getting disappointed as they are coming out empty handed.

“Please pray very hard to drop the “hate spirit”. Take care and remember always, “Back tyre nor dey overtake front tyre”.

  • Guber poll: Unease as PDP alleges APC planning to disrupt March 9 elections in Delta

Guber poll: Unease as PDP alleges APC planning to disrupt March 9 elections in Delta

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has revealed alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use ex-militants dressed in military uniforms to cause mayhem and disrupt the forthcoming March 9 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.

Director General of the Delta State PDP Campaign Organization, Funkekeme Solomon made the allegation at a press briefing, where he said impeccable sources within the APC confirmed with certainty that the master-minds behind the devious plan include the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Chief Great Ogboru, APC governorship candidate in the state.

“The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has received impeccable Information that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in its hell bent, do-or-die efforts to capture Delta State at all costs, and enslave Deltans with a wicked and confused APC government, has set a dangerous plan in motion to mobilize a large number of ex- militants, move them into a concealed location, provide them with military uniforms, arm them with weapons and filter them into specific areas of Delta State during the March 9, 2019 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

    “We have been informed that these ex-militants, when fully dressed as military personnel and armed with weapons, will now be deployed and filtered into PDP strongholds, particularly in the Riverine areas where they are familiar with the terrain and in places like Delta North which is easy to navigate, with strict instructions to perform the following dirty actions;

“To psychologically disorganize the PDP members in the identified areas by arresting and/or placing key members of His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Cabinet and top PDP officials of the State, under forced house arrest in order to dissolve their resolve, quarantine them to prevent free movement to go and cast their votes and weaken the stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party in those areas.

“To frighten and intimidate innocent citizens who will come out to vote on March 9, harass and brutalize PDP leaders and supporters who eventually make it to the polling centres in order to stop them from voting en masse and deliberately cause mayhem at polling units and collation centres, with the obvious intention to disrupt the electoral process and eventually cause the cancellation of the elections where they know the APC will be defeated heavily.

“To give law abiding citizens and non indigenes residing, especially in Delta Central, the “Lagos Treatment” by Identifying and violently stopping them from voting and destroying electoral materials where voting has actually taken place, just as they shamelessly did in Okota in Lagos state, during the February 23, 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections

“To ensure that they attack the electoral process to disrupt the activities of INEC officials with the deliberate intention to postpone the State’s election to enable them perfect their rigging arrangements in favour of the APC candidates by deploying more security on the rescheduled date.

“Even as we raise this alarm, we have it on good authority that these ex-militants have already been assembled and have been moved into a covert and concealed location where they will be properly debriefed and provided with their uniforms and arms with which to impersonate and then put on standby until the time when they will be driven or ferried to their designated election areas and unleashed on innocent Deltans who are going to perform their civic responsibility.

“Our impeccable sources within the APC confirm with certainty that the master-minds behind this devious plan include the APC National Chairman, Ex-Comrade Adams Oshiomole, former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, who was recently trounced convincingly in the Delta South Senatorial election by the PDP and Chief Great Ogboru, serial loser to PDP, as well as top officials of APC in Abuja and other APC stakeholders in Delta State.

“Intelligence reports have it that the execution of the plan is scheduled to commence a few days to March 9, 2019 election. The aim is to suppress the will of the people and prevent them from voting for PDP, thereby providing the opportunity for the APC to manipulate and increase the figures from a visibly low turn out, in favour of their candidates.

“We have raised this alarm to alert Deltans and put the global community on notice that the All Progressives Congress, APC has declared war on ordinary civilians and Deltans because they want to “capture” Delta State and turn the people into slaves.

“They have no remorse whatsoever about the bloody consequences and the actual and collateral damage of their dangerous plan so long as they “win” Delta State in the Governorship election.

“We recall vividly that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ex-Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, had boasted and vowed repeatedly and with audacity that his ultimate ambition is to unseat the PDP and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the Governor of Delta State and conquer Delta State as if Deltans are slaves, and he will unleash the full weight and power of the “Federal might” to achieve this objective.

“And to fulfill this crazy obsession and insane desire, the APC Chairman ex-comrade Oshiomhole, has connived with ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who is still very bitter that he could not get an automatic ticket as the PDP Delta South Senatorial candidate and whose “bad belle” for PDP has been increased with his embarrassing defeat at the just concluded Senatorial election as well as Chief Great Ogboru, who is ready to do a deal even with the devil himself, in order to fulfill his vaunting ambition to govern Delta State, and they are hell bent on turning Delta State into a theatre of war and unleash a potential orgy of blood bath in the State, once these ex-militants are let loose on the innocent people of our dear State.

“The PDP, as a responsible, law abiding political party, whose main objective is to give Deltans quality governance and ensure a State where the people will live freely as stakeholders and not slaves, will do everything within its powers to ensure that our members and supporters always remain on the right side of the law. That is why we are drawing the attention of Mr. President, the hierarchy and high command of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces to be aware of what is happening in Delta State and to appeal to them to be at the lookout for impostors wearing military and mobile police uniforms, to call their men to order to desist from aiding and abetting politicians in their nefarious acts to break the law, breach the security and disrupt the electoral process.

“We are thus calling on the international community and the European Union, African Union and local observers to prevail on all the authorities involved with the March 9 elections, including the security agencies and INEC, to exhibit professional neutrality and maintain a level playing field during the elections, in order to avert an impending bloodbath on election day. We shudder to imagine the consequences of their actions if hired thugs are allowed to have a field day.

“We must commend our leaders and supporters who have displayed herculean patience and maximum restraint and endurance in the face of these consistently disturbing and annoying provocations. We urge our members to continue to maintain this admirable and unshakeable perseverance and to turn out en masse again on March 9, just as they did on February 23, to deliver an even more emphatic and comprehensive victory for the PDP in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

“Let us sound it loud and clear that the PDP will not allow itself to be intimidated or harassed by anybody as we march towards another resounding and definitive victory. It has become even more critical now for the people to say NO to APC and we urge our members and supporters to be extremely vigilant and ensure that every attempt to disrupt the elections are vehemently resisted, every attempt at infraction of the electoral process is thwarted and every act of sabotage and violence is recorded and captured. We MUST Deny these agents of darkness freedom of action in our various units, wards, local governments and State.

“We are fully aware that in addition to the plot to engage ex-militants as part of the grand design, thugs have also been contracted and have arrived Delta from neighbouring Edo State already, and have been instructed and assigned to carry out the hatchet job to disrupt the elections.

“The global community will be watching Delta State and indeed the Niger Delta States keenly and we will expose the APC and their dirty tricks for the whole world to see, if they decide to actualize their plan to “capture” and annex the South South States by force and rigging.

“We thus urge all the people of Delta State not to loose sight of what is important which is to remain committed to the ideologies of the Peoples Democratic Party and His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and ensure that no amount of pressure or victimisation will suppress their right to vote the candidate of their choice.

“We wish to state here that the inherent peace in the State, which the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, with the solid support of Deltans, including our revered traditional rulers and our respected spiritual fathers, leaders, elders and great Delta youths, is of great importance and must be maintained and guarded jealously by every Deltan who has the interest and wellbeing of the State at heart.

“Our appeal therefore is to caution against acts aimed at destabilising the peace enjoyed presently in the State in the name of politics and we hereby call on the appropriate international organisations, observers and monitors to take note of the desperate actions of the opposition party, APC to truncate our electoral process.

“No power can be greater than the people’s power. The voice of the people is the voice of God. Power belongs to the people and PDP is the party of the people”.
