Pastor Adeboye: “I walked barefoot through secondary school”

Pastor Enoch Adeboye has recounted his journey from humble beginning, walking barefoot through secondary school and hailing from a village once absent on Nigeria’s map.

Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), also recounted moments from his early ministry when resources were sparse and faith was his only currency.

Delivering sermon at the 50th anniversary celebration of the All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM) in Abuja on Friday, Adeboye highlighted God’s faithfulness and ability to provide assistance in times of need.

The Pastor, revered for his humility and faith, described God as the ultimate promoter.

He encouraged Nigerians not to judge their worth by the present hardship, assuring them that God sees and is able to lift anyone to greatness.

The Clergy also  encouraged Nigerians to trust in God’s help during times of trouble.

“Your promotion is not in the hand of man. Your promotion is in the hand of God,” he said.

Adeboye praised ACFM’s founder, Rev. Williams Okoye, describing him as a solid man of God who has remained steadfast in his faith despite challenges and successes.

According to him, Okoye’s commitment to God has been a source of inspiration for all to emulate.

Okoye, the host and General Overseer, ACFM, while reflecting on the church’s journey, expressed gratitude for God’s faithfulness over the past 50 years.

The former Aso Rock chaplain said that over the past 50 years, the Church had faced trials and seasons of uncertainty, adding that God’s consistency and character have been the church’s guiding light.

“From that modest beginning in a “batcher”, a make-shift structure, ACFM has grown into a global mission with Churches across Nigeria.

“It also has branches in countries like Rwanda, Uganda in East Africa and Burkiso Faso in West Africa.

“The theme of the anniversary, “God our Helper” culled from 1 Samuel 7:12, is not only appropriate but also timing.

“The mission is to bring people to Jesus Christ and develop them to Christ-like maturity and equip them for God’s ministry in the Church and the world,” he said.

Okoye said that, acknowledging and thanking God for His mercies, no matter how small, was essential for spiritual growth and national transformation.

“Only the grace of God and His faithfulness have brought us thus far,” he said.

He said that the church had contributed to national transformation in the past 50 years by pastoring two Nigerian presidents without any corruption or scandal.

“The church has also developed materials and held powerful meetings to promote national transformation, which have had a lasting impact on the country,” he said.

He expressed optimism about the church’s future, believing that God will continue to guide and bless ACFM as it prepares for the next chapter in its history.

A former Senate President  Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, expressed gratitude to God for His guidance and protection throughout his public service career.

Anyim credited the church for playing a significant role in his early life as a Christian in Abuja. He congratulated the Church on its 50th anniversary and thanked God for His mercy.

Anyim emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong connection with God, particularly in public service.

The former Senate President expressed confidence in the church’s legacy and encouraged others to join in celebrating its achievements.

Mr Ifeanyi Odedo, a former elder of the Church, also expressed gratitude for the impact the church had in his life and ministry.

In an interview with newsmen, Odedo shared his 20-year journey with ACFM, highlighting the church’s role in shaping his christian character, integrity and purposefulness.

He credited ACFM with forming his christian foundation, which he has carried into his various roles and ministries.

He said that the church’s teachings and mentorship prepared him for his position as the National President of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International Nigeria.

Odedo praised ACFM’s influence in the Nigerian society, citing the church’s contributions to spiritual, physical and economic stability.

He also acknowledged the role of ACFM’s General Overseer in mentoring leaders and shaping the nation’s spiritual landscape.

The Chairman Planning Committee for the Church’s 50th anniversary, Pastor Titus Omolewa, attributed the success of the planning process to God’s guidance and support.

He acknowledged that organising the golden jubilee celebration had not been easy, and praised God for providing the strength, grace and teamwork needed to overcome obstacles.

“It has not been very easy, but God has always been there to help us,” he said.

The Church has dedicated three days of praises to God for the journey so far, as part of activities to mark its 50th anniversary.

  • God told me my first born will die if… – Pastor Adeboye

God told me my first born will die if… – Pastor Adeboye

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has disclosed God once told him that his first born will die if he leaves the church.

Pastor Adeboye made the disclosure during the June edition of the Holy Ghost Service, titled “Destined for Greatness (Part 2)” held on Saturday at the Redemption City of God in Ogun State.

“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another.

“But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die’,” Pastor Adeboye said.

The RCCG pastor, fondly referred to as Daddy GO, made the disclosure while speaking on the theme of divine direction and spiritual steadfastness.

Drawing reference from a message earlier delivered by his son, Pastor Leke, Adeboye expressed concern over the growing trend among young Christians who frequently switch churches, often introducing themselves as first-time visitors in every new place they attend.

He noted that at the time, RCCG was relatively obscure, with its headquarters located in a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Even though he was a university lecturer, he said God commanded him to serve under his spiritual mentor, who had no formal education.

“I was a lecturer at the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay,” he said.

Pastor Adeboye urged young believers to seek divine direction and remain where God places them, rather than chasing trends or personal preferences.

“Discover where God wants you to stay, and stay there,” he advised.

He also clarified that his message was not intended to suggest that RCCG is superior to other Christian denominations.

“I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” Adeboye said.

Pastor Adeboye under fire over “RCCG governing council soon holding meeting on moon” remark

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, a General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has revealed that  the church’s Governing Council will soon convene its meeting on the moon, according to God’s revelation to him.

TheNewsGuru reports that the clergyman made this known during a recent church event, where he emphasized that this revelation is a direct communication from God, and he is confident it will be fulfilled.

Adeboye said: “I am not doubting God, i know with him all things are possible. He told me, i told some of my people. He told me that a day is coming that when the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Governing Council wants to hold their meeting, they’ll hold it on the moon. I know it doesn’t make sense, but then, that’s God.

“When God says we’re going to be holding our governing council meetings on the moon, you don’t have to believe it, but he has spoken and it will come to pass.”

This announcement has incited mixed reactions among both church members and the wider public. While some may perceive it as a metaphorical or spiritual insight, others might interpret it as a literal forecast.

How I slumped while preaching in Ilesha- Pastor Adeboye narrates close to death experience

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed his struggle for life during an evangelism programmes in the church about seven years ago.

Adeboye recalled how he collapsed in Ilesha, saying his body broke down completely due to the effect of bad road.

Sharing the testimony at the annual Special Holy Ghost Service, themed “Joy Unspeakable”, the popular clergy also disclosed that for the first time, he spent Christmas in bed due to the health crisis.

He narrated that after he broke down in Ilesha, he was airlifted to the camp for the program but some persons attempted to stop the helicopter from taking off, leading to the damaging of one of the windows.

He said: “Seven years ago, during this same program, my body broke down completely due to the terrible road conditions.

“For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas Day in bed. The devil was certain he had finally got me.

“I collapsed in Ilesha, and to bring me back to the camp, we had to charter a helicopter. I was too weak to travel by road—if I had, I would not have made it”.

“Seven years later, I am still here! I want you to thank God for sparing my life”, Adeboye added after narrating the incident, urging the congregation to thank God for his life.

How to achieve landmark accomplishments in 2025 – Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on Tuesday, said the year 2025 would be a year of landmark achievements only for those engaged in doing the right thing.

Adeboye, the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide, said this during the annual Holy Ghost Rally at the University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan. The annual rally is entitled “Good News”.

Adeboye, who said he had been coming to UI since 1982, as directed by God, explained that his coming this time around was because someone needed to hear the good news.

He, therefore, urged the congregation, especially the students, to do the right things always and maintain godly relationships with all and sundry.

According to him, doing the right thing, which entails accepting the Good News of Jesus Christ, will translate to having a year of landmark achievements.

Citing Luke 2: 10-11, Adeboye said the good news could mean the healing of the sick, setting free of the captives and the miraculous breakthrough for the indigent.

“We are talking about Christ being resident in you and taking absolute control of your life; it’s beyond going to church and being part of church activities.

“You can prosper even as a student when you receive the good news; the one who has been failing will no longer fail because Christ in him is the source of success.

“When Christ comes to your aid, the fellow who has been failing can suddenly rise and surprise the professors.

“When Christ comes in, the one who has been stagnant can be promoted; He can do for you, in one year, what you are unable to achieve in many years,” he said.

Imagine doing PR for thieves – Actor Femi Jacobs drags Pastor Adeboye over comments on Naira

Nollywood actor, Femi Jacobs has called out the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye for attributing Nigeria’s current exchange rate stability to divine intervention.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the clergyman while speaking at the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, disclosed that the Naira could have plunged to ₦10,000 to $1 had the holy spirit not intervened.

Recall the exchange rate currently stands at ₦1,730 to a dollar.

Adeboye reflected on the challenges Nigeria faced before President Bola Tinubu’s administration, noting the country’s dependence on imported fuel despite the billions invested in refineries.

He said, “If we had not prayed, $1 would have been ₦10,000 by now. God stepped in and saved Nigeria”

“Before our president came in, everybody knew that the major reason we were having financial problems is the fact that a lot of money was being spent to import petrol.

“How can we be importing petrol when we have this resource in abundance here?

“We spent billions of naira on our refineries, and yet they didn’t work. So, we had to keep on importing fuel.

“That’s why when the president came in, the very first day he came, he said these money spent on importing petrol are canceled. We were all rejoicing but some people were angry — those making money from importing petrol.

“Then they decided to create problems, and suddenly, the naira began to decline rapidly.

“I called on my people to pray, and some people joined in. Because the way the naira was declining, if God had not intervened, by now, $1 would be about N10,000. But God stepped in.”

Reacting, the actor via the microblogging platform, X slammed the cleric over his remarks on Naira, noting that the church will be made to ‘disgracefully stand up for things they can’t stand up to.’’

He added that even though he will be considered unholy for his statement, he could not stand the idiocy.

In his words, “Dear Church, there is patience but there is also cowardice and whatever we can’t stand up to we will be made to disgracefully stand up for. Imagine doing PR for thieves? Yes, it will happen even more often now. The harvests of hypocritical cowardice are finally coming home. There are those who will consider me unholy for this, but this idiocy is turning my stomach.”

  • Pastor Adeboye: “Anointing does not reduce romance; I have pet name I call my wife”

Pastor Adeboye: “Anointing does not reduce romance; I have pet name I call my wife”

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer (G.O.) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has disclosed that he has a pet name that he calls his wife, Foluke, when they are alone and that anointing does not reduce romance in marriage.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Pastor Adeboye, fondly referred to as Daddy GO, made the disclosure on Friday, while revealing that when he is alone with Foluke, they are lovers, not Daddy G.O and Mummy G.O.

While admonishing spouses, especially pastors, to create quality time for themselves to spice things up in their marriage, Adeboye, via a post on his official Facebook page, stated that some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters.

He stressed that up until today, there is a pet name his wife calls him when they are alone and that he equally has a pet name that he calls her, adding that every time he calls her by that name, she cannot but smile.

He wrote: “The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy is allowed between a man and a woman. Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. Some of them don’t even play with their spouses anymore.

“Beloved, the anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage. Isaac was an anointed man of God and a successful businessman, yet in Genesis 26:8,  the Bible says he was being romantic with his wife:

“And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse. Make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again.

“If you are married, remember how you used to talk for long hours with your spouse before you got married and had children; revive that relationship again. Your spouse is still the same fellow you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.

“Once in a while, compose a poem for your spouse and read it to him or her in a romantic setting. Spice things up with pleasant surprises every now and then. Write a note and put it in his or her bag so that when they get to the office and open their bag, they will see the note and smile. Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors.

“Up until today, there is a pet name my wife calls me when we are alone. I equally have a pet name that I call her, and every time I call her by that name, she cannot but smile at me lovingly. When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy G.O and Mummy G.O. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married. Don’t let the romance die”.
