Crash: Pastor Adeboye says Devil wanted to take Osinbajo’s life

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said the devil wanted to take the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. “But God put the devil to shame”.

TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports Pastor Adeboye on Sunday in a live telecast from the RCCG headquarters, Lagos, asked his congregation to rise and give glory to God for saving the life of Osinbajo, whom he described as his son.

He asked the congregation to specially appreciate God on behalf of the Vice President and all the crew onboard, for his supernatural protection, saying Nigeria would not mourn.

In his sermon entitled: “Carriers of Glory”, Adeboye said for anybody to carry glory, he must be a true child of God and live a life of holiness.

Taking his lesson from the Bible in the book of Isiah 60:1-4, he said: “Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you:
All assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the hip.

“As a carrier of glory, anywhere you arrive the darkness will automatically disappear.

“When God begins to use you, the glory belongs to God and you, so you must learn to always give glory to God.

“Do not take the glory to yourself because it is not yours, it belongs to God,” Adeboye said.

Meanwhile, Osinbajo speaking during a thanksgiving service at the RCCG, City of Grace, Lokoja, said that no amount of thanksgiving and praises to God would be enough for saving his life and the nine others in the Saturday’s helicopter crash.

“Only God can take the glory for saving my life and that of the nine crew members on board,” he said.

He said that it would have been breaking news on local and international media that Vice President Osinbajo and nine crew members died in a helicopter crash, but God had not allowed such to happen.

“No amount of thanksgiving and praises to God would be enough for saving my life and nine crew on board.

“God is the one who can do all things, and only him can take the glory; we return the glory to him.

“We are here to say thank you, thank you Jesus. We bless his name forever and ever,” he said.

He prayed God to bless all the people that have celebrated with him in the state, the nation and the world at large.

“All I have to say is that we are grateful and we are moving to the next level; the Lord will uphold us to the next level and Kogi will be number one,” Osinbanjo said.

Adeboye speaks on a “New Name” at Holy Ghost Congress

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), says God has promised to give Nigerians new names to represent the change He has brought about them.

Adeboye said this on Monday night at the opening of the 2018 Holy Ghost Congress with the theme: “Glory Ahead’’.

The general overseer told his congregation that they had received the name of God that they would wear proudly, adding that the name would be a proof to others that they belonged to God.

“Before God ever created the world, He formed a plan to adopt us into his kingdom. It brings him great pleasure to make us part of His heavenly family.

“Whoever trusts in Jesus for forgiveness of sins, the one who is the `Name above all names,’’ receives a new name `Christian’’ and also a new life, a new purpose, and a new destiny.

“When God changes a name, it indicates that something new has happened or will happen to that person; a new relationship, a new character quality, or a new phase of life.

“We see a similar occurrence today because when a wife takes the name of her husband it represents a change in her life both in the eyes of God and of society.”

Adeboye said that those who would go to heaven would receive a new name and that they would no longer be called by their earthly names.

He charged the congregation to arise and shine for their light had come and the glory of the Lord had risen upon them.

He also called on them to arise and take their rightful place as the light of the world so that those in darkness would see.

The cleric admonished his congregation to make an impact by being “the salt of the earth; but that what good is the salt if it has lost its flavour?’’

“You and I, as Christians, are called the salt of the earth because our lives enhance and give meaning to this existence we call life.

“We are the salt of the earth because Jesus called us by that name and the implication is that we are to bring joy to people.

“Salt is a dietary mineral used for flavouring and preservation needed by all known living creatures and if abused, it can be harmful.

“However, it is also detrimental to have no salt intake because it regulates the water content in our bodies.

“Jesus used salt to describe how Christians are needed to bring balance and hope to an otherwise dying world,” he said.

Adeboye said that the glory of Christians would begin to manifest because they belonged to the body of Christ.

He told the congregation that no one would be able to shut any door against them again because God had the keys.

The six-day inter-Church event would end on Saturday, Dec. 8.

The Church has a strong presence in 197 countries around the world from where members are expected to attend the congress.

This year’s congress is the 21st in the series. It started in 1998 in Lekki with a massive attendance that nearly brought Lagos to a standstill.

Since then the attendance has continued to surge which is partly the reason the church build a new three-kilometre-by-three-kilometre auditorium called, `The New Arena’ to seat up to six million people.

Nigeria’s greatness lies in its human capital, not oil – Ezekwesili

A former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, says Nigeria’s greatness will emerge through human capital development programmes for youths and not oil or solid minerals.

Ezekwesili said this in Abuja at “ SHIFT,” an annual youth programme of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The SHIFT initiative uses unconventional ways such as dancing, singing, comedy, innovation and empowerment that youths could relate with to become Christians.

TheNewsGuru reports that the programme, which attracted youths from the FCT, Plateau, Niger as well as Kaduna and Nasarawa States, had as theme “Creativity Unleashed”.

She said such programmes would give youths a platform to showcase their hidden talents that needed to be unleashed and unlocked.

The former minister , however, advocated that youths should be supported through public policy, right instructions and investment in education, health and other social services.

According to her, supporting youths will enable them to acquire skills needed for self reliance.

“The more we emphasise education, talents, diligence, values, the more we have youths that can face competition with the rest of the world.

“Youths are the present leaders of the country; if we don’t prepare them to become people who are able to actualise their utmost potentials, what happens will affect them,’’ she said.

The National Youth Minister of RCCG, Pastor Precious Akingbade, urged youths to discover, develop and deploy their creativity to profitable ventures.

Akingbade advised them not to wait for the Federal Government to provide jobs for them when they could enroll in skills acquisition programmes.

“God in His wisdom has embedded into every man greatness; it is just for that individual to discover it, develop it and deploy it.

“In the process of deployment, opportunities would come and such an individual does not really need to wait for government jobs which are not just there.

“We have millions of young people who are just roaming around the streets today looking for white collar jobs but there are few individuals that I know that this programme has produced.

“They are doing well in the entertainment industry, in creative arts and they are making a lot of money and fulfilling their destiny in life,’’ he said.

The Regional Youth Pastor, Pastor Akin Meseko, , described `SHIFT’ as one of the largest gathering of youths in Nigeria and which had the blessings of the General Overseer of the RCCG Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Meseko said that there were a lot of things God had deposited inside every man that was waiting to be discovered and unleashed.

He, however, called on youths all over the country to join others in discovering their talents and skills to improve their lots.

TNG reports that the youths at the occasion showcased different talents such as singing, dancing, drama and public speaking.

How former Head of State almost killed me – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer (G. O.) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed pointers that former military Head of State, late General Sani Abacha made an attempt to assassinate him, but ended up dying.

The G. O. of the RCCG, who also revealed he once asked God to kill him, made this revelation Friday night of the just concluded 2016 Holy Ghost Congress of the RCCG themed ‘Complete Restoration’ held at the RCCG’s 3 kilometres by 3 kilometres Redemption Camp, Ogun state, Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye said, “You will remember those of you, who know the details; Nigeria was living under a siege at a particular time. There was a reign of terror by a military president who wanted to transform to a civilian president”.

“In the process of trying to realize his ambition, his herbalist told him that this plan cannot come to pass because of a certain man who is praying at a place called Camp and that unless you remove that man your plan won’t work,” he added.

The G. O. continued his narration saying that, “And so information came to me that they are coming for me and in those days when they come for you that is the end of the story”.

“As an ordinary human being when I heard that I was troubled. I didn’t tell my wife but I stepped out for my prayer walk but it wasn’t an ordinary prayer walk that day”.

“We all know how the case ended. On Tuesday, he died and Nigerians shouted happy New Year,” Pastor Adeboye said.

Although the cleric did not exactly mention the name of the former Head of State he was referring to, both forensic and political analysts have said he was referring to late General Sani Abacha.

The analysts have said the only former Head of State closed to the description of Pastor Adeboye who made frantic efforts to retain leadership of the nation Nigeria to become a civilian president at the dawn of democracy, was late Sani Abacha.

Sani Abacha, whose death news broke on a Tuesday morning in 1998 with jubilations at every quarter of the country, was a Nigerian former Head of State who many, both local and foreign political experts adjudged a terror.

Abacha was reported to have assassinated anyone who opposed him. Those who opposed him were reported to have survived only out of some divine intervention.

Pastor Adeboye said, “When you read 2 Chronicles 20:1-25, you will see the example of victory without a fight in the life of Jehoshaphat”. He said ‘victory without a fight’ is what the bible, the holy book for Christians, refers to when it said in Romans 8:37 that “…we are more than conquerors,” inferring it was by divine intervention he survived the scare of late General Sani Abacha.

The one week long Holy Ghost Congress, which began on Monday, December 5 and ended Saturday, December 10 2016, was a gathering of millions of worshipers from all over the world.

The Congress was well attended by top government officials including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Oludolapo; Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode and his wife, Bolanle; Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and his wife Olukemi; Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole and the Chief Judge of South Africa, Mogoeng Mogoeng.

Also present at the Congress were anointed men of God including Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Pastor John Watson, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, and Pastor Stephen Rathod.

Holy Ghost Congress: American citizen seeks divine intervention for the US

A top American citizen and minister of the gospel representing world delegates to the 2016 Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has sought prayers for divine intervention for his country, the United States of America (USA).

Minister Carlos Malavi from Houston, Texas, said the USA is in desperate need of prayers, lamenting the sins of his country are too many.

“My country needs the prayers of all the faithful around the world.

“My country is in desperate need of the gospel; please come to America,” Malavi said on Friday night of the Holy Ghost Congress.

Although the inauguration of the President-elect of the USA, Donald Trump, is fast approaching, protests have continued to question the credibility of the electoral process.

While President-elect Trump has reiterated commitments to bring about a total turnaround in the USA, the President-elect has reneged most of his campaign promises.

Minister Malavi said at the Congress that disobedience to God, racism, greed and the oppression of the poor has eaten deep into the very fabrics binding the foundations of the USA, believing that only prayers can bring about the turnaround the US desperately needs.

“My country needs complete restoration; needs to be made anew like as the day of Pentecost.

“I beseech you, please pray for my country, the sins of my country are too many,” Malavi said.

Meanwhile, in hope to restore the American dream, Trump has since been carefully picking his cabinet members one after the other awaiting his inauguration on Friday January 20, 2017 in Washington D. C. as the 45th President of the US (POTUS).

In her comments, the wife of the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Mrs. Tolu Adeboye said “almost all the nations of the world need restoration,” adding that Nigeria is the nation that needs restoration the most.

The woman of God said “disobedience to the laws of the land and disobedience to God leads to limitation of nations”.

“We have seen all what is happening in our nation,” Mrs. Adeboye said.

“The suffering is in every home,” she added.

While Mrs. Adeboye said leadership is very crucial to any nation, she has been interpreted to have said the economic setbacks greeted by recession in the country Nigeria was because “we are disobedient”.

“We are disobedient in this nation,” she decried.

Stressing that it is only the restoration that comes from God that is sure, she lead congregants who occupied the new RCCG 3 kilometres by 3 kilometres auditorium to overflow in prayers for all nations of the world using the nation Nigeria as a point of contact.

Mounting the pulpit, Pastor Adeboye, who said “I once asked God to kill me” at the Holy Ghost Congress, narrated a time “Nigeria was living under a siege”. He said “There was a reign of terror” in the country until “the man” behind the terror reign was ousted.

“The man,” whom the RCCG pastor did not mention his name, whom he said has since been overthrown, he said “Unless you removed that man, your plan won’t work”.

Pastor Adeboye who said he would not call himself a prophet, concluded his “Complete Restoration” message by praying for the complete restoration of the country Nigeria and its citizenry, and the complete restoration of nations of the world at large.

The Holy Ghost Congress was well attended by top government officials including the deputy president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, and the governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode.

I once asked God to kill me – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, popularly known as Daddy G. O., has said there was a time he asked God to kill him, if God will not empower him with enough anointing for his pastoral work.

The popular man of God made this statement in a message on the Thursday night being the fourth day of the 2016 Holy Ghost Congress held at the Redemption Camp Ground of the RCCG, Ogun state, Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye who is alive and kicking, while talking on the message “Before the Call,” said he told God sometime in the past that if God would not answer him, He should take his life.

“It is either you answer me or you call me home now,” Pastor Adeboye recounted he told God.

Pastor Adeboye, who said there is a difference between reading the Bible to write WAEC or NECO examinations, and reading the Bible as someone who knows God, said the more he studied the Bible, the more he understood God answers prayers.

In his message, the Bishop of The Redeem Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo said the youths of the nation Nigeria are very strategic to make things happen in Nigeria and indeed the world.

Lamenting how the value system of the country has been eroded, Bishop Okonkwo called on the young adults to channel their youthful energy positively.

He said instead of youths to be distracted by the social media, he urged them to utilize the platform for positive engagements, and take over the world for Christ.

Pastor Adeboye rounded off his message with prophetic prayers for his congregants.

The Holy Ghost Congress which started on Monday will end on Saturday, 10 December 2016.
