EPL: Arsenal’s Raya emerges best goalkeeper of the season

David Raya of Arsenal has beaten Everton goalie Jordan Pickford  to  win the Premier League Golden Glove Award for the 2023/2024 season,

Pickford lost the award to Raya after Elijah Adebayo scored against him in Luton, Everton 1-1 draw on Friday night.

The Toffees had taken the lead through Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty, before Adebayo controlled a long pass and smashed the ball past Pickford.

The goal means Pickford now has 12 clean sheets with two fixtures left – at home against Sheffield United and away to Arsenal.

Raya, on the other hand, has 14 clean sheets with three fixtures left to play.

The best Pickford can do is equal Raya’s tally, although that is unlikely with him facing title contenders Arsenal on the last day.

EPL: Why we lost 2-0 to Chelsea – Tottenham coach, Ange Postecoglou,

Ange Postecoglou, the coach of Tottenham Hotspur, has stated reasons his team lost to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.

According to him,  his team did not have the right mindset following their 2-0  defeat to Chelsea in the premier League.

Nathaniel Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson scored for the Blues, as they completed a Premier League double over their London rivals this season.

The result put a dent on Spurs’ hopes of finishing in the top four and qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

“It wasn’t a great night. We didn’t have the mindset that I expect us to have, so that’s on me, I’ve got to take responsibility for that.

“Ultimately I’m the one that’s putting them out there and preparing them for it.

“We were so far off it I’ve got to look at myself and see how I’m preparing this team for it,” Postecoglou told the media.

  • Vardy scores brace as Leicester City crown EPL promotion with Championship title

Vardy scores brace as Leicester City crown EPL promotion with Championship title

Leicester City have returned to the Premier League after spending just one season at the championship.

Their return was made possible after Leeds United lost heavily to QPR by 4-0 on Friday night, but they have now crowned their effort with winning the title away at Preston with an emphatic 3-0 victory.

Jamie Vardy was the star for the Foxes as he scored in both halves before Kasey McAteer made sure of the points with an unmarked header.

The Foxes were assured of promotion on Friday without even needing to take to the field. Leeds’ 4-0 loss at QPR ensured Daniel Farke’s team could no longer catch Enzo Maresca’s Leicester, though Ipswich Town’s game in hand meant they still had a shot.

That hope for Ipswich was extinguished at Deepdale, though, with Vardy’s scuffed effort setting Leicester on their way. Vardy got his second of the game early in the second half, slamming home a rebound after Wout Faes fired against the post, and the points were safe before Kasey McAteer’s third.

Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich can join Maresca’s team in the top tier with four points from their final two games against Coventry and Huddersfield. They might not even need that many if Leeds fall short against Southampton on the final day.

And they are prepared to be ruthless with potential sales at the end of the season.
