Casemiro vs Bruno: I have no issues with my players quarelling – Ten Hag

Following the heated argument that ensued between Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro after their 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, Manchester United coach has backed both players for their actions.

However, Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has insisted that he saw “no problem” with both players having heated argument.

Casemiro appeared to be lambasting his team-mate before Harry Maguire came over to intervene.

Both players have previously been caught on camera arguing on the pitch, most recently after winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley.

But speaking to United’s official website, Ten Hag has said he encourages his players to confront each other.

“Yes, of course [I encourage them]. They have to communicate. They have to organise it and make sure we get a win.

“So when they are talking to each other, in discussion, debating with each other, I don’t have a problem with that,” Ten Hag said.

Eredivise: Why we sacked Alfred Schreuder – Ajax FC management

Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam has stated reasons why it sacked manager Alfred Schreuder just eight months after he replaced Erik ten Hag as gaffer of the team.

According to the club, Schreuder cannot keep up with the tempo and pace of Ajax as the clubside has suffered a great set back since his arrival.

Schreuder’s departure was confirmed by chief executive Edwin van der Sar following Thursday night’s 1-1 draw at home to struggling Volendam. He leaves the Johan Cruyff Arena with Ajax without a win in their last seven league matches and in fifth place, seven points behind Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord.

Speaking after the draw with Volendam, Van der Sar explained: “It’s never nice to let go of people who worked hard. But we couldn’t keep going like this.”

Ajax confirmed the news in a statement which read: “Ajax has immediately suspended Alfred Schreuder. The trainer’s contract was valid until June 30, 2024, but will now be terminated immediately.

“The many points lost and the team’s lack of development are the main reasons for this decision. The club management no longer has confidence in further cooperation. The collaboration with assistant coach Matthias Kaltenbach will also be terminated.”

Meanwhile, Van der Sar is quoted: “It is a painful decision, but also a necessary one. After a good start to the season, we then lost an unnecessary number of points.

“The game was also volatile. The World Cup meant an early and long winter break time and kept us confident to change things and improve.

“In recent weeks it became increasingly clear that he could not turn the tide, while we believe that despite the many transfers he had a strong and championship worthy squad at his disposal. We have also lost a lot of points in recent weeks and unfortunately we did not see any progress.”

Having only lost once in the league before the end of October, a defeat to PSV Eindhoven was followed by a run of six draws spanning both before and after the World Cup break.

The Red Devils won 3-0 at Old Trafford on Thursday night to confirm their place in the knockout stages.

They would avoid a play-off against a Champions League drop-out if they beat Real Sociedad next week.

    However,

Ten Hag replaced Antony with Marcus Rashford before the teams came out for the second half.

But the United boss insists his decision was pre-planned.

“It was more or less planned. If we were [winning], I wanted to see Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford close together, that was one of the reasons.

“Also to bring another dynamic over to the right side.

“I thought over the left side Alejandro Garnacho was playing quite well and he had a real threat in his actions, really good tempo dribbles, so that was good to see. So it [Antony’s withdrawal] was more or less planned,” Ten Hag told BT Sport.

EPL: Why I benched Ronaldo against Tottenham – Ten Hag

Ronaldo stormed out of the Old Trafford pitch and went through the tunnel to the dressing room minutes before the final whistle was blown.

“We are building for the future, but the future is tonight,” the United boss told Amazon.

“You pick the line-up that you think has the most chance to win, and you have a game plan. Cristiano [Ronaldo] is an important player and he can make the goal.

“I have to deal with all the players’ expectations and I have to deal with developing this team. You have to make a game plan.

“This is a good Tottenham team, a compact, a transition team with high intensity and I think this is the best way to start like this. You get more runs behind, more dynamic up front.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 20 games against Tottenham.

I understand why Ten Hag benched me – Luke Shaw

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has accepted that Tyrell Malacia currently plays more at the club.

The 27-year-old will be hoping to work his way back into the starting line-up at United. But he says he understands why manager Erik ten Hag dropped him in the first place.

“I think it shows the trust Gareth (Southgate) has in me,” Shaw told the BBC.

“I look at it from a club perspective. I know the first two games weren’t good enough and fully understand the manager has to make decisions.

“Now the team has been winning and we’ve got to bide our time. The only thing I can do is keep supporting the team, keep training hard and just wait for my time, because I think if I put my head down and did not care, it would be a bigger hill to climb when I want to play.”
