We’ll see Ten Hag at another big club – Slot

Liverpool manager Arne Slot admits he has sympathy for Erik ten Hag after his sacking by Manchester United.

Ten Hag lost his job on Monday after just over two seasons in charge.

Slot, ahead of their Carabao Cup tie at Brighton tomorrow, said: “He’s a Dutch manager so it makes it even harder for me, for us as Dutch people. Always your first thoughts are with the person.

“We are all in this job so we know that it can happen but if it happens – especially because I know him a little bit and I know how much work he puts into it – to get this news for him is a pity.

“We also know, especially us from Holland how well he did at Ajax and he won two trophies over here so we will see him in the near future again at a big club.”

Ten Hag doing brilliant job at Man Utd – Moyes

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has come to the aid of a colleague.

The Scotsman heaped praise on United manager Erik ten Hag this week, talking about the pressure on his shoulders.

Despite the Dutchman’s position coming under intense scrutiny at United, Moyes believes he is doing a great job.

“I think he’s doing a brilliant job,” Moyes told BBC Sport.

“I think he’s shown brilliant resilience in the situation that he’s in and I think he should be credited for how well he’s conducted himself.

“As far as I know, I don’t see him ducking any questions or any media interviews that you people (the media) put forward to him,’ he added.

“I think you have to give him great credit for that but it’s a job that is going to attract immense pressure, people talking, so I have to say that I think he’s doing a brilliant job.”

  • Man Utd earn battling draw against Aston Villa

Man Utd earn battling draw against Aston Villa

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will hope a battling draw at Aston Villa will relieve the fierce scrutiny of his position.

The club’s co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was in attendance at Villa Park to see United at least show some of the resilience that was missing in the collapse at home to Tottenham and the defensive solidity lacking in Porto in the Europa League.

Ten Hag turned to the veteran duo of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans to add some steel, although he lost the England defender to injury right on half-time.

Marcus Rashford twice tested Villa keeper Emi Martinez while United captain Bruno Fernandes came closest with a second half free-kick that bounced back off the bar at the Holte End. Substitute Antony also forced Martinez into an acrobatic save from long range.

United keeper Andre Onana was relatively untroubled, although he did well to athletically push away a power drive from Villa midfield man Youri Tielemans.

Ten Hag must now hope Ratcliffe and the rest of United’s watching hierarchy saw enough to keep faith with the Dutchman, although this draw means they are still five games without a win.

Ten Hag names country to win Euro 2024

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United boss, has picked his favourite country to win the 2024 European championship in Germany.

The Dutchman snubbed his country, The Netherlands, to pick England as the favourite to win the Euro 2024.

The Dutchman insisted that the Three Lions boast of the ‘best midfield of all countries.’

England began their Euro 2024 championship campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Serbia on Sunday.

Ten Hag said, as quoted by The European Lad on X, “England has a fantastic squad, they are favourites for a reason.

“They have the best midfield of all countries in the EURO’S. They got Harry Kane as their striker. On the wings, they have an incredible amount of quality.”

Diallo, Hojlund rescue under-fire Erik ten Hag against Newcastle

Amad Diallo’s rocket and Rasmus Hojlund’s fine finish secured Manchester United and under-fire Erik ten Hag a much-needed win against fellow European hopefuls Newcastle in their final home match of a season to forget.

The injury-ravaged Red Devils have lost 19 in all competitions this term and knew defeat on Wednesday would set unwanted records, as well as end any hope of continental qualification through the Premier League.

But as United’s new decision-makers Ineos consider how to turn the club around, there was a glimpse of what could have been – and perhaps could yet still be – under Ten Hag as they ran out 3-2 victors against Newcastle.

It was far from perfect but Kobbie Mainoo put United into a deserved lead midway through a first half that saw Anthony Gordon’s penalty appeals rejected and a Dan Burn header cleared off the line by Casemiro.

Gordon drew Newcastle level early in the second half and Sofyan Amrabat’s block sent an Alexander Isak strike looping onto the bar as Ten Hag’s team wobbled, only for Diallo to laser the hosts back ahead.

Recently criticised substitute Hojlund drove home a third as the clock wound down, meaning Lewis Hall’s wonderful stoppage-time strike was only a consolation.

The win puts eighth-placed United level on 53 points with Newcastle in seventh, but they are well behind on goal difference heading into the final day of the season.

Ten Hag signed a three -year contract with United after he joined from Ajax in May 2002.

Since joining United, Ten Hag has struggled to stabilized Manchester United with the club currently on 7th position on the log.

United trail a top-four position by a massive 16 points.

However, there are other claims that says United’s revamped football hierarchy, led by minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS, has been actively exploring potential alternatives to Ten Hag.

United have penciled down A -list coaches like Gareth Southgate, Bayern Munich’s Thomas Tuchel, Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, Brentford’s Thomas Frank, and Wolves’ Gary O’Neil as potential replacement for Ten Hag.

The result is a blow to United”s chances of playing in the Champions League next season, as they sit in sixth place with a -1 GD.
