    ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ becomes highest-grossing film in West Africa

    Nollywood actress cum filmmaker, Funke Akindele’s latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, has become the highest-grossing movie of all time in West Africa, grossing an impressive N1.6 billion just one month after its release.

    Filmone, the movie’s distributor in a collaboration post via Instagram announced the latest achievement on Monday.

    The post reads: “A billy gang, we’re up! Everybody Loves Jennifer has grossed over 1.6 billion Naira at the box office!

    “We can’t thank you enough for showing this movie all your love!”

    The film maker, via her Instagram page celebrate the feat while thanking God and her fans.

    She wrote: “Na God do am. I am so grateful to you all. I no know wetin I go write again.

    ‘’Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is also Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie of all time.

    In 2023, the actress’s film, a Tribe Called Judah broke record after becoming the first Nollywood movie to cross the N1 billion mark with N1,404,187,806.

    In 2020, her film , Omo Ghetto: The Saga, accumulated a whooping sum of N636,129,120, which she surpassed in 2021 with Battle on Buka Street, earning N668,423,056.

    The movie features popular Nollywood cast which includes Patience Ozokwor, Jide Kosoko, Nancy Isime, Omowunmi Dada, Tobi Makinde and Falz.

    Nollywood actress cum filmmaker, Funke Akindele’s latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, has shattered a record in Nollywood,  after becoming the movie with a staggering N1.466 billion at the Nigerian box office and still climbing.

    Filmone, the movie’s distributor in a collaboration post on Tuesday announced the milestone on Instagram, calling it a “record breaker.”

    They wrote: “Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially hit a historic 1.466 Billion Naira and counting at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time!

    ”A massive THANK YOU to our incredible audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for making this dream a reality! Your support is everything. On to even greater heights! Still showing in cinemas near you—experience the magic on the big screen.”

    In reaction, the prominent movie maker, via her Instagram thanked everyone, particularly in Nigeria and Ghana, who ensured the movie is a success.

    Popular actress, cum filmmaker, Funke Akindele has issued a strong warning to the public against pirating her upcoming movie ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’.

    The highly anticipated film will hit Nigerian cinemas on December 13.

    The actress in a recent post on her Instagram page pleaded with the public to resist the urge of recording the movie while watching it in cinemas.

    Emphasizing that piracy is a serious offense, the 47-year-old movie producer noted that the pratice affects the livelihoods of filmmakers and actors.

    She further urged fans to support her by taking pictures at the standees, posting the trailers and teasers, and encouraging others to watch the movie in cinemas.

    She wrote: “Do not be scared. I am fine. But if you go to see my new movie — ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ and bring out your phone or any device you have to film it then I will not be fine.

    “I know you have got mad love for me as my fan. I know you respect me so much. I know you respect me so much. I know you want to support me. I know you want to promote me. But you filming it is not you supporting me.

    “Do not upload on your social media accounts. Do not bring out your phone. If you want to support me, get to the cinemas, take pictures at the standies, post my trailers, the teasers of the movies, and I would be fine.

    “Because the act of you filming is called piracy. We will not encourage piracy. We will take all necessary security measures to arrest anyone caught doing it. I love my fans very much.

    “It is affecting us. We need to grow more than this. We spent a lot of money on that project ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’.”

    Top Nigerian celebrities like Mo Bimpe, Stan Nze, Dbanj, Layi Wasabi, Omowunmi Dada, Falz TheBahdGuy, Patience Ozokwo, Bisola Aiyeola, Destiny Etiko, Idia Aisien, on Sunday stunned in their best outfits at the premiere of Everybody Loves Jenifa.

    The star of the event, Funke Akindele, rocked a breathtaking gown, showing off her cleavage and long legs. The prominent film maker had earlier sent out invites, drawing top Nollywood stars and entertainment personalities to the event.

    TV host turned-actress Nancy Isime donned a long black blouse attire with a silver sequence short; others dressed to kill at the premiere include Bisola Aiyeola and Jarvis.

    The night’s highlight was when the “Everybody Loves Jenifa” cast made an unforgettable entrance. They didn’t just walk onto the carpet — they made a statement after arriving in a sleek black Rolls-Royce convoy.

    Other prominent figures who were in attendance include Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, and Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Chimezie Imo, Blessing Obas Iyabo Ojo, Oshodi Oke, Oloyede Juliana, D’banj, Kiekie, and Tobi Makinde, among others.
