APC crisis: Eze slams Abe, Aguma over suspension of Amaechi, Uchendu, others

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South-South, has described a former Rivers South East Senator, Magnus Abe and Igo Aguma, a former member of the House of Representatives, as political clowns over the purported suspension of the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, from the party.

According to Eze, this exact action exposed Abe, Aguma as desperados, shameless, unrepentant and acute opposition elements who are commissioned to destabilize the party in Rivers State.

Eze, a former spokesman of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, also recommended Abe and Aguma to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for further grooming on acting and possible roles in Nollywood movies.

Eze, in a statement to newsmen on Wednesday, urged Nigerians not to take such a misguided and comic group serious.

Aguma, a factional leader of the Rivers APC had during the week met with others in his camp, notably, Livingstone Wechie and thereafter declared Amaechi suspended.

Joining Amaechi in the list of suspended members were, Senator Andrew Uchendu, former acting National Chairman of the APC, Victor Giadom, Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC, Rivers State, Isaac Ogbuobula, amongst others.

He said, “Having shown their huge talents and endowments in the entertainment industry, it is only justifiable and fair to recommend Abe, Aguma and others to AY, Basketmout, Bovi and other established comedians, for further grooming and rudimentary training to enable them live-out their dream career and set them up for life, rather than allow them wander aimlessly and polluting the polity with jokes, stressing that the political atmosphere is too critical for melodramatic actions and clowning.

“Aguma, who has been parading himself as Rivers APC Caretaker Committee Chairman has since lost the locus to so act given that the judgment of the High Court which constituted statutory members of the party into CTC and imposed Aguma as Chairman has been suspended by the Court of Appeal since Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Isaac Abott Ogbobula v Igo Aguma & Ors,” Eze maintained.

He recalled that the Appellate Court had in a unanimous ruling by a panel of Justices, stripped Igo Aguma of the powers and legality to continue to lay claim to the Rivers APC CTC Chairmanship.

Eze pointed out that “from the foregoing, it,’therefore, follows that no legal basis exists on this planet upon which Igo Aguma can continue to act or purport to act in that capacity, having been unclothed with legality and stripped naked in the market place by the Appellate Court which made an open show of him.”

He said “the self-centered moorings of Abe, Aguma and others succinctly and clearly exposes them as mercenaries of the Peoples Democratic Party and Gov. Wike.”

He dismissed the purported suspension of Amaechi, and others as “a joke taken too far.”

We will jail Kanu for invading our community- Eze Onyeso

The Nri community in Anambra State has threatened to jail the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The community alleged that the secessionist leader invaded the area and desecrated sacred places.

The traditional leader of Nri, Igwe Eze Obidiegwu Onyeso, yesterday, made the statement during a chat with newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Speaking through his personal assistant, Chief Ifeanyi Onyeso, the monarch said Kanu and his IPOB followers invaded the community on July 18 without visiting the palace.
The monarch said, “My people are highly angry about this misconduct of these intruders. Nri as an ancient kingdom and the cradle of Igbo people and her culture and tradition is highly revered among the Igbo.

He added, “On July18, 2017, a day before Kanu came to Nri, 12 youths came to the palace of Eze Nri requesting an appointment with the traditional ruler for Kanu.

“They were received and told to go and come back with a written letter so that they will get official reply from the palace since the delegation looked unusual, in that there was no titled person among them.

“At this point, they all left and what we saw the next day was Kanu invading Nri community with a huge crowd of his supporters; he went straight to the house of one subject to the traditional ruler of Nri.

“The feelers we later got, was that the subject claimed he had handed over the `Offo Nri’, (symbol of royalty) to Kanu, and even allowed Kanu to visit the historic “Ohianwehi forest” revered as “forest of life” by the Igbo tradition.

“This forest is believed to be the place the first burnt offering was offered by the Jewish Igbo ancestors when they migrated from Israel more than 2,000 years ago.

He noted that Nri people perceived Kanu’s conduct as a taboo.

He said Kanu and his supporters returned to the palace gate, trying to force it open.

“It was this unruly conduct that made the traditional ruler to telephone the security agents who responded promptly and dispersed Kanu and his supporters.

“This act is an affront on the tradition and culture of Nri people and as such we resolved not to sweep the matter under the carpet.

“It is a taboo in Nri and equally against the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council Law.

“The people of Nri and their traditional ruler are not against Nnamdi Kanu and his agitation, but what we cannot take is for Kanu to come and mess up the Nri culture and tradition under whatever motive.

“The community will drag him to court and make sure we jail him to serve as a deterrent to others,” Onyeso stated.
