Lee Carsley has been acting as caretaker and BILD says talks are now underway between the FA and German Tuchel.

Tuchel is available after leaving Bayern at the end of last season.

He has said in the past after international football: “Yeah, why not? I would, I would. I did not give too much thought to it until now.

  • EPL: FA bans Jurgen Klopp for two games over comments on Referee Tierney

EPL: FA bans Jurgen Klopp for two games over comments on Referee Tierney

For his comment against center referee, Paul Tierney in the match Liverpool versus Tottenham Hotspurs at Anfield, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been given a two-match touchline suspension by the Football Association.

Tottenham came back from 3-0 down to equalize Liverpool 3-3 before Diogo Jota scored a dying Minute winner to secure all three points for the Reds.

The ban will see Klopp miss the Reds‘ final home game of the season against Aston Villa, with the second game suspended until the end of next season.

The FA’s verdict levied Klopp with a two-match ban, but the second match of said ban is suspended on the condition that the manager can avoid any further breaches of the FA’s Rule E3 through the end of the upcoming 2023-24 season.

If Klopp avoids any further charges through the end of next season, then, he will only be sidelined for Saturday’s game. If he faces a similar charge next season, the second game of the touchline ban will automatically kick in.

The Liverpool manager was also fined £75k as part of the ruling, which will mean assistant Pepijn Lijnders is on charge in the bench for Saturday’s afternoon kickoff as this team say their goodbyes to the Anfield faithful.

Jurgen Klopp will not be on the sideline when Liverpool face already relegated Southampton on the last match day of the season.

  • NFF election: Amaju Pinnick stirs reactions with WhatsApp message

NFF election: Amaju Pinnick stirs reactions with WhatsApp message

Immediate past president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has been accused to have acted unethically and illegally in Friday’s election that produced Ibrahim Musa Gusau as the new NFF President.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that this is coming after a message Pinnick allegedly sent to the WhatsApp group of FA presidents in Africa found its way into the public glare.

In the message allegedly shared by Pinnick shortly after the emergence of Gusau as the new NFF President, the outgoing NFF president stated why he did not run for third term and also boasted he installed his closest ally as the new NFF President.

The WhatsApp message reads: “My esteemed colleagues, I decided not to run for a third consecutive term for several reasons. Successfully I was able to install one of my closest allies Mr Ibrahim Gusau whom most of you know very well as the new President of the Nigeria Football Federation.

“He happens to be my staunchest and most loyal supporters. He is humble and a team player. Will send his number shortly and excuse myself from this esteemed Chat Group”.

While the authenticity of the WhatsApp message has been questioned, Pinnick was yet to deny the message himself.

Having served two terms of 8 years, Pinnick’s tenure ended today, following the election of Gusau as the new NFF president at the 79th NFF Congress that was held in Benin City, Edo State.

Among the 10 persons who jostled to succeed Pinnick as Nigeria football’s supremo are current vice presidents, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi (1st VP) and Mallam Shehu Dikko (2nd VP), as well as current Executive Committee Member and Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and another current Executive Committee Member, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande.

There was also an immediate past General Secretary, Barr. Musa Amadu, and Head of Safety and Security of the Confederation of African Football, Dr. Christian Emeruwa, who took part in the election.

Also in the hunt for the exalted post were Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Mallam Adam Mouktar Mohammed; former Nigeria international goalkeeper, Peterside Idah; former Chairman of Kano Pillars FC and respected technocrat, Alhaji Abba Abdullahi Yola and; UK-based David-Buhari Doherty.

A former NFF 1st Vice President, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, pulled out of the race during the week.

Gusau, a member of the immediate-past Executive Committee of the NFF emerged as the Federation’s new president, after polling a total of 39 votes to beat other contestants in the race which went into a run-off.

On the first ballot, Gusau scored 21 votes but could not be declared the winner because he did not have 50 per cent of the total votes cast, which would have amounted to 22 votes.

In this ballot, former NFF First Vice-President Senior Akinwunmi had 12 votes, while ex-national goalkeeper Peterside Idah polled one vote.

Also, Abba Yola, the Chief of Staff to Youth and Sports Development Minister Sunday Dare, scored one vote while former NFF Second Vice-President Shehu Dikko had six votes.

Other contestants, such as Chris Emeruwa, Amanze Uchegbulam who had a few days ago indicated his withdrawal, and David Doherty did not score any vote.

In the second ballot, after a number of withdrawals, Gusau scored 39 votes to emerge winner while Peterside scored one vote.

Earlier at the Congress, former NFF President had in his farewell speech commended members of his Executive Committee for their “innovative ideas and the support” given to him during his tenure.

“I cannot thank God enough for His wonderful grace throughout these eight years of my administration as President of NFF. In fact I must say that it has been good, bad and ugly. But in all we thank God for everything.

“Everything you see today would not have been possible without the input of my executive committee members. They are the engine room of whatever successes we must have recorded in the past eight years. I also want to thank all Nigerian football stakeholders who stood beside us during this administration,” he said.

However, the election was held under the cloud of a Sept. 15 Federal High Court order which asked for a stay of action on all matters related to electing new Executive Committee members. However, court papers indicating an appeal has been filed against this court order had emerged on Wednesday evening to give an indication that the order has been vacated.

It is now left to be seen what would follow this development, with reactions expected from the Federal High Court and the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN). PFAN had obtained the court order against the elections.

It was asking for the status quo to remain until the determination of its suit asking for an expansion of the list of those who constitute the Congress of Nigerian football.

TNG reports that the NFF elective congress produced the new NFF President and other executives.

Betting allegations: English FA probes yellow card received by Arsenal player

The Football Association (FA) in England is probing a yellow card shown to an Arsenal player during an English Premier League (EPL) match this season following allegations of suspicious betting patterns.

There was a report by bookmakers which raised concerns with the FA after an unusual amount of money was placed on a Gunners player being cautioned during a game.

An FA statement said: “The FA is aware of the matter in question and is looking into it.”

It is understood that although the governing body is looking into the matter, it is not a formal investigation at this time.

    Arsenal have declined to comment.

Spot-betting allows punters to place bets on specific details of matches —— such as bookings, or the number of corner-kicks —— rather than the overall outcome of a game.

In April 2018, defender Bradley Wood was banned from playing for six years after twice getting intentionally booked during Lincoln’s FA Cup run the previous season.

Wood received a five-year ban for match-fixing offences, and a further 12-month suspension after admitting 22 charges of betting on the outcome of matches and one charge of passing on information.

In September 2009, former Southampton and England midfielder Matt Le Tissier published an autobiography in which he revealed he had placed a spread bet.

The bet was on the timing of the first throw-in in a match in which he played.

Le Tissier tried to over-hit a pass to team-mate Neil Shipperley to force a throw-in, but failed to get the ball out of play.

The matter was referred to Hampshire Police but the Crown Prosecution Service elected not to pursue a case.

  • Chelsea, Leicester charged for touchline clash

Chelsea, Leicester charged for touchline clash

The Football Association is charging Chelsea and Leicester City following a clash between players and coaches from both teams on Tuesday night.

The two teams played a tense Premier League game at Stamford Bridge, which Chelsea won 2-1 to move into third place in the league.

They also met in the FA Cup final last weekend, which Leicester won 1-0.

Following that game, Leicester defender Daniel Amartey was seen throwing away a pennant Chelsea presented to the Foxes.

Chelsea players were unhappy with Amartey and Leicester in general, and tensions boiled over in the league clash on Tuesday.

An FA statement read: “Chelsea FC and Leicester City FC have both been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture on Tuesday 18 May 2021.

“It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour during the 93rd minute.

“Chelsea FC and Leicester City FC both have until Tuesday 25 May 2021 to provide their respective responses.”

  • Postponed match: Liverpool decide against asking FA for three points

Postponed match: Liverpool decide against asking FA for three points

Liverpool are not interested in claiming an automatic three points from their rescheduled Premier League game against Manchester United.

The two sides were set to play on Sunday, but the game was called off due to fan protests outside the stadium.

Supporters eventually broke into the stadium before the game, and the police felt they could not guarantee the safety of those who would have been involved in the match.

The FA regulations do state that if a home game is postponed and there is no time to replay the game within the schedule, the away side may be awarded with all three points.

However, The Mirror claims the Anfield club have no interest in going down that route.

The two clubs and the Premier League will work to find a date in the remaining few weeks of the season.

Everton defender Yerry Mina has been fined 10,000 pounds ($12,300) and warned by the English Football Association for breaching betting regulations, the FA said on Tuesday.

The centre back appeared in a video promoting the betting company Betjuego in his native Colombia. Players, coaches and officials are prohibited from advertising or promoting any betting activity related to football.

The FA said in a statement that the player had admitted to a misconduct charge.
