Court acquits Fani-Kayode of medical report forgery charge

An Ikeja Special Offences Court on Tuesday discharged and acquitted, Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation, of a medical report forgery charge.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on Nov. 11, 2021, charged Fani-Kayode with 12 counts, including procuring of documents by false pretences, using false documents, fabricating evidence, and using fabricated evidence.

He pleaded not guilty, and after the evidence of the prosecution witnesses, filed a no case submission.

While delivering judgment on the no case submission, Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe, held  that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the defendant.

She said that the prosecution failed  to establish a link between the defendant and the offences charged

According to her, the prosecution did not present the defendant’s associates, who allegedly collected money from him, or the lawyer, who allegedly stated that the defendant instructed his law firm to take the medical reports to the Federal High Court.

The judge ruled: “The remaining extrajudicial statements, intended as evidence, can only be used to contradict the person who made the statement when they testify in the witness box.

“I have carefully studied the evidence of the prosecution witnesses and I can not find  where the defendant committed the offences being  alleged.

“The prosecution has failed to establish a prima facie case which  would  require the defendant to open  his defence.

“As to the issue of costs, the defendant is at liberty to file an action report, and should do so in private.”

The judge consequently discharged and acquitted the defendant of the alleged offences.

EFCC had alleged that the medical reports presented by Fani-Kayode as proof of his health status were fake.

NAN reports that the prosecution called seven  witnesses who testified against the former minister, and closed its case.

However,  on Dec.7, 2024, Fani-Kayode filed a no-case submission, and stated that  the prosecution had failed to establish the charge against him.

The alleged offences violates Sections 88(1), 365(3), 366 and 369 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

Fani-Kayode speaks on alleged plan to overthrow Tinubu

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to claims that Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and Minister of State of Defence, Bello Matawalle, are planning to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and install a military regime.

Fani-Kayode described the video of Musa planning to become the Head of State after overthrowing Tinubu as false.

Posting on X, the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain said the video was aimed at getting Tinubu to sack some of his best appointees.

According to Fani-Kayode: “Now come the devious and vicious lies presented in a malevolent, morbid and well-orchestrated campaign of calumny and disinformation designed to engender suspicion, fear, division and panic in our ranks.

“A situation whereby fake stories and doctored videos are being peddled all over social media claiming that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, is poised to take over the reigns of Government and become Head of State and that the Minister of State of Defence, Bello Matawalle, is spying for and collaborating with the military Government of Niger Republic to topple the Tinubu administration clearly reflects the fact that the intention of those that are peddling such egregious and nonsensical falsehood is to sow division within the Government and mislead the President into firing some of his best, most trusted, most vocal and most loyal hands with a view to weakening him and making him vulnerable.

“This is a dummy that President Tinubu must not fall for.”

Fani-Kayode’s wife, Precious involved in ghastly auto crash, loses aide

Former beauty queen, Precious Chikwendu has survived a ghastly auto crash in Abuja.

Precious, the wife of the former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, made this known in a lengthy Instagram post, stating that she lost an aide in the accident.

The politician’s wife said she had been dealing with survivor’s guilt for weeks now and recently gained the confidence to begin proper communication with people.

Recounting the incident, Precious said a reckless driver at the traffic light at Kur Mohammed Avenue ran into their vehicle, and she lost her aide.

She wrote, “I’ve been dealing with survivor guilt for weeks now, I am just able to begin proper communication with “humans” because I’ve been mute and going through the phase of trying to understand why I survived with minimal injuries and the person who was next to me didn’t. Feb 29th, 2024, remains a day I never got clarity about anything, but I am positive it will all make sense in no time.

My driver, aide, and I were run into by a reckless driver at the traffic light at Kur Mohammed Avenu, right in front of Taj Bank. I won’t talk about this person who hit me and all he has done since then because it is already a manslaughter case, but I would talk about God’s mercy on me and the pain of losing my best aide ever.

“God came through for me and sent me a special gift ahead of time for this season and beyond. I’ve grieved for Sanusi, I’ve looked at my cameras every day, hoping he would be out there cleaning his boots as usual. That fateful morning he was with my kids and me at the national stadium for their inter-house sports, he followed Aiden and Ragnar around like he knew he might never see them again, and the last I remember was seeing him argue the routes to take with my driver, as if he knew there was danger ahead but surrendered to fate by letting using go the opposite way. Will I continuously miss my ‘Sule’? Yes !! Everyday.

“He was one little brother that was too protective of me.

Meeting his whole family coincidentally at Sahad stores in January made me see him as a family from that moment, aside from him being the most peaceful, loyal, and easy-to-learn aide I’ve ever had. I virtually camped at the hospital and prayed for the brain injuries to heal with high hopes of having him laugh again at my silly jokes whenever I’m in excellent spirits. God alone will heal us all from this pain. I’ve cried my heart out, but most importantly, I’ve learned a lot from this incident. I am grateful to be alive even though I questioned it all for many reasons, I am alive and grateful. Ekwensu ntooooor!.”

Niger Coup leader is our brother-in-law, his wife is from Kebbi – Fani-Kayode

Ex-Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has said the Niger Coup leader is related to Nigeria via marriage as his wife is from Kebbi State, North Western part of Nigeria.

He cautioned against the call for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to go to war with coup leaders in Niger.

Fani-Kayode in a post on his Twitter account on Saturday noted that Nigeria and Niger over the years has a relationship.

He urged ECOWAS to intervene in the Niger Republic without using Nigerian troops if it eventually decides to invade the country.

The former minister while acknowledging the relationship between Nigeria and Niger, claimed that the wife of the head of the military junta in Niger, Gen Abdourahman Tiani is a Nigerian.

According to the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Tiani’s wife is from Kebbi State.

He added that the Emir of Dossi in Niger owes allegiance and pays homage to the Emir of Argungu in Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode in the post on Twitter wrote, “The wife of Gen. Abdourahman Tiani, the head of the military junta in Niger, is actually a Nigerian from Kangiwa in Kebbi state whilst his Emir, the Emir of Dosso in Niger, owes allegiance & pays homage to the Emir of Argungu in Nigeria!

“That is how connected our two countries are.

“The truth is that there is hardly any family in the core north that does not have relatives from & in Niger.”

EU report on presidential election example of fake news- Fani-kayode

The former minister of aviation and also a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), chief Femi Fani-Kayode has faulted the European Union Election Observation Mission (EUEOM) for their allegation of spreading fake news during the recent election.

Recall that the EU had accused Festus Keyamo, former Minister for State and Employment, as well as Fani-Kayode of misleading the Nigerian public by disseminating false information during the 2023 elections.

The EU observers pointed out instances where Fani-kayode and Keyamo allegedly spread fake news while promoting their respective candidates.

Reacting on Twitter, Fani-Kayode dismissed the EU report as the largest fabrication of news and urged it to be disregarded completely.

He further claimed that the EU harboured resentment due to their favoured presidential candidate’s loss in the election.

According to him, every assertion made by the APC concerning the opposition party’s efforts to obstruct Tinubu’s triumph became a reality, and the EU’s claims of irregularities and rigging aimed to tarnish the president’s image.

“The EU report on the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria is itself the biggest and best example of fake news and it belongs in the dustbin.

“There is not one thing we said during the campaign about the antics of the opposition, their foreign collaborators, their friends and backers in identifiable sections of the Nigerian and international media and their subterranean and covert co-conspirators in the then corridors of powers that is not true.

“We have not forgotten what they subjected us to, what they did to us, and the role each and every one of them played. Their collective intention was to stop PBAT and, thanks be to God, they failed.

“The truth is that the EU is still smarting over the fact that it’s preferred candidate lost. We know what happened behind the scenes but that is a story for another day. The most important thing is that PBAT prevailed.

“Now they are trying to diminish, discredit and tarnish his victory by saying that the election was flawed with irregularities and rigged and that his front line generals and warriors, who stood with him in the heat of battle, indulged in fake news.

“They are nothing but poor losers and lost souls and whether they like it or not PBAT is here to stay and, God-willing, will lead Nigeria for the next 8 years!

“I am glad that the Presidency has responded to their dishonest, disrespectful and contemptuous report in a decisive and appropriate manner.”

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Femi Fani-Kayode, has rained curses on Godwin Emefiele after his as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on Friday

President Bola Tinubu had in a statement by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey asked Emefiele to vacate the office with immediate effect.

FFK in his tweet, wished that Emefiele’s “pathway be filled with sharp thorns, the horrors of the night and pain and may the Angel of the Lord pursue you along a dark and slippery path.

“May your story and end be a graphic example and instructive reminder to the evil and wicked that man is nothing before God, that earthly power is ephemeral and transient, that all power belongs to the Living God and that the Lord alone rules in the affairs of men and forges the destiny of nations”.

Fani-Kayode slams NLC over decision to initiate nationwide strike

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), for its decision to initiate a nationwide strike, which aims to cripple the country’s economy.

The NLC declared the forthcoming strike following the significant hike in petrol prices due to the removal of fuel subsidy.

NLC on Sunday shunned a meeting called by the Federal Government to discuss the subsidy removal and the attendant hike in fuel pump prices across the country.

The union insisted that it would not hold any dialogue with the government representatives unless a legitimate team was set up.

In response to the planned strike, Fani-Kayode released a statement via his Twitter handle on Monday, lambasting the NLC.

He questioned why the labour union remained silent when the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, introduced the controversial cashless policy earlier this year.

Fani-Kayode’s statement reads:“The leadership of the NLC did not threaten to go on strike when the sadistic monster called Emefiele introduced his horrendous, callous, wicked, malevolent, barbaric, vicious, self-seeking, politically-motivated, unconstitutional, and illegal cash confiscation and money deprivation policy that resulted in the suffering, hunger, destruction, death, suicide, hardship, depression, frustration, madness, and despair of millions of our people.”

“Instead, they are threatening to go on strike over the implementation of a well-thought-out and credible policy on oil subsidy, which the Nigerian people endorsed by voting for a President who promised to remove it.

“Although initially challenging, this policy will inevitably and eventually lead to the restoration and rejuvenation of our economy, ensuring the necessary funds and resources for massive infrastructural development.”

Fani-Kayode highlighted what he saw as the insincerity, double standards, and hypocrisy of the NLC’s leadership, portraying them as acting out a predetermined script under the influence of Peter Obi.

“Whether the NLC likes it or not, the oil subsidy MUST and WILL be removed. It is the only way to save our country from the fiscal challenges, decay, and deterioration it has experienced over the past 15 years, and to put us back on the right track for national development.”
