‘He’s neither an angel and certainly not a demon’, Fani-Kayode says of Buhari hours after joining APC

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday said his stance on the person of President Muhammadu Buhari and administration in the past was wrong.

The politician attributed his actions in the past to the fact that he did not know the President so well at the time.

“It is absolutely clear to me that the perception that we had in the past, that many people had, is clearly wrong,” he said. “We can work together, we can come together, we can build bridges, we can effect unity in this country.

“A man that I believe would not listen to anybody else in the past, I was quite wrong on that. With his receptive ears, his reception, and those around him; I have seen that definitely this is a man that one can work with provided you go through the right channels.”

The former minister spoke on a monitored Channels Television programme hours after he met with President Buhari where he was formally introduced as the newest member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that Fani-Kayode was led to the meeting with the President on Thursday by the APC National Caretaker Committee Chairman and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as well as Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.

Fani-Kayode, a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and strong critic of the President, explained his decision to return to the ruling party.

According to him, he criticised the President in the past and done that effectively when he felt it was appropriate to do so.

“However, having moved closer to him (Buhari) over the last few months, I have discovered a lot of things that I did not know before; there is a lot going on behind the scenes,” the former PDP chieftain said.

“The most important thing is this – if I believe in a certain philosophy or I believe that we should move in a certain direction, and I am getting positive responses when I act from within the family as it were, and do so behind closed doors and ensure that change is effected in terms of policy, the way in which the country is run, the way in which disputes are settled among our various people and in terms of war against terror, and I get positive results on the consequence of my personal contributions at various levels; then I have to respect that.

“Over the last few years, I spoke against him (Buhari) probably more than anybody else in this country. I am not saying Mr President is an angel and I am certainly not saying he is a demon; I am saying he is a man like every other man.”

    BBNaija S6: Fani-Kayode endorses Jackie B, says she’s ex-Senator’s daughter

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has shown his support for one of Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemates, Jackie B, saying that she’s the daughter of a former senator, Grace Bent.

He made this known via his verified Twitter page on Wednesday while referring to the ex-Senator as his dearest sister and friend.

He wrote, “I fully endorse Jackie B who is the daughter of my dearest sister and friend Senator Grace Bent! Please vote for her!”

Reactions trailed his support for the housemate, as Nigerians on social media replied to his tweet to express their thoughts.

While some expressed shock at Fani Kayode’s interest in BBNaija, some said they won’t vote for the contestant due to her political connections.

TheNewsGuru recalls that there have been speculations from Nigerians on social media who claimed that Jackie B was the daughter of a former senator.

Fani-Kayode’s endorsement, however, confirmed the claims.

Jackie B’s mum, Grace Bent, was elected in April 2007 as a senator to represent Adamawa South constituency of Adamawa State in the Nigerian Senate.

Bent was elected under the People’s Democratic Party platform as a senator at the same time Fani-Kayode served as the Aviation Minister of Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode trying to benefit from Gulak’s assassination in Imo – Uzodimma

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma on Wednesday described as unfortunate former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode’s statement on the murder of ex Political Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak.

Uzodimma in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku questioned the character of the former minister who he said wants to make capital of the murder by trying to reap from ugly situation.

“It seems the former Aviation Minister wants to make capital of the unfortunate gruesome murder of Alhaji Gulak who was killed on Sunday morning around Ngor Okpala on his way to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport.

“But Fani-Kayode in his characteristics manner of always trying to reap from ugly situations has taken to his Facebook wall to make insinuations that suggest he does not want those behind Gulak’s assassination unveiled,” he added.

Fani-Kayode, on Tuesday had asked on his Facebook wall: “Why did the Governor of Imo not provide security for Gulak? Why was Gulak dressed in jeans and a baseball cap as if he was in disguise? I knew Gulak for over ten years and I never saw him wearing jeans and a baseball cap.”

But the governor in response said: “Ordinarily, one would not have bothered responding to the balderdash Fani-Kayode posted on his Facebook wall because Nigerians know the character that is him, but for the unsuspecting members of the public who may not know the reason behind his comments.

“Explanations had been offered that Gulak was not Governor Uzodimma’s guest as of the time he was killed in Imo, but had come to the State on the invitation of the organisers of the 1999 Constitution Review Committee of the Senate as a Consultant.”

Toyin Lawani’s nun costume is evil, anti-christ– Fani-Kayode

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode has described the provocative nun costume of stylist Toyin Lawani as ‘disgusting’, ‘anti-Christ’ and ‘ghetto rubbish’.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Toyin wore the outfit to the premiere of Prophetess on Sunday. She has since been slammed on social media.

Sharing his thoughts on the issue on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode said the popular stylist’s outfit was unacceptable and evil.

“Disrespectful, tasteless, tactless, shameless, bestial, blasphemous, heretical, disgusting, provocative, outrageous, anti-Christ and totally and completely unacceptable. This is not art: it is GHETTO RUBBISH!” he wrote.

The ex-minister further wrote: “I forgot to add that it is also EVIL!”

The controversial fashion entrepreneur on Monday attacked her critics, saying they were not exposed enough to understand international fashion trends.

“Most of you are so way back, your lack of exposure is really disturbing you lots, you don’t even know what Art is when you see it. I learnt fashion internationally, break fashion boundaries and I’m a Risk taker, you will never be able to understand me cause I will always stay true to what I love and will never do anything to please anyone but myself,” she wrote in one of her Instagram posts.

  • Fani-Kayode’s former personal assistant denies threat to life

Fani-Kayode’s former personal assistant denies threat to life

A former personal assistant of Femi Fani Kayode, Gbenga Adekoya, has denied claims that his life was endangered in connection with the crisis rocking the former aviation minister’s marriage to Precious Chikwendu.

TheNewsGuru reports that ever since the duo’s marriage crashed in late 2020 over Chikwendu’s domestic violence allegation and Fani-Kayode’s counter-claim of infidelity, both parties have been in a battle for the custody of their children.

On Friday, Adekoya, the ex-staff captured in a video denied in a monologue his life was threatened in connection with the crisis rocking the marriage of Fani Kayode.

“I received a call about a supposed video concerning an allegation against the chief as to having a threat on my life. I’m alive and living. I never had any issue with the chief (Fani-Kayode) in all my dealings with him.

“I did my job as expected. If there had been a threat, I don’t think I will still be here doing my business. Concerning the video, we had a couple of frames we needed to hang in the house and I don’t think there was any issue then.

“I don’t even know who recorded the video. There was somebody in the house who attacked me with a knife. The person should be the one who leaked this video. I wish they can come out and defend what I’m saying.

“This is the same person that attacked me on different occasions there in the house, even threatened to poison me. If we can judge this, tell me who is placing a threat against who. I don’t have any issue with the chief”, the ex-P.A said.

Adekoya also alleged that the individual who leaked the video once threatened to poison him.

“Ask the policemen and bodyguards, I left Chief Femi Fani-Kayode’s house peacefully, safe and sound with no issue and no blemish. Before I left, he told me something,” he added.

“He said, ‘Gbenga, you’re a young chap with a bright future. I don’t want to wake up in my house with a dead body. I don’t want to have issues. Go out there, win, and be focused.’ Ever since then, I’ve been doing my thing.

“Today happens to be my wedding and I’m preparing. I don’t have issues with anyone. There’s no threat on my life and I’ve never had one from the chief. Chief is my mentor and we’re good.”

Sexual harassment allegation: Police hunt Fani-Kayode’s ex-nanny, capture driver

The FCT police command has begun a search for Anthonia Uchenna, a nanny who alleged her former boss and ex-Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, of sexual harassed her.

Others who are being hunted are: Emmanuel Anakan (former dog handler), Osakwe Azubuike (former carpenter), Oko Emmanuel (former cook), Daniel Gona (former driver), and Agbolo Edah (former cook), who accused the ex-minister of assault, The Punch reports.

According to reports, the police have arrested Jonathan Gaiya, a former driver.

The police also invited the reporter who interviewed Fani-Kayode’s ex-workers.

When contacted on the telephone, the Head, Legal Department at the FCT SCID, James Idachaba, said it was only an investigation and those accused would be charged to court if the Force established a prima facie case against them.

When asked if it was the job of the police to probe libel, Idachaba said, “I am a lawyer of over 20 years. I don’t investigate libel cases.

“The petition sent to the CP and forwarded to me is that of criminal defamation. That is what I am investigating including fabrication of false statement.

“We don’t do that (force people to recant statements) in our office. He (driver) was brought to my office and it was recorded. We are conducting investigation and if we see there is a prima facie case, we charge to court.”

TheNewsGuru recalls that about eight of Fani-Kayode’s ex- domestic staff had recently visited The PUNCH office in Abuja where they took turns to level allegations of assault and sexual harassment against the former minister. The former domestic workers had also stated the allegations in sworn affidavits.

  • Fani-Kayode once ordered his bodyguards to strip, flog me-Nanny

Fani-Kayode once ordered his bodyguards to strip, flog me-Nanny

A former nanny with Femi Fani Kayode, Anthonia Uchenna, has stated that he once ordered his bodyguards to strip and flog her.

Uchenna made this revelation in a chat with Punch.

“I witnessed Chief Fani-Kayode direct his bodyguards to completely strip his chef naked on the allegation that they stole from him. He sometimes drags his staff to the police station where they remain for days,” she said.

“I was treated in a similar way too. Chief Fani-Kayode instructed one Bako to strip me naked and then beat me up. I was taken to the police station.”

The lady also accused the former minister of sexual assault, adding that Fani-Kayode once touched her buttocks.

Uchenna alleged that each time she protests such assault, the ex-minister usually threatens to beat her up in return.

The nanny also alleged that Fani-Kayode had also sexually assaulted Blessing, another of his female domestic staff in the past, which made her quit.

“Fani-Kayode has sexually harassed me at different occasions. One of those times was when his wife instructed me to take her son to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode’s room and as I was placing the child on the bed, I felt his hand on my buttocks,” she added.

“He threatens to beat me up whenever I protest his harassments. I am aware that he sexually harasses other female staff too. I know that he sexually harassed one Blessing who also worked with him and as a result, she had to quit her job.”

This is coming amidst claims of domestic violence against the former minister by Precious Chikwendu, his estranged wife.

  • Just in: Court rejects suit against Fani-Kayode’s by his estranged wife

Just in: Court rejects suit against Fani-Kayode’s by his estranged wife

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on Friday rejected service of court processes served on former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, in the suit instituted against him by his ex-wife and former beauty pageant, Precious Chikwendu.

The decision followed the doubt in the mind of the court as to whether personal service was actually effected on the politician as required by law.

Also, the trial court held that the affidavit of service deposed to by the court bailiff was very clear that he did not see the former Minister personally when he took the process to his Abuja residence.

Although Justice Slyvester Oriji held that there was proof before the court that the respondent was actually in receipt of the court summons, there is no evidence that he was personally served by the bailiff as required by the rules of court.

“The text message from the respondent to the applicant, which reads in part: “I received your summons, we shall meet in court” proves the fact that he has actually received service,” the judge said.

He, however, stated that the police will investigate whether the acknowledgement containing the endorsement with the name of the respondent was actually forged or not.

“The issue of whether the respondent actually signed the document or any other person signed on his behalf is subject of investigation by police and the court cannot make any findings on it.”

“I need to point out that the bailiff did not see the respondent personally as contained in his affidavit of service. Bailiff should have insisted to see him personally and if that was not possible, he could have returned the process to the court.

“In the light of the doubt cast on personal service of the process on the respondent, it is proper to set it aside. The purported service is hereby set aside”, Justice Oriji ruled.

The court, however, refused the prayer made by counsel to the respondent, Adeola Adedipe, for the striking out of the suit.

He ruled that the action cannot be invalidated by reason of non-personal service on the respondent.

  • Fani-Kayode fires back at estranged wife, claims she’s a pathological liar

Fani-Kayode fires back at estranged wife, claims she’s a pathological liar

Former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has debunked allegations that he violently abused Precious Chikwendu, his estranged wife, before their marriage hit the rock

He spoke in a statement issued through Oladimeji Olaiya, his media aide, on Saturday.

The ex-minister was reacting to allegations made by Chikwendu via a court affidavit where she made allegations of domestic abuse against him.

In his statement, Fani-Kayode said: “The statement of claim and affidavit filed in court by one Precious Chikwendu against Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is filled with lies and falsehood. Not one thing that she has alleged there is true.

“She is a pathological liar and a slanderer and we intend to prove this in court. We also believe that she is unfit to be a mother and that she has shown nothing but cruelty to her children whom she has never taken care of.

“We believe that the children’s lives would be in danger if they are with her and we shall prove this in court.

“For the avoidance of doubt, at no time did Fani-Kayode expose his children to danger. He provided them with the best of care including 12 nannies and nurses who did all the work even when their mother was in the house.

“Chikwendu’s only pastime was to post pictures and words on Instagram and sleep with men outside. She also tried to seduce a number of Chief Fani-Kayode’s friends when he was in detention and extort money from them.

“Neither is it true that she was beaten by Chief Fani-Kayode or anyone else in his staff and security team, either when she was pregnant or not. It is not true she was subjected to any form of physical or mental abuse from them.”

TheNewsGuru recalls that Fani-Kayode had earlier stated that he once caught the estranged wife having an affair with a married man.

Sharing his thoughts on the issue, he said: “She and her lover begged not to be prosecuted for adultery after there was evidence to show they were planning to have Fani-Kayode murdered. At a later date, she was committed to a mental health facility for one month.

“We urge members of the public to wait until the truth is revealed about Chikwendu, her mental and physical abuse of her own children, her mental illness, her numerous attempts to murder Chief Fani-Kayode and his four children.

“Her adulterous ways, her unfathomable cruelty, her gold-digging ways, her violence and so much more before they make up their minds. All this, with the necessary evidence, will be produced in court.

“The only reason Chikwendu has not seen her children for close to seven months is that she has refused to come to the house to do so. She was given access 7 months ago and visitation rights but she refused to exercise them.

“Chikwendu claims that she was stripped and drugged. This is not true. Rather she was held down by a contingent of 4 policemen and policewomen in the presence and under the orders of the DPO of Asokoro police Station.

“And in the presence of her Aunty Joy and at least 30 frightened and agitated officers, workers and members of the household and family after which she was sedated with injection by a Dr. from the psychiatric hospital.

“This was after she attacked her husband and children with two knives and attempted to kill them. She held them hostage upstairs in their rooms for three hours whilst in a drunken craze and threatening to kill everyone.”

Don’t push Nigeria into war with your reckless comments, Fani-Kayode warns Gumi

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has warned popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi not to push Nigeria into war with his reckless commentary.

Fani-Kayode was reacting to comments attributed to Gumi when he said “If coup plotters are pardoned, why not bandits?”

Fani-Kayode said “Maybe we should give Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, King Leopard 11 of Belgium, Osama Bin Ladin, Al Bagdadi, Abubakar Shekau and every other mass murderer and genocidal maniac in world history a posthumous pardon too!

“First he urges the terrorists to target Christian soldiers, then he said that the kidnapping of children from their schools by the same terrorists was a lesser evil and now he says this.

“Has Sheik Ahmad Gumi finally lost his mind. Is he in desperate need of medical attention Has he become the official spokesman for the terrorists that are slaughtering, tormenting, raping, mutilating and kidnapping our people all over the country?”

Fani-Kayode said he was convinced that Gumi is no longer himself and that something had gone wrong with him.

“He is shrouded in darkness and deceit. Someone please tell him that we have had enough of these asinine, puerile, infantile, insensitive, uncharitable, wicked, dangerous and self-serving contributions and remarks

”The country is already on the brink of war and fratricidal butchery: Gumi should not push us into it with his reckless provocations and deeply insensitive, callous, heartbreaking and insulting commentary,” he added.

He said the terrorists Gumi is defending were a living manifestation of pure and unadulterated evil and that every single one of them deserved to be eliminated or brought to justice in a court of law for their crimes against humanity.

“Gumi, stop pampering blood-thirsty and blood-lusting psychopaths and murderers. Anyone that targets innocent and defenceless women and children and kills them is the scum of the earth and deserves to be sent to hell in a glorious hail of bullets,” he said.
