    South African farmer confesses of how he fed women to pigs

    A white South African farm worker accused of killing two black women says he was forced to feed their bodies to pigs, according to lawyers.

    Adrian de Wet is one of three men facing murder charges after Maria Makgato, 45, and Lucia Ndlovu, 34, were killed while allegedly looking for food on a farm near Polokwane in South Africa’s northern Limpopo province last year.

    Their bodies were then alleged to have been given to pigs in an apparent attempt to dispose of the evidence.

    Mr De Wet, 20, turned state witness when the trial started on Monday and says farm owner Zachariah Johannes Olivier shot and killed the two women.

    Ms Makgato and Ms Ndlovu were searching for soon-to-expire dairy products which had been left for pigs when they were killed.
    Mr De Wet, a supervisor on the farm, will testify that he was under duress when he was forced to throw their bodies into the pig enclosure, according to both the prosecution and his lawyer.

    If the court accepts his testimony, all charges against him will be dropped.

    The case has sparked outrage across South Africa, exacerbating racial tensions in the country.

    Such tension is especially rife in rural areas, despite the end of the racist system of apartheid more than 30 years ago.

    Most private farmland remains in the hands of the white minority, while most farm workers are black and poorly paid, fuelling resentment among the black population, while many white farmers complain of high crime rates.

    William Musora, 50, another farm worker, is the third accused. He and Mr Olivier, 60, are yet to enter a plea and remain behind bars.

    The three men also face charges of attempted murder for shooting at Ms Ndlovu’s husband, who was with the women at the farm – as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and obstructing justice for allegedly dumping the bodies in the pig enclosure in an attempt to conceal evidence.

    Mr Musora, a Zimbabwean national, faces an additional charge under South Africa’s Immigration Act over his status as an illegal immigrant.

    The Limpopo High Court was packed with supporters and relatives of the victims ahead of proceedings. Also present was Mr Olivier’s wife, who was seated in the front row of the public gallery and could be seen wiping away tears.
    Members of opposition party Economic Freedom Fighters, which has previously called for the farm to be shut down, were also present in the courtroom.
    The trial was postponed to next week.

    TRENDING: 34-year-old Delta farmer marries two women same day [Photos]

    A 34-year-old fish farmer, Ekpe Akpove from Igbide in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State became the talk of the town at the weekend after he got married to two wives on the the same day.

    For Akpove, a man is entitled to marry as many wives as he wishes, so far he is willing to take care of them and love them equally.

    On Saturday, August 14, Akpovie shocked the world by holding traditional wedding ceremonies at the respective homes of his brides and later had a wedding reception for both at his father’s compound.

    In a conversation with newsmen on how he found his brides, Apove said he met his first wife, Okoro Oghenekomeno in 2008, the second one, Maro in 2010 and has been dating them since then.

    “I love them both equally and that is why I have decided to get married to them. They both have three children each for me. So, I had to do the right thing and pay their bride price and be married to them legally. My firstborn is 11 years old; fortunately for me, my wives usually give birth within the same period,” he said. Read excerpt of the interview below:

    Asked if he opened up to both ladies that he was dating them same time, he said; “Yes, at the very beginning. When I started dating the other, I hid it from my first woman because no lady would find out that her partner was having an affair and not feel hurt about it. Eventually, she found out and I didn’t deny it. I told her the truth, and by then I had already rented an apartment for the second (wife) because I was already living together with my first wife, and I wanted to make sure I avoided clashes between them.”

    “When my first woman found out about my affair, there was nothing she could do, because she was already pregnant for me. All I had to do was apologise to her, and thank God she forgave me. That was how I was able to make them meet and know each other.”

    On how he handles his wives when they have misunderstandings, he said;

    “Women will always be women. Thankfully, they don’t get into physical fights, and they usually have arguments which I believe is normal. As the man of the house, I always sort out their differences, and also I have friends who can talk to them and they listen.”

    Asked why he married two wives even though Christianity does not encourage polygamy, he said;

    “I will ask you a question: How many wives did Jacob have? He had two wives. Even Solomon, the wisest king in the Bible, had many wives. I have never seen anywhere in the Bible where it is written that it is a sin to have more than one wife. As long as you can take care of the children and the wives, that is what God wants. I am happy with my family.”
