    The second edition of SLAY Festival, a yearly celebration of innovation and culture, held yesterday at the Tafewa Balewa Square in Lagos.

    The #SLAYFestival2018 event was a parade of gorgeously painted faces, colourful braids, glitter eyeshadows, statement eyewear and much more as expected.

    This year, notable speakers from different areas of business spanning fashion, career, arts, culture, entertainment, health, technology and media were present to share their expertise and knowledge at SLAY Festival. Among them was nollywood actress and philanthropist Omotola Jalade-ekehinde, lifestyle and food blogger SisiYemmie, photographer Kelechi Amadi-Obi, South African media personality Bonang Matheba and many others excelling in their respective fields.

    As usual, the cool kids of Lagos came out despite the hot weather to have fun and learn. Below are some of our favourite looks of stylish attendees that caught our eyes.

    Yomi Makun, the founder and creative director of Yomi Casual fashion brand has launched a limited edition beach/summer wear collection to celebrate his birthday.

    With the hot sunny days teasing us from around the corner, we can’t help but to day dream about what to wear to the beach or pool party. This collection has got it all.

    The collection boasts a range of colorful beach/summer-ready pieces, an all-print line of exclusive contemporary apparel. It’s hard to pick a favorite from the different must-have pieces in the collection.

    Millinery and Basketry Inspired Collection: Dadu Bajo presents ‘Weavolution’

    Fashion brand, Dadu Bajo launches its summer 2018 Ready -to – wear collection titled Weavolution, underlining unconventionality which is an essence of the brand. The creative director Damilola Awobajo was inspired by Millinery and basketry, while maintaining their aesthetics of subtle structures and traditional inspiration with contemporary finish.

    Several of the garments were created with millinery fabrics however some were woven with twill patterns such as herringbone with lines that interlock. One of the garments was created with crochet fabric making the interlocking loops stand out. Some of garment had fringed hemlines and sculpted flares, giving it a feminine silhouette.

    The collection includes pieces houndstooth (dogtooth) pattern, a tessellation that has existed for more than a century. A classic print loved by people all over the world and exceptionally combined with tie and dye (adire) fabric which had a camouflage print hand dyed especially for dadubajo. This is a rare fusion which the designers call “tramodern”, coined from the word traditional and modern.

    Dadu Bajo has also kept her heritage and craftsmanship of hand weaving alive, with the use of Aso oke which they have continuously incorporated in the collection. The vintage Aso oke used was hand woven up to 20 years ago and shares similarity with a tweed fabric giving it a modern feel. The earth tone colours give the collection a warm feel.

    Rare, distinct and striking are three words that bests describes these amazing pieces by Dadu Bajo.

    The deftly crafted and well-tailored collection which is made up of perfectly casual luxe outfits with a high level of masculinity and refined cuts and styles are no doubt a modern approach for the very trendy man. Each piece shows the creative originality of the designer.

    According to the creative director Shabi, the collection is inspired by the depiction of the new African man who is very familiar with theoutside world but still try to connect to his African roots. LUXE is depicted in the panache of the new African man.
