My father died of coronavirus- Anthony Yarde
Anthony Yarde’s father has died of coronavirus, the British boxer has revealed.
The 28-year-old fighter, who said his father had been “fit with no health issues”, urged people to stay at home to help combat the spread of the virus in a statement released via Instagram.
Yarde wrote, “I’m a very private person and tbh I’m still in shock but maybe this can help people stay at home.
“My dad passed away from this virus yesterday and he was fit with no health issues. The more people go out and mingle the longer this isolation will last and the more it will spread.
“I’m not a doctor but I do know if you stay home you are less likely to catch it or pass it on. It’s seriously not worth the risk.”
A statement from Yarde’s promoter Frank Warren said, “Frank Warren and everyone at Queensberry Promotions would like to express sincere condolences to Anthony Yarde and his family after the untimely passing of his father.
“Coronavirus is an issue affecting all of us, but that doesn’t make the individual casualties any less tragic.
“We hope that his fans listen to Anthony’s heartfelt plea for people to take the governments advice seriously so we can try and minimize the suffering of others.”

Tyson Fury’s father sends message to Wilder
Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury, has urged dethroned WBC champion, Deontay Wilder, not to seek a rematch with his son.
Fury knocked out Wilder in the 7th round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA, last weekend to regain the WBC world heavyweight title.
Wilder has already announced his intention to trigger a rematch clause to face Fury.
But John wants Wilder to focus his attention to fight British boxer, Anthony Joshua next because he can never beat Tyson, and his son has proved that he is too good for him.
“I can’t blame Wilder [for his intention to trigger a rematch clause] because it is all about the money,” John Fury told IFL TV.
“But I do not know what wants to do against Tyson because Tyson is only getting better.
“He should forget Tyson because he is too good for him, and he has proved it.
“Wilder could not beat him when he lost ten stone, and he got up from his best shots.
“That was enough to tell him that the rematch should never happen.
“Therefore, I expect him to go after AJ [Anthony Joshua] next.
“Spread his wings because there are other boxers he can annihilate out there.”

EFCC foils father’s attempt to smuggle hard drug to detained son
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a 60-year-old fish-farmer, Muyiwa Otuyalo, for attempting to smuggle a substance believed to be hard drug for his son, Damilola Otuyalo, who is currently in the custody of the commission’s Ibadan zonal office.
The older Otuyalo was at the premises of the EFCC in Ibadan on Monday, supposedly to visit his son. But while discussing with the son, an officer noticed that he brought out a sachet of tablets and handed same to him. The officer subsequently raised alarm which led to the confiscation of the drug.
When the in-house nurse was called upon for assessment of the content, it was revealed that the said item was Rohypnol, a tranquilizer used under strict prescription for treatment of severe insomnia and assist in anesthesia.
The drug is said to possess high sedative effect and is rarely used except when prescribed by licensed medical officers.
The younger Otuyalo was recently arrested after a criminal case of money laundering detected in the United Kingdom and reported against him. The case which involved £45,000 was a fragment of a wider one involving about £500,000 for which he has been declared wanted by the London’s Metropolitan Police. He has been on the wanted list of the International Police, Interpol, before the petition was filed at the EFCC, Ibadan zonal office.
Officers of the Nigerian Interpol were already in contact with the commission in respect of the said case before the suspect’s father attempted to smuggle in the hard drug for him.
Further investigations are ongoing, even as the commission intends to hand him over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for possible prosecution of the suspected narcotic case.

Adekunle Gold breaks silence over father’s death
Afro-fusion artiste, Adekunle Gold has finally announce the death of his dear father, Prince Hakeem Kosoko.
TheNewsGuru reports that Kosoko reportedly died after a brief illness on 27th May 2019.
The ‘Orente’ crooner who confirmed the death in a statement obtained by TheNewsGuru, expressed sadness over his father’s demise.
In his words:“ I feel a great sense, of loss to officially announce that after we fought so hard, my father passed on the 27th of May, 2019.
“My father was a GREAT man. He has always been the man I’ve looked up to. Growing up, I watched him work so hard for so little. He was very honest and has never been interested in shortcuts.
“Hard work and integrity meant everything to him. My father. I will always remember, what he said in this statement: “I’ve been in service far too long to let quick money ruin my reputation”. This was my Father.
“He is forever to be remembered as a teacher. My teacher. We all know that teachers weren’t big earners but my dad would ensure we always had everything we ever needed.
“My Dad was so loving towards me. My father often wanted me to toughen up, it’s funny because he was the opposite tender and sentimental about me and my sisters.
“Sadly, I was not done making him proud, there are dreams I had with him in the picture, I don’t know guys, I really wasn’t done.
“ I find little solace in something I read today. “God knows how to write straight on crooked lines” This area is very crooked for me, these are depths of grief that I have never dived. But God…God will figure it out.
“ I thank you all for your prayers, your support, your kind words. None of them have gone unnoticed. I pray the love you’ve shown me will be accorded you in your time of need.
“To my Dad, the greatest man I will ever know in this life and the next, sun re o!Adieu papa. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”
