Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has asked the Federal Government to increase the monthly allowance of Corps members in the country from 19,800 to 50,000 thousand Naira.

The governor stated this in Ise Ekiti at the closing ceremony of the orientation course of the 2017 batch “A” stream

Represented by his Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, Mr Lanre Ogunsuyi, Governor Fayose said: “the state government will provide all the necessary support for the Corps members to make their service year memorable in the state”.

In her remark the NYSC State Coordinator, Barrister Ukagha Nwanor Eze charged the corps members to see themselves as leaders of tomorrow.

“I want to charge all Corps members to always see themselves as leaders of tomorrow and stay away from corruption during and after the service year.”

On the security of Corp members, the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Information, Kola Ajumobi assured corps members deployed to the state of safety in their national assignment.

“Ekiti State is the most peaceful state in Nigeria, Corps members can tour the 16 local governments of the state any time they like, they are very safe,” he said.

  • Ekiti 2018: Oni refutes defection rumours, says ‘I didn’t meet Fayose, Makarfi’

Former governor of Ekiti State and Deputy National Chairman (South) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) , Chief Olusegun Oni, has denied plans of possible defection to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to actualise his governorship ambition.

The APC leader also denied meeting with incumbent Governor Ayodele Fayose and national chairman of the PDP, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi.

He also accused some people of attempting to pull him down.

The former governor said the alleged attacks on him were only making him more popular.

Oni, who said he was not desperate to become governor again, stressed that his fate and that of other aspirants jostling for APC’s ticket would be decided by delegates at the party’s primary in the first quarter of 2018.

Addressing reporters at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Oni denied holding “secret” meetings with Governor Ayo Fayose at a hotel in Lagos on the possibility of defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to realise his ambition, as alleged on various posts in the social media.

The former governor also denied holding a meeting with PDP’s National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, at his (Oni’s) home in Ifaki-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area.

He urged his supporters and other people in Ekiti State not to believe the rumour and hate campaign against him by those he described as “faceless individuals” on the social media.

Oni said he would not be distracted from selling his ideas on a better Ekiti to the electorate.

The former governor said some people petitioned the party’s national secretariat to compel him to step down immediately as Deputy National Chairman (South), adding that APC’s constitution allows him to remain in that post one month before the primary.

He said: “The attacks are from within the party, and most of them are coming from the social media. But I am not bothered at all because whatever that will be good will be rough initially. Some people have been given the assignment to pull me down.

The good will triumph over the evil. I want to say categorically that I will not be discouraged. Anybody who does not want Oni will either contest against him or support an aspirant. I am not desperate to be governor. I will leave (my post) when the (party’s) constitution says I should leave.

By saying I met Fayose at a hotel in Lagos and Makarfi in my house in Ifaki, these people are overpricing me. I feel honoured if they continue to say that. The last one-on-one I had with Fayose was a day after Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo was buried, when I brought the invitation from the Borisade family. I congratulated him for the honour done Baba Adebayo.

I have never had one-on-one with Makarfi. But if they are saying he was in my home, I feel honoured. Those saying this have nothing to sell. But I have told my people not to abuse or attack anybody. If they have the product that is sellable, they should continue to sell it.”

‘Nigerians entered one chance with APC, PDP will regain Aso Villa in 2019’ – Fayose

    …Unveils 2019 presidential ambition

Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said that those who are currently in Aso Rock are one chance people who don’t know what they are doing there.

Governor Fayose also said that the Peoples Democratic Party has bounced back fully to life and is going straight back to the Aso villa.

Fayose who officially unveiled his presidential ambition at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s National Convention currently taking place at the Eagles Square, Abuja also said that Nigerians entered one chance in the All Progressive Congress, APC, party. He, however, said that the APC has done one year and must, therefore, go so that PDP will take over and deliver to Nigerians.

Governor Fayose who arrived the arena wearing his 2019 presidential campaign shirt and cap equally had his entourage carrying his 2019 presidential campaign posters while the crowd gave him a roaring welcome.

According to him, “Nigerians have entered one chance in this government. But we can assure you that the APC has entered one term and they have to go,” he said.

“The PDP is now a religion, a belief that we are going back to our villa. God will be with us. Those people there, at Aso Rock, they don’t know what they are doing.

“Out of that one chance, we will give you plenty chances. We make mistakes but our ability to correct them is what is important. It is time to arise and shine.

“Shake the persons next to you and tell him or her congratulations for 2019. I don’t know about you but as for me, I am in Aso Rock already.

“I want to congratulate our great party and to assure Nigerians that we are going to deliver them from all they are passing through.”

  • Ekiti, Osun 2018: Don’t underrate Fayose, Osoba tells APC

A former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has warned the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and members of the party not to underestimate the clouts of Governor Ayodele Fayose in the coming gubernatorial election in both Ekiti and Osun States.

Osoba noted that the results of the Ekiti and Osun elections in 2018 will determine the outcome of the elections in Ogun and Oyo states in 2019.

He also warned the party not to underestimate the threat of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who had vowed that the Peoples Democratic Party would trounce the APC in the governorship election holding next year.

He advised them to work in unison to win the elections, even as he declared that the Ogun State chapter of the party had not zoned the governorship slot in 2019 to any senatorial district.

The APC party leader spoke on Wednesday while addressing party leaders and supporters in his Ibara Government Reservation Area, Abeokuta residence.

He said no single individual within the party, no matter had highly placed, could determine where the next governor of the state would come from.

The former governor noted that the APC needed to embrace internal democracy and shun all manner of imposition to strengthen its chances in the coming elections.

Osoba said some ex-governors that installed ‘anointed candidates’ became sworn enemies with them months after.

He stressed that Ogun East Senatorial District was equally eligible to contest the governorship seat just as the Yewa-Awori people of Ogun West.

“Don’t let us underestimate Fayose. You must fight him. We cannot afford to play with Osun either. Those two states are important. If we can do clear primaries in these two states and APC wins, then whatever happen in Ekiti and Osun must happen in Oyo and Ogun when it gets to our turn to deliver.

“As a party, we have not zoned the governorship seat. There was nothing like zoning of offices in the past. We give opportunity to anyone to aspire, but we have always used maturity to settle it among us. That is unwritten, it is a convention. It is not the rule and nobody will go against the agreement.

“Now, so many things have divided us. The Ijebu now come together to be claiming the Ijebu agenda. We must leave the field open. We must examine the Yewa and Ijebu agenda,” he said.

Osoba called for cohesion and unity, warning that it would be counterproductive for anyone to set up structure outside the party.

He said; “Governor Fayose is more concerned with rebuilding the PDP and it is sure that the PDP house will not be reconstructed with termites infested woods.”

The Governor’s spokesperson described those gathered by Senator Buruji Kashamu in his hotel in Lagos today, as pseudo-PDP members, saying “Methinks Senator Kashamu and his men should rather face their Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN).

“As at today, Senator Buruji’s Omo Ilu Foundation’s office in Ado Ekiti is now the State Secretariat of MPN and all his men have openly declared for the party. Or is MPN no longer Mega again?”
