Fayose writes Osinbajo, says ‘your anti-corruption war lacks credibility’
…demands immediate release of reports on suspended SGF, NIA DG
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has written an open letter to the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo indicting the war against corruption and also demanding the immediate release of the report of the panel that investigated corruption allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr David Babachir Lawal and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mr. Ayo Oke.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that President Buhari on recently ordered the immediate suspension Lawal and Oke pending the outcome of investigation of allegations levelled against them.
Fayose threatened in the letter (written on July 11 and received at the Acting President’s office on July 13) to sue the acting President if he failed to meet his demands and “act expeditiously on the report.”
According to a statement by the Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose told the Acting President “never to habour the view that the matter can be swept under the carpet.”
He added, “The government’s war against corruption lacked credibility and had, thus floundered because of the government perceived penchant for sweeping allegations of corruption against top functionaries of the federal government and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“I dare to say that this is one of the reasons the so-called war against corruption has not attracted public support. It lacks credibility and has, thus floundered. It is also the reason your administration has lost case after case in the court of law, even though administration officials have tried to cover government’s Achilles heel as well as their own howling incompetence under the pretence of corruption fighting back,” the governor said.
Fayose, who commended Osinbajo for “yeoman efforts” to quell agitation all over the country and stabilising the polity, said he had refused to join those promoting disunity for their selfish interests, and decided to queue behind him to assist his noble efforts.
“… let all hands be on the deck to salvage our beloved country, take solace and receive renewed strength, vigour and vitality in the fact that your efforts have begun to yield positive fruits and that the vast majority of the citizens appreciate and applaud your efforts and stand resolutely with you. As I have often said, the power of the people is greater than the power of those of us in power.
“In our own little corner, we, too, stand with you. And this being so, you can only succeed, and not fail!
“Therefore, every support and every advice that Your Excellency requires to succeed we promise we will not hide away from you, partisan politics notwithstanding.”
Fayose said it would be most unfortunate if the report is swept under the carpet.
“The preferential treatment given to the two top-notch members of your government is bad enough – and they are the only members of the ruling party that have got this slap-on-the-wrist treatment. So reckless and audacious had your government become in this regard that a serving Senator who is a member of your party said on the floor of the Senate that your government uses insecticides when dealing with alleged cases of corruption involving members of the opposition but applies deodorant when members of the ruling party are involved.
The governor urged the Acting President to do the needful and not let the absent of the president be the reason for not acting on the report.
The letter added, “Were President Buhari to be around, this issue would not have been any of your bother. All that would have been required of you would be to turn in your report within the stipulated time and the ball would then have been squarely in the president’s court.
“Fortunately and unfortunately, President Buhari has been away on medical tourism for most part of this year and as the Acting President, the buck now stops on your desk. Your Excellency, Nigerians demand two actions from you: First is that you release the report of the corruption investigation, which you presided over. Secondly is that you act expeditiously on the report. May I advise, Your Excellency, that you should never habour the view that this matter can be swept under the carpet for two reasons.
“One is that Nigerians are not unmindful of the outcome of your investigation even if it has not been officially released. Two is that should you fail to release the report and act on it, I shall approach the law court to compel you to do so.
“Your Excellency, as a Law professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Your Excellency must not be associated with illegalities and cover-ups; not to talk of your highly exalted position as a man of God who must speak truth at all times and uphold the Biblical admonition to let justice flow like the mighty river. I have refused to agree with those who, on account of your egregious stance on the EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu’s continued but illegal stay in office; posit that the hood does not make the monk and a chain of titles and degrees does not translate to sound judgment. Kindly take up the challenge to prove those doubting Thomases wrong.
“Your Excellency, because our dear country, Nigeria, the concern of all of its 170 million citizens as well as for the benefit of our friends the world over, permit me to make copies of this letter available to the media and other interested persons and organisations locally and internationally.”

Ekiti 2018: Fayose, his candidate will suffer heavy defeat – Segun Oni
Former Ekiti State governor and current National Deputy Chairman, (South) of the ruling All Progressive Party, (APC), Chief Segun Oni, at the weekend, declared that he would return Ekiti state to an APC-Controlled state if he is given the chance of becoming candidate of the party ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election.
Segun Oni made the statement durng a news conference at his Ifaki-Ekiti country home to kickstart his official declaration and expression of interest coming up tomorrow, Monday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
He boasted that he would defeat the incumbent, Ayo Fayose and whoever is his anointed candidate in the PDP, in all the 16 Local Government Council Areas in the state, the same way, he (Fayose) defeated immediate past governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi of the APC in last election.
He said there was nothing so spectacular in the acclaimed political wizardry of Fayose who twice defeated two former incumbent governors of the state at different times.
“About Fayose, this is not a game of arrogance. He is not larger than life as being speculated.
“He, along with others once deployed their political machinery against me in certain political contest but if you recall, I still emerged victorious, so what are you talking about”?
He blamed irregular payment of workers’ salaries in Ekiti state on wrong prioritization of government’s policies and programmes, saying it was irrational for a state governnor to be building multi-billion naira overhead bridge where workers welfare and wellbeing are left unattended.
He explained that his interest to contest the state’s number one position, was in response to the growing clamour for his candidature by many residents and major stakeholders, who he claimed told him his services were earnestly needed.
He said he would use his return to power to instil a new social and economic order in the state as well as correct certain mistakes and errors he made during his first-term tenure, which was later terminated by the Appeal Court.
Oni declared that though his current position as a deputy national chairman of the ruling party commanded respect, glamour and high volume of honour, he preferred to be a state governor, so as to be able to use the platform to uplift lives as well as build the right type of social infrastructures.
“Though I am not hungry for power, i prefer to be governor of my state than being something else. I am not the type who prefer glamour to service”, he said.
Oni warned those who might think he would get back to office and shift ground on his well known character of not throwing government money around to bury their thoughts, saying prudence management of the state’s resources remained sacrosanct on his plans for the state.
He promised to make doctrine of fairness, empowerment of local contractors, worker’s welfare, youth development and capacity building, as well as massive turn-around of infrastructure, the hallmark of his administration if voted into power.
On whether his ambition would not cause frosty relationship between him and his successor in office, current Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who is equally believed to be interested in re-contesting the gubernatorial poll, Segun Oni claimed ignorance about such ambition.
According to him, Fayemi had never told him that he was coming into the race, but said he would gladly welcome him whenever he does so, saying every qualified individuals has the legitimate right to aspire to any office in the land without inhibition.

I would have burnt my PDP card in court if Sheriff won – Fayose
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on Friday said he would have burnt his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card if the court had declared Ali Modu Sheriff chairman of the party.
He said that he would have also destroyed the party’s flag in his possession.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that the Supreme Court on Wednesday sacked Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff who had hitherto held sway as the party’s chairman. The court reinstated Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic and recognised chairman.
Fayose, who returned to the state on Friday after the Wednesday’s Supreme Court session, stated this while addressing PDP supporters in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that he would have destroyed his membership card of the party and the flag right at the court premises if the verdict had been in favour of Sheriff.
“I never imagined myself being in the same party with impostors,” he said.
The governor, however, said that Sheriff and his followers had been forgiven but won’t go scot-free for causing the party members so much pain.
“I went to court with a perfume which I wanted to use to spray my cards and party flags and set them ablaze even within the court premises if Sheriff had won; that was why I went to court.
“Although I believe that we remain the same PDP family, no one can cause our party such pains and embarrassment and expect that he will go without being asked to account for his actions.
“The `no victor, no vanquished’ that we said was a mere political slogan. Whoever that participated in this charade must show some reasonable level of remorse for his actions,” he said.

Fayose threatens to release 11 pictures of sick Buhari
Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has threatened to release 11 pictures which he said would prove to Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari’s health had deteriorated.
Fayose said there was no iota of truth in the claim by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo that the President was fast recuperating in London.
The governor, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, insisted that the President should resign and attend to his failing health.“If care is not taking, I will release pictures and this will create serious problems for the country. The offices of the governors and the president are that which require work. If care is not taken, I will release about 11 pictures (on his bad health”), the governor said,
Fayose, who is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, however, said he was not praying for the President to die.
He challenged Osinbajo to show to Nigerians audio or still pictures taken with the President in London when he met him on Tuesday night.
The governor insisted that without the acting President showing either of these, Nigerians should not take the message by Osinbajo as the truth.
He called on the acting President to tell Nigerians what he saw when he visited Buhari.
He said, “I’m not going to prove that to Nigerians. It is him (Osinbajo) who said he saw the President that needs to prove to Nigerians.
“I have made the allegations and I have said it expressly that we are in the age of technology. So, we have an Acting President of a nation that has visited his boss that cannot show evidence of the meeting.
“The pictures they are posting on social media are pictures taken long time ago. You recall that I said this again at Transcorp Hilton in 2015. We are talking about the President of 170 million people.
“The Acting President visiting the President that has left this country for about 60 days or more cannot show evidence of the meeting. It shows the President is in a critical condition.
“I wasn’t saying that we don’t want him to return, but the claim of the acting President is not true. In this age and time when we have the social media, we have everything to show that the government cannot be run by propaganda.
“The fact is, the President is sick, incapacitated and he’s not in good condition. The acting President should show us pictures, short video of his meeting with the President . It is not in the interest of the country that the country will be run in deceit and propaganda.
“The visit (of Osinbajo) was diversionary and an attempt to divert the attention of the country. Both the President and his vice do not have what it takes to run the country.
“As far as it is good to protect the interest of his boss, he should consider the interest of the people. We are no longer credit worthy. We cannot wait for a President that is incapacitated.”

[Video] Fayose, Wike, Ekweremadu, others celebrate as S/Court affirms Makarfi as PDP chair
Some of the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, especially those who are loyal to Senator Ahmed Makarfi are presently jubilating over the Wednesday Supreme Court ruling which affirmed the former Kaduna state governor as the authentic chairman of the party.
Notable among the PDP big wigs who have reacted to the apex court’s verdict were governors of Ekiti and Rivers states, Ayodele Fayose and Nyesom Wike, a former Vice-Chairman of the party (South West), Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu; Prof. Jerry Gana; a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Emeka Ihedioha among others.
We must move ahead reposition PDP ahead of 2019 – Wike
“Today’s ruling brings back PDP as a strong opposition to challenge All Progressives Congress, APC which has not been performing to the need of Nigerians, and for those of us who have lost, all I can say is we must move ahead to reposition APC, I am thanking God that we are today vindicated.”
Attempt to silence opposition has come to an end today – Fayose
“This verdict represents justice, it represents hope and future for Nigeria, and the attempt to silence opposition has come to an end today By the grace of God, PDP is set for victory in 2019” says Gov. Fayose
Collective victory for our party and the nation’s democracy –EkweremaduEkweremadu said it was a no victor and no vanquished situation for individual party members, but rather a collective victory for the entire party faithful and the nation’s democracy.
He said, “I am happy that the Supreme Court has brought this protracted leadership tussle to an end today. There is no victor and there is no vanquished, but a collective victory for our party and the nation’s democracy. No democracy can prosper in the absence of a virile opposition or under the extreme hardship Nigerians have faced over the past two years. Citizens deserve a viable alternative.
“The ruling party has indeed profited from the prolonged power contest, not just in terms of defections, but also in the unchallenged degeneration of democratic values, rule of law, electoral practice, and the economy because the PDP has been too distracted to keep them on their toes.
Our party leaders should initiate peace, reconciliation, and rebuilding process – Ihedioha
“Importantly, I call on our party leaders and elders to immediately initiate an all-inclusive peace, reconciliation, and rebuilding process to reunite everybody under the big umbrella and reinvigorate the biggest party in Africa to bounce back to the rescue of the suffering masses of Nigeria come 2019.”
“This is a victory for & triumph of Democracy. It is a celebration of the enthronement of light over forces of Darkness. Long live Nigeria.” – Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
PDP crisis: No victor, no vanquished, our nightmare over – Ben Bruce
“We are happy this nightmare is over. There is no victor no vanquished. This is also, not a time to gloat. I call on all sides to stretch out a hand of brotherhood to rebuild our great party. Peace is better than war and unity, better than division.
This judgment is indeed a victory for democracy and together, the PDP can return to being a formidable alternative to the ruling government,” – Senator Ben Murray-Bruce

Tinubu is my leader – Fayose
Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has revealed that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu is his leader.
Fayose, however, told his listeners that he is not planning to decamp to the ruling party, like many others have done.
Fayose said this with speaking at the 13th convocation lecture at the Benson Idahosa University in Benin, Edo state.
The Governor said “I am the man to watch in this generation. So, I am controversial because I am doing things other men like me cannot do. They are scared. They are afraid; they don’t have courage.
“What I am saying to you is that controversy is necessary for democracy. We must have our voice.
“I am not an APC member and I will never be. But remember the fact that our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a courageous man in his own right, our leader in Yoruba land, forget about politics, if they give Asiwaju appointment, he will give a Yoruba man. Whether he is in the APC does not matter.
“And I came out strongly; I defended him. I am not defending politics. I am defending the truth. Our politics must have where we would stop it and say the truth as may be necessary.”
“Some people chose to be under the table; they don’t want to die. They are afraid.
“But remember that the Bible says that those who want to gain their life will lose it and those that lose their life will gain it.
My strength lies in God Almighty. If you put me inside running water, the water will become still. If you put me the den of lions, the teeth, the claws will go inside; you can find that in the Bible too,” he added.
Quoting Joshua 1:6-7, 9 and 17, Fayose said: “I draw my power from those things (Bible passages). When I wake up, I lie down in my bathroom and say.
“Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous. But the Lord God will deliver him from them all,” he added.
Governor Ayo Fayose also said Nigerians made a mistake by voting for President Buhari. -
DSS planning to rope Fayose in treasonable charge – Ekiti State Government
The Ekiti State Government has raised an alarm that some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are conniving with the Department of State Services, DSS, to charge Governor Ayodele Fayose and other top government functionaries in the state for a treasonable offence.
The alleged plot according to Fayose’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, would later lead to the governor’s arrest.
This was made known in a statement issued by Olayinka in Ado Ekiti.
Olayinka alleged that some miscreants were already slated to be arrested by the DSS, after which the agency would claim that subversive materials were found on them. ‘He said the plot was to claim that the arrested miscreants confessed that they were being sponsored by Fayose.
The statement read, “Few hours ago, credible information was received as to the new plot by the APC-led Federal Government to rope the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, into a treasonable offence.
“This plot is being hatched with the active connivance of some top functionaries of the DSS.
“Some miscreants are already slated to be arrested by the DSS, after which the DSS will claim that subversive materials were found on them and that the arrested miscreants confessed that they were being sponsored by Governor Fayose to promote insurgency in the country, with the ultimate aim of toppling the President Muhammadu Buhari- led government.
“The DSS will then move in, claiming to be acting on the confession of the arrested miscreants and attempt to arrest Fayose and some top functionaries of the Ekiti State government.
“The arrest of Fayose will be premised on the claim that the immunity being enjoyed by the governor does not cover treasonable offences.
“Nigerians should recall that Fayose made it known last week that he was aware of the various attempts on his life just because he chose to expose to Nigerians the state of health of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Vowing that those behind the plot would fail, Olayinka said, “This is because Governor Fayose is only the voice of the hopeless Nigerians, whose future is being mortgaged by the Buhari’s Presidency cabal that is only interested in holding on to power at all costs.
“Governor Fayose will not be involved in any unlawful act and Nigerians, as well as the international community are placed on alert as to this new plot.
“On the part of our governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, he remains undauntedly committed to truth and fearlessness in his defence of Nigerians against the cabal using falsehood, intimidation, arrest, detention and harassment to hold on to power.”
