  • Magu using EFCC to blackmail state governors‎ – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Wednesday said the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu was using the Paris Club refund to “blackmail” state governors.

Fayose made the claim while lamenting the incessant harassment of serving governors in the country, especially the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Zamfara State, Abudulazeez Yari

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka , Fayose said “The EFCC is obviously blackmailing State Governors on the Paris Club refunds.”

Fayose, who said that Governor Yari, as the leader of all the State Governors in Nigeria deserved some level of respect from “Magu and his gangs in the EFCC,” added that “Rushing to court to seek forfeiture of properties on which no one had been convicted and maligning the NGF chairman is to say the least, irresponsible.”

The governor described the “onslaught on Governor Yari as a direct attack on all the governors of the 36 States” of Nigeria, adding that all the “governors to rise and protect the NGF.”

He pointed out that the Paris Club refunds was occasioned by the Federal Government’s illegal conversion of funds belonging to the States and Local Governments, adding that it was absurd that the Federal Government, which illegally used money belonging to the States and Local Governments for its own purpose was the one giving conditions as to how the refund must be spent.

“It is like a man stealing your money and now coming back to give you conditions to refund the money he stole and also telling you how to spend the money,” he said.

The governor said it was the height of rascality for the EFCC to keep feeding the public with falsehood and maligning the hard-earned integrity of Nigerians, especially former and serving governors.

  • Buhari’s health has worsened, he is now on life support – Fayose alleges

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose on Wednesday revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has been on life-support for the past 20 days, stressing that the presidency must tell Nigerians the truth always.

Fayose who made the allegation through his Special Assistant on New Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka said Buhari does not only have voice impairment but also has been on life-support since June 6, 2017.

The statement reads, “it makes 53 days since our President; Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria to attend to his health challenges abroad. No official information as to his whereabouts and his state of health.

Like every other Nigerians, I do not wish the president dead, I have therefore maintained dignified silence since we were told that the President embarked on his second medical trip abroad this year.

However, the recorded audio message which was released by the Presidency as the President’s Ramadan message to Nigerians necessitated my setting the records straight today.

No doubt, the audio message was only a damage-control strategy aimed at further deceiving Nigerians.

I have therefore elected in good conscience to state as follows:

That the audio message does not represent the truth as our President does not only have voice impairment, he has been on life-support since June 6, 2017 at a West-End, London Hospital.

Of a fact, our First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs Aisha Buhari was not allowed to see her husband during her last visit to the United Kingdom if only she will be courageous enough to admit.

Only three Nigerians who are of the President’s cabal are allowed access to the President. I will keep their identities for now.

Anyone with the contrary claim should produce the President to Nigerians within the next 48 hours.

It is obvious that Nigeria is drifting like the last days of the Yar’Adua’s government.

Nigerians will recall that I warned against electing President Buhari on the account of his age, health and mental capacity.

Nigerians will also recall that when they released pictures to the press claiming that President Buhari had an interview with Kemi Fadojutimi of “All Eyes on Africa” TV Show in London, on Monday, February 23, 2015, I proved to the whole world that the interview was conducted in suite 881 at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Hate me or like me, again I am putting Nigerians on notice on the present state of health of our president.

In closing, let me state that I am not unaware of the various attempts on my life; I am undaunted as I remain committed to truth and fearlessness because a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

Dear Nigerians, even though President Buhari needs our prayers and we should keep praying that God takes total control of his situation, it is equally imperative that our leaders must tell us the truth at all times.

It is time that the President takes the interests of Nigerians above his own and resign from office so that our country can move forward. The fate of Nigeria and its people must not remain in the hands of the Presidency cabal, our country must be set free.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, attempts made by TheNewsGuru.com to reach Buhari’s spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu proved abortive.

  • Eid-el-Fitri: Embrace love, peace, Fayose urges Nigerians

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Governors’ Forum, Ayodele Fayose, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, love, and understanding for one another.

In an Eid-el-Fitri message to Nigerians, the governor described fasting as a religious obligation observed to draw one near to Allah, “who is the origin of love, peace, and unity.”

Fayose, according to a press release made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, urged Muslims to remember that the Ramadan – the ninth month of the Islamic calendar – observed by Muslims worldwide is a month of fasting (Sawm) to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad.

“This annual observance is regarded as one of the five Pillars of Islam, others being a testimony of faith, prayer, giving (Zakat), which is also support for the needy and the pilgrimage to Mecca: These are the framework of the Muslim life. ”

“Having faithfully observed the Sawn, it behooves on Muslims to exhibit the traits of Allah among which are peace, love, and unity and practice these among themselves and extend same to people of other faith.

“Let us, therefore, shun all attitudes, behaviours, and actions that promote hatred, religious intolerance, disunity, and violence and embrace true love that would promote peace and unity among us as a nation to allow for meaning progress and development which our dear nation is in dire need of now, ” Fayose said.

  • I will take power from Buhari come 2019, Fayose insists [Video]

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, in celebrating three years of his victory in the June 21, 2014, Governorship Election while stressing that he will take power from Buhari come 2019.

At the rally, the governor lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing him of running a government of nepotism.

Specifically, he stated that the 2017 budget did not capture the interests of all Nigerians, especially Ekiti State with no federal government appropriated for it.

Fayose said the people of the state would revolt against the All Progressives Congress in the 2018 governorship poll due to its insensitivity to the plights of Ekiti.

“The APC-led federal government is fighting everybody, the judiciary and legislators, as well as the press, were not spared. They are running a lawless government and that was why they refused to release Col. Bello Dasuki and El-Zakky Zakky despite court orders. This is not the kind of Nigeria of our dream.

“The APC will be upset in 2018, we will crush them and that is why you have to be strong and firm. I am a leader in Nigeria and nobody can gag or cow me because this country belongs to all of us. Today, Nigerians are hungry and angry. There is so much nepotism and poverty in the land, so this government must go.

“Nigeria must be restructured. You can’t get peace when there is no justice. You must do budget that will represent the interest of everybody; this country belongs to all of us. This is not the kind of Nigeria we craved for. There must be equity.

“They have no choice than to restructure this country for good. They have abandoned their manifesto. They are no longer talking about it.”

Fayose appealed to Ekiti electorate to register in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration so that they can have the opportunity to vote against the APC in 2018.

“This victory march is meant to thank the people of Ekiti State and to finally break down the wall of Jericho, because I know we shall triumph for I have the people behind me. After winning, I am going to Abuja to be President of Nigeria. I will take power from Buhari in 2019 and that shall come to pass.

  • You can’t freeze Fayose’s account, A/Court tells EFCC

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has secured another judicial victory against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over his accounts domiciled at the Zenith Bank which was frozen last year.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday threw out an application for injunction restraining the anti-graft agency from freezing the accounts the governor is operating with Zenith Bank.

The account was last year June frozen over allegation that it contained a sum of N2.999 billion out of the 3.2 billion dollars suspected to have been distributed through the office of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

But the account was unfrozen on December 13 last year after which Fayose withdrew the sum of N5 million from the bank’s branch in Ado-Ekiti shortly after the judgment was delivered. The EFCC filed an appeal against the judgment on grounds that the money was a proceed of crime.

The Appeal Court in panel comprising Justices Ahmad Belgore, Fatima Akinbami and Paul Elechi in a unanimous judgment held that that the EFCC did not attach notice of appeal and the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti judgment of December 13, 2016, which ordered the anti-graft agency to unfreeze the governor’s account that the EFCC appealed against.

The judgement read by Justice Akinbami said: “No valid appeal has been made against the judgement of the lower court which unfreeze the account. Against the judgment the EFCC was appealing against was not attached to this application.

“EFCC also failed to show sufficient evidence that the money in the account was a proceed of crime as claimed. In doing this, we expect the EFCC to have showed evidence that the plaintiff has been tried for criminal offence before for it to assume that he can receive proceed of crime.

“We also found that there was suppression of facts to get the account frozen in the first instance. It was also noted that Governor Fayose in line with Section 308 enjoys immunity and his personal account can’t be frozen

“Having not done all these as demanded by law and equity, as those facts were facts that would assist in exercising the court’s discretion either for or against as it is an application that is predicated on discretion of the court. The application is hereby thrown out,”.

The court also said that the alleged damning intelligent report by the EFCC, which it claimed to have received concerning money purportedly paid into Governor Fayose’s account by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro was not provided nor attached for the court to see.

It described EFCC’s claim on the receipt of an intelligent report concerning money purportedly paid into Governor Fayose’s account by Obanikoro as mere speculation, saying; “the court does not embark on speculation.”

The court also held that since the EFCC had admitted that N80 million had already been withdrawn from the accounts, saying that Chief Ozekhome was right to say that the cat had already been completed and an injunction cannot be granted for act already completed.

Counsel to Fayose, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), who described the verdict as “another victory over tyranny” advised the EFCC to act within the rule of law in its operations.

Ozekhome said the anti-graft agency will continue to lose cases it filed against suspects in courts until it divorces itself of selective justice and taking biased position in the politics of the country.

He said: “This portrayed judiciary as the sentinel on the door of the poor, defenceless and oppressed. Governor Fayose and myself had again been vindicated that EFCC’s operations have not been based on law but on emotion.”

  • 2019: I will contest, defeat Buhari in office – Fayose

…says I am next President of Nigeria

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on Friday in Ado Ekiti, declared that he would become the next president of Nigeria.

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, boasted that he would oust President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress, APC, from power in 2019.

His words: “I have penchant for taking powers; that one in Buhari’s hand. I will take it. I’m going straight to that villa. I’m the next president.

I want to be the next president of Nigeria. My own won’t be this change that has brought nothing, we are going to represent the people well and tell them the truth.”

The governor also said that irrespective of the outcome of the forthcoming Supreme Court ruling on the leadership crisis rocking the PDP, members will remain united.

Fayose said all stakeholders had resolved that the anticipated judgement of the Apex Court will be considered as a ‘No Victor, No vanquished’ position.

He stated this while speaking at the sidelines of a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) held at Ekiti Government Lodge.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Governors Fayose and Wike (Rivers) had earlier threaten to leave the party should the Supreme Court judgement favours the embattled national chairman, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff insisting they (Wike and Fayose) can’t work with him (Sheriff).

  • Saraki: Buhari fighting political enemies with no evidence to tender – Fayose

…says he earlier predicted Saraki’s victory at the CCT

Governor Ayodele Fayose Ekiti State has hailed the triumph of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) as another victory by Nigerians over tyranny, saying; “I am happy that I predicted that the CCT will absolve the Senate President in my 2017 predictions and it has come to pass.”

Governor Fayose who called attention to number eight of his 22 predictions for year 2017, said; “I said it categorically that the Code of Conduct Tribunal will absolve Senate President Bukola Saraki and today, the prediction came to pass.”

Reacting to the CCT judgment discharging Senator Saraki through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said the judgment was another lesson for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government that criminal cases are not won on the pages of newspapers.

He congratulated the Senate President, urging him to see the victory as a challenge to him and the entire members of the National Assembly to always stand up to defend the rule of law and fundamental rights of Nigerians.

The governor said; “I have maintained that the government of President Buhari is not fighting any corruption. Rather, what is being done is hiding under anti-corruption fight to persecute, humiliate, harass and malign perceived political enemies.

They go about trying their perceived political foes in the media, with the aim of destroying their names when they do not have any evidence that can sustain court trial and it is for this reason that they have been losing corruption cases.

Look at all the noise they made when they started Senator Saraki’s case, it was as if he will be sent to jail the following week. But when it was time for them to prove their allegations, they could not.

Even the case of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), that they said stole $2.1 billion arms money and that destructive weapons capable of disrupting the peace of any city in Nigeria were found in his possession, why are they the ones seeking for secret trial while Dasuki that they accused is insisting on open trial?

Up till today, they have not brought any evidence against Dasuki. They have not even been able to commence his trial. Instead, they have continually disobeyed court orders that he should be released from detention.”

  • Ultimatum to Igbo is invitation to anarchy- Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has described the ultimatum given to Igbos living in the North as a recipe for anarchy, calling on the Federal Government to put those behind the pronouncement in check.

‎According to him, the statements credited to some elements in the North has not only put the unity of the country in total jeopardy but a clear indication that Nigeria is no longer one.

Fayose said this while reacting to a quit notice served on the Igbo in the north by the Coalition of Northern Groups, and which was recently backed by some northern elders, including a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Ango Abdullahi.

‎”The gap has widened beyond measure because of the body language of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. We are more divided than ever. The elements are emboldened because they believe their person is in office and nothing would happen.

“This is not surprising to some of us as the herdsmen set the tone and became notorious under the watch of Buhari.

“If this continued, it would further heat up the already tensed situation and promote distrust among ethnic groups in the country.” Fayose urged the federal government to accept responsibility for trend and called for a decisive action to stop it.

“Buharis government has not taken responsibility; no responsible government would encourage this. It is an empty threat that if not checked would snowball. This is why people are calling for restructure. “The government should take responsibility and take decisive actions on those promoting war situation in our country. “It is disheartening that a personality like (Ango) Abdullahi would support that; that’s danger lurking in the country.

“He should be invited for questioning by security agencies. Leaders should rise up and condemn this instead of giving tacit support to the ultimatum. “So many lives have been lost due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government.

All these I saw when I warned that Buhari would leave our country worse than he met it in 2015.” Meanwhile, ‎the Governor has declared tomorrow, Monday, June 12, 2017 as Public Holiday to mark the 24th year of the June 12, 1993 presidential election won by late Chief MKO Abiola.

In a statement issued on Sunday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said it was in the spirit of a united Southwest States and the Yoruba nation agenda to speak with one voice at all times.

Governor Fayose, who made the declaration in a state broadcast, noted that his action was in line with the united spirit of the Yoruba nation. According to him, his administration is taking the step for the first time to align with other South Western States that had done the same, noting that “the interest of the people being represented supersedes political or economic interests.”
