  • Face your business as Senator, Fayose fires back at Kashamu

…says Rann bombing by NAF was deliberate

Governor of Ekiti State and the newly installed Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors forum, Ayodele Fayose has lashed back at the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Prince Buruji Kashamu, over his statement where he described him (Fayose) as a “liability, a loud mouth and animmature politician” who is unfit to lead the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum.

Recall that Kashamu had in a statement said that the Friday’s election, which produced Fayose ‎as Chairman of the PDP governors’ forum was a huge joke.

“It was a misnormer that the governors of an opposition party that is in need of rebranding and repositioning could chose a liability, a loud mouth and an immature politician like Fayose as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

“It is not that his emergence as the Chairman of the Forum means anything to me. But as a committed and loyal party man, it gives me great concern that instead of taking steps that will foster peace and unity, we are doing things that will widen the gap and cause more unity.

“Those who chose him should have a rethink in the interest of the party that is striving hard to return to power. His brother-governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, whose tenure he purportedly continued as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, is a cool-headed and balanced character,” Kashamu had said.

Reacting to Kashamu’s statement during a monitored programme on TV on Sunday, Fayose asked the senator to face the legislative business he was elected for.

In his words: “Senator Kashamu is just a Senator, when he comes up and becomes a Governor, he will learn how to talk like a Governor”.

On the recent ‘accidental’ bombing of the Rann’s IDPs camp where over 100 persons were killed, Fayose said it was unfortunate and questionable.

According to him, the Nigerian Airforce would not claim it was unaware that the IPDs were camped there.

“To them it was an accident but I think it was deliberate. The federal government and the military were the ones that created the IDPs camp and same them went and bombed it, it is quiet unfortunate and questionable,” he said during the interview.

  • Fayose uneducated enough to have understanding of international politics – Ekiti APC

Fayose uneducated enough to have understanding of international politics – Ekiti APC

The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has lashed at the state governor, Ayodele Fayose for criticising President Muhammadu Buhari over his non-invitation to the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45 th President of the United States of America, USA.

Recall that Fayose had mocked the President, saying his non-invitation to Trump’s inauguration is an indication that he has lost his international popularity.

But the state chapter of the party in a statement on Sunday by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, described Fayose as a “reckless interloper and shameless busy-body” who dabbles into matters he has no competence in order to present a larger-than-life image of himself.

Olatunbosun maintained that the governor was a man who lacked the deep understanding of international politics and diplomacy and who had “elevated gangsterism, hooliganism and thuggery to an act of political valour”.

The statement said, “Because Fayose is not educated enough to understand the dynamics and perspectives of international politics and diplomacy, he has reduced the American international and diplomatic politics to the beer parlour politics of muscle-flexing he runs in Ekiti State where all issues are trivialised and individualised for personal benefits to the detriment of the greater good of the people.

It is a pity that an uninformed upstart is the one calling the shots in the Land of Honour in Ekiti State where knowledge-based information and integrity are the fountains of our development.

Fayose does not have this, hence he was uninformed about the information in public space that Heads of States and Governments across the globe had no need to attend Trump’s inauguration in Washington but would be represented by their heads of missions in America.

Apparently not aware of this information and unwilling to be educated on the new American policy thrust, Fayose rolled out the drums in ignorance to celebrate the absence of the President of his country on that important world stage.”

Olatunbosun noted that Fayose’s inadequacies and garrulous conduct did not represent the collective attitude of Ekiti people.

He said, “Nigerians should see Fayose as lacking in Ekiti finesse and, therefore, should be seen as an unblemished poster boy of what he is generally known for all over the world as can be explained in many alleged criminal cases hanging on his neck in courts and the agencies of government, which does not represent the image of Ekiti people in the context of national politics.

Because of Fayose’s moral nature and value that reeks of boisterous and violent essence of a street life, it has become practically impossible to purge him of always trivialising honourable and responsible political opposition platform that he has turned to the column of fools and plateau for jejune jesters.”

  • PDP confident Fayose will perform well as Chairman of its Governors’ Forum

The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has expressed confidence in the ability of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti to lead the PDP Governors’ Forum.

Mr Dayo Adeyeye, the PDP National Publicity Secretary serving on the Caretaker Committee said in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.

Adeyeye said the party believed that the Ekiti state governor would perform on his new assignment with responsibility and candour.

“He has come on board at a crucial time in the life of our party.

“We have confidence in his uncommon courage to pull together his colleagues to work more in the interest of the party, its membership and democracy in general.

“We are optimistic that he will bring to bear his wealth of experience as he takes up this onerous task.

“The party appreciates Fayose’s doggedness and perspectives on national issues as he amplifies the voice of opposition by holding the government in power to be more accountable to the people,’’ Adeyeye said

According to him, the public are looking forward to a more vibrant and constructive opposition by PDP,’’ he said.

Recall that Fayose was on Thursday night appointed as the Chairman of PDP Governors ‘Forum.

  • Arms deal: Women, youths besiege EFCC to demand probe of Fayose

Angry women and youths yesterday besieged the headquarters of the Economic and Financial crimes commission, EFCC to demand the immediate prosecution of Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose over his involvement in the arms probe deal.

The protesters under the banner of Patrotic Mothers Without borders also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify the anti-corruption campaign.

They group carried various placards with inscription such as ‘Governor Fayose must go’, ‘he can’t continue to enjoy immunity’ said the EFCC should be up and doing.

The leader of the group, Nnnenna Jideofor said, “The reality is that people are unanimous in desiring that the anti-graft agencies must not lose the anti-graft war.

“This is why there are deep running concerns in the land that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been caged but we do not want to believe this. We do not want to accept that the EFCC is merely making a show of fighting corruption.

“Several developments contributed to the spread of this impression among Nigerians but our strong belief is that EFCC’s inability to do anything about the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, publicly known beyond every shadow of doubt to have been a key suspect in the theft of money meant for purchasing weapons to fight Boko Haram terrorists, is the leading cause.

“The Ekiti state governor and his accomplices have blood on their hands in addition to stealing public funds. They took part in stealing the money meant for buying arms to fight Boko Haram.

“The crippling of the military’s fighting capabilities as a result of this have made some women widows and children orphaned.

“What Nigerians are saying is that the EFCC can lose its cases against others that took part in the theft of the arms money simply on account that Fayose is being treated as one who is above the law thereby providing his collaborator with the excuse that the Ekiti state governor cannot be walking free as a direct beneficiary while they get punished as partakers.

“His collaborators, former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, Senator, Iyiola Omisore and others have returned some money. The gravity of this crime does not permit that we wait indefinitely for Fayose to leave office.

“He would have finished spending his share of the loot by then. Besides, this implies the EFCC would not have any exhibit on him again – he has all the time to destroy evidence and clean his track while terrorists continue to kill Nigerians because of his action.

“The EFCC must again help Nigerians to test the law by immediately whisking Fayose before a competent court after his arrest for being part of those that instigated the arms purchase scandal. We do not see how the immunity granted him by the constitution was meant to protect governors from criminal liability especially where the case of theft is involved.

“We must know what the compromise is. We demand how much of the funds meant for buying weapons found its way into their pockets and who paid them the bribes.

“EFCC owes us as mothers, it owes us as Nigerians to reassure us that its refusal to arrest Fayose up till this moment is not the reason why it has become a relic, a shadow of the anti-corruption agency that was once dreaded for its efficacy” she added

The spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwugiaren and a staff of the commission, Umaru Mohammed who received the letter of petition on behalf of the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu promised to follow it up and ensure that justice is done.

“You are all aware that he is a committed party man, doing a wonderful job in his state. He is well experienced and committed to the ideals of our party.

“We have all unanimously appointed him as the new Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum to coordinate the affairs and activities of our forum and to work and collaborate with other structures of our party,” he said.

The Bayelsa governor, on behalf of the forum, expressed appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of the outgoing chairman of the forum, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state, to the forum and the party.

“He did a very wonderful job while he served as our chairman, leading and coordinating our activities.

“He is now rounding off his meritorious eight years’ service to his state and to Nigeria.”

He said that the forum wished Mimiko well as he would continue to work as a leader to move PDP and the nation forward.

Speaking with newsmen after the announcement, Fayose said that he had accepted the responsibility to work as chairman of PDP Governors Forum.

He pledged that he would work with stakeholders, including the National Assembly, to restore the glory of the PDP.

“I take this responsibility at a time the party needs somebody to stand up. I am sure you all know that we will do it to represent Nigerians well.

“It is a call to pull the walls of Jericho down; it is a call to make a difference.

“I want to assure you that within the next few months, the mobilisation, the consultation will be so effective and there will be a new beginning for our party – different and enriching,” Fayose said.

He also commended his predecessor, Mimiko, for his contributions to PDP, saying time would not permit him to continue.

“I will take over from where he stopped. Come 2019, we will take over again, we are going to come back again,” he said.

Fayose added that some people in their imaginations believed that PDP was divided but that in a short while, the party would be stronger than ever.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that leaders of the party present at the meeting pledged their support for Fayose.

Chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the party, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, said leadership would give Fayose the needed support.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Sen. Walid Jubril, also pledged the board support to Fayose.

“This is the beginning of success and the continuation of the party to be one.

“So, all speculations by any other person about the disintegration of the party are gone. We are one and we will continue to be one,” Jubril said.

Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, assured that members of the party at the National Assembly would support the new leadership of the party’s Governors’ Forum.

  • Fayose installs new monarch for Fayemi’s town

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has presented the Staff and Instrument of Office to the new Onisan, Oba Adejuwon Gabriel Ayodele, as monarch of Isan-Ekiti (hometown of the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi.)

The installation followed the selection of Oba Ayodele by all the six kingmakers in the town to fill the vacant stool and prevent a vacuum that could stall the progress of the community.

Speaking on the occasion in Isan-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of the state, Governor Fayose said as the leader of the state, he had no axe to grind with anybody and would never interfere in traditional matters.

A statement in Ado-Ekiti yesterday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, quoted the governor as saying that he would never play politics on trample on truth or deny any group their rights.

“As God has made me the leader of the state at this period, I must be fair to all and this I am doing in the handling of state matters.

That Isan-Ekiti is the hometown of former Governor Kayode Fayemi does not mean the right thing must not be done.

The ruling house that is next to produce the next monarch came forward with their list of candidates and interestingly, all the six kingmakers voted for one candidate.

‎”Politics should not get to the level of meddling in traditional matters like the selection of monarchs for communities, anybody who does that would have unpleasant consequences to contend with.

“Whoever tries to influence the choice of kings for communities for one reason or the other, will in the end incur the wrath of God.

It is God who puts people in positions of authority and anybody who goes against the will of God for a community as far as choosing their leader is concerned, should now that he is contending with God.

“With the demise of the former king, I was told it was the Ilomi Ruling House that would produce the next Onisan and the candidates brought forward by the ruling house were taken to the kingmakers in the town and all the six voted for one candidate who is being given the staff and instrument of office today.

“We don’t meddle in affairs that do not concern us and the process has been peaceful. If there is any aggrieved person among those who contested the stool, he can go to court. On our part, we have done what the laws of the land empower us to do,” he said.

Governor Fayose urged Oba Ayodele to extend hand of friendship and fellowship to other contestants and advised the people to support him for the growth of their town.

The Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Kolapo Kolade, said the stool became vacant following the passing on of Oba Sunday Ajiboye on November 6, 2015.

The new Onisan, Oba Adejuwon ‎Ayodele, thanked the state government for the transparent manner the selection process was conducted. He promised to carry everybody along in the running of the affairs of the town.

  • You can’t occupy state properties for free, pay up or be evicted in 7 days – Fayose tells federal agencies

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has warned federal agencies occupying houses belonging to the State Government to comply with the State Government’s directive to either buy the properties they are presently occupying or pay rent on them.

The governor reiterated the need for the federal agencies to pay up as they are yearly given budget allocations to cover up for such expenses.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the government disclosed that some of the agencies had purchased the properties they were occupying while others like National Population Commission (NPC) had promised to pay next week.

The statement read in part: “Yearly, budgetary provisions are made for payment of rent by federal government agencies, which has no permanent offices across the 36 States of the federation and we wonder why those that have been occupying properties belonging to the Ekiti State government

“As at today, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) have paid N5.5 million and N10.8 million respectively for outright purchase of the properties they are occupying.

“Even the NSCDC is already offering to pay N18 million instead of the N27 million it ought to pay.

“The Nigerian Prison Service, which is occupying properties valued at N108 million is insisting that it won’t pay and we have given a seven-day ultimatum for all the federal agencies to either purchase the properties, pay rent or quit.‎

“We are yet to evict them. We gave them notice of one year and we have now giving another seven days. There is no going back.”

  • Only God can decide who succeeds me in office – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said only God can decide who succeeds him as governor of the state in 2018.

Fayose said he has taken the issue of his successor to God in prayers and he is waiting patiently for a divine directive from God to decide whome to support in the coming governorship polls.

He stated this in Ikere-Ekiti on Wednesday evening while flagging off the last phase of the dualisation of the town’s main road, as contained in a press release on Thursday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti.

Fayose, who was reacting to the demand by the people of the town that Ikere-Ekiti should produce the next governor of the state, said he had taken the matter to God in prayers and was waiting for God’s directive.

While saying that Ikere-Ekiti, like any other town in the state could produce their children to seek election into the office of the governor of the state, he urged the people ‎to also take the matter before God.

‎”With God all things are possible. I will advise you to ‎take the matter to the Lord in prayers since you are legitimately qualified like any other town in the state. As a leader of the party, I must create a level playing ground for all aspirants. It is God who puts people in positions of authority.

I am currently waiting on God to give me the directive on who to support for the coming election. As for when I will come out with my choice of candidate, we still have over a year before the election and I hope that by the time we clock three years in office in October, the coast would have been clearer,” he said.

  • APC offered me money, luxury cars to fight Fayose – RTEAN boss

The Ekiti State Chairman of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Samuel Agbede, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, of offering him bribe to work against Governor Ayodele Fayose.

He said the opposition party also promised him political appointment, luxury cars and other incentives if the association could support it in its plan to frustrate the state government.

Agbede said his rejection of the bribe led the APC to sponsor some willing members of RTEAN to cause confusion in the association.

Speaking with DAILY POST in Ado Ekiti during the inauguration of the first phase of the state RTEAN secretariat, Agbede vowed that no amount of harassment, intimidation and threat will make him to withdraw support for Fayose.

“They offered me money, promises political position and luxury cars among other things. I rejected them.

“Their latest antics is that they gathered former members of the executives to be causing trouble within the association.

“I will never deviate. I’m working in line with the Constitution of RTEAN which says we should support the government of the day,” he said

Reeling out his achievements, Agbede said he had empowered over 30 drivers by making them car owners since assumption of office and promised to continue to do so.

He appealed to members to control their emotion so as not to harass innocent private car owners on the road.
