Judicial Shakeup: Justice Abang should be sacked, not redeployed – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said Justice Okon Abang who was recently redeployed along with ten orders from Abuja division of the court to Asaba, should have been fired out rightly from the judiciary.

He said Abang should have been removed from the bench for constantly delivering controversial rulings.

Recall that Justice Abang gave the judgment which sacked Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu last year. The appellate court reversed the decision.

He also gave the judgment on which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) based his decision to substitute Eyitayo Jegede with Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the PDP during the governorship election in Ondo State.

According to Fayose, “for a judge like Okon Abang, whose judgements were described as fraudulent and rape on democracy by Justices of the Appeal Court, what he deserved is outright sack, not transfer.

If the appellate court could go to the extent of saying that he (Abang) embarked on a wild goose chase, spoke from both sides of his mouth and acted like Father Christmas, in saner climes, such a judge does not deserve a place in the judiciary.

To us, Justice Abang is nothing but a cancer that is capable of destroying the judiciary and by extension the entire country if he is allowed to continue as a judge. He should be shown the exit door from the judiciary.”

  • Fayose is architect of PDP’s leadership crisis – Kashamu

Fayose is architect of PDP’s leadership crisis – Kashamu

The Senator representing Ogun East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has accused the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, as the one responsible for the leadership crisis currently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party.

He made the statement at the weeked in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, during a reception ceremony organised to receive some leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress from Ogun West, who defected to the PDP.

He said members of the party, especially in the South West should hold him responsible for the crisis.

Kashamu, who criticised Fayose for taking on the garb of the “leader or voice of the opposition”, noted that the Ekiti State governor was the architect of the leadership crisis rocking the party at both national and South-West levels.

He, however, said that Fayose was using his attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari as a smokescreen to cover up when he would be eventually called to account for his deeds while in office.

He said, “I am not unmindful of the antics of a governor in the South West who claims to have taken on the toga of
the ‘leader or voice of the opposition’. Let us not be deceived; he is not.

“As you probably would have known, he is only trying to pull the wool over our eyes in order to cover up his tracks. He seeks to use his rabid attacks on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government as a cover when called to account for his deeds in and out of office.

“He is the architect of the leadership crisis rocking our party in the South West and at the national level. Let all our elders and elders, and true sons and daughters in Yorubaland ignore his doomsday predictions and come together

in unity and encourage the efforts of Buhari’s government that are geared towards rebuilding our country.”

God of Pastors Adeboye, Kumuyi will bring down enemies in Buhari’s government – Fayose

In a swift reaction to the recent move by the Federal Government to restructure the administration of churches in Nigeria, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has on Saturday said that the government must thread softly on this path to avoid tragedy of monumental proportion befalling them.

Recall that the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Pastor Enoch Adeboye announced his retirement on Saturday and named a successor as a result of the law. The widely respected clergy man had also noted that the law was not limited to him as it was bound to also retire top General Overseers like Pastor W.F. Kumuyi (Deeper Life Bible Church), Bishop David Oyedepo (Winners Chapel), Bishop Mike Okonkwo (The Redeemed Evangelical Ministry).

Governor Fayose spoke during the 53rd birthday Thanksgiving service of his wife, Mrs. Feyisetan Olayemi Fayose, held at the governor office chapel, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Fayose said: “There is one thing every government must not do, the moment you face the church of God, you will fail. The God of Adeboye, Kumuyi will bring down all the enemies in this government.

Somebody must tell them, there are certain things you don’t do. They are going from frying pan to fire. This government wants to subdue the church, God will subdue them. They are ridiculing leaders of the church, God will rubbish them. The same church they had deceived to get power, they are saying that we now have the ring, who will remove it from our hand, the Lord will cut off the hand that wears the ring.

APC is behaving this way, but God is the creator of the ring and the hand, God will amputate the hand.”

Ayo Fayose is anointed of God. I have warned and I’m still warning, take your hands away from the administration of churches, you are killing Christians, The Lord will rise against you. By rising against the church, this government has failed. As anyone that rises against God will fail. By using Laws against the church, they have started to crumble”.

Christians are being slaughtered in Southern Kaduna and noble men cannot talk because of fear of incarceration. Remember you are here today, tomorrow you would not be here again. We must condemn what is happening here today, ” he said.

Speaking earlier, Mrs. Fayose said she stopped praying to God to remove her husband’s heart from politics when God revealed to her in 2006 that He needed him (Fayose) in Nigeria. She said to her husband: “The Lord will reward, He will stand by you. You are going higher and I’ll be beside you. I’ll still remain the same person. God has said it and it will never fail.

When I was praying to God to remove politics in my husband’s heart. God told me in 2006. He said leave that man, I need him in Nigeria. I ask when and how and when but he said don’t ask me. But I am taking him higher. God indeed is really watching over me. I want to be praising God and to be watching my enemies falling, and all haters of Fayose and his government falling.

Note this, I prophesied this year that many things, governments, kingdoms, conspiracies will tear so many things this year, because of Ekiti State and Fayose, be on God’s side so that you’ll not be torn,” Feyisetan said.

  • “Police have merged with APC” says Fayose over sack of Wike’s police aides

Ekiti State Governor, has described the sack of six police officers attached to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike as “the height of political victimisation by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government just because the policemen were among the patriotic Nigerians who foiled the attempt by the party to rig the Rivers State rerun elections.”

Governor Fayose, who described the six police officers as heroes of democracy, said “their names will be written in gold in the comity of defenders of the people of Rivers State and whenever normalcy returns to our body polity, they will surely regain their job.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose questioned the police authority on what it has done in respect of the Police officers that Nigerians have seen on videos, hijacking ballot boxes.

“Funny, they claimed that the six police officers, while in the convoy of Governor Wike misused the firearms in their possession and I have asked myself, who did they shoot with the firearms said to have been misused?

“The policemen simply did their job by protecting their principal and punishing them for performing their duties can only be meant to discourage policemen from protecting Governor Wike and other opposition Governors.”

The governor also challenge the police to tell Nigerians the report of its investigations on the murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Alkali, and his driver during the Rivers State rerun elections.

He said; “Since Christian Chukwuemela Ekikeme, a member of the gang that killed DSP Alkali, and his driver reportedly linked a certain Mr Kachi Nwokocha, who is a top member of the APC and an aide of the Minister of Transportation and immediate past governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as sponsor of the gang, the police has been silent on the murder.

“Up till today, the man mentioned as the sponsor of the gang that allegedly killed the DSP has not been questioned by the police.

“Why didn’t the police handle the murder of DSP Alkali and his driver with the speed of lighting that it handled the dismissal of the six police officers?

“Why are Nigerians not being told anything about the murder and the involvement of an APC chieftain just the way the police paraded the six police officers?”

He said “it is sad that instead of focusing on those who killed its men, the police is now acting as an arm of the APC by punishing whoever acted against the wish of the vindictive leaders of the party.”

  • We share same umbilical cord with Fayose, he can’t be impeached – Speaker

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kolawole Oluwawole has said the legislature and executive arm of government in Ekiti State enjoy a smooth relationship and such cannot be destroyed by those desperately working and calling for the removal of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

those fighting for the removal of Governor Ayodele Fayose, are chasing shadows.

Oluwawole, said this on Wednesday in Ekiti.

The Speaker was reacting to calls by Coalition for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption for Fayose’s removal from office.

Oluwawole said: “Unfortunately, they are speaking from Abuja and not from Ekiti, thus they have no jurisdiction to cry more than the bereaved in the first instance about government and governance in Ekiti State.

The EKHA would have ignored these marauders, but they need to be aware of the following facts. The Office of the Governor of Ekiti State is established in Part 2, Section 176 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended for a period of four years herein called the term of office and Section 180 (1) listed all intraneous conditions that can make an occupant to cease to hold the office as a governor.

Also, Section 189(1) of the same constitution listed the extraneous conditions of removing the governor of a state through the House of Assembly.

Nowhere was it stated that some drunkards can gather after a binge night out and ask for the removal of a sitting and performing governor with executive powers as conferred by Section 176 (2) of the constitution.

The EKHA is saddled with the responsibility of oversight functions, particularly with powers on matters of evidence against any political office holder in Ekiti state inclusive of the governor as enshrined in Section 129 of the Nigerian constitution as amended.

These functions, we have carried out without fear or favour and with so much vigour in the overall interest of the people of Ekiti State. Nowhere and no time in Ekiti State will the legislature and the executive be at loggerheads because we remain indivisible, inseparable and closely bounded, sharing the same umbilical cord with the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose,” the Speaker explained.

  • Presidency replies Fayose over N5,000 stipend, says ignore critics, payment is real

Presidency replies Fayose over N5,000 stipend, says ignore critics, payment is real

The Presidency on Wednesday dismissed insinuation in some quarters that the commencement of the payment of N5,000 stipend to the less-privileged Nigerians was a “mere propaganda’’.

Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, stated this while fielding questions from State House correspondents in Abuja.

Adesina’s remarks was coming on the heels of criticism by Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State that Federal Government was using the scheme as a propaganda machine to score cheap political goals.

However, the Presidential spokesman urged Nigerians to be wary of its detractors as government continues to implement policies tailored towards uplifting their quality of life.

On the N5,000 stipend for the poorest of the poor. It was announced specifically from the office of the Vice-President that the scheme has started in nine states and then someone came and said ‘is not true’.

Is just a matter of who do you believe. This is a government that is built on integrity and accountability.

This government will not lie to Nigerians, does not lie to Nigerians, in fact anything you hear from this government you can take it to the bank, believe it.

So, if anybody says `it is politics’, is not true. Choose who to believe I can tell you that you should believe this government because this government will not lie to you,’’ he said.

Adesina said that the federal government had already commenced payment of N5,000 stipends to poor Nigerians as against insinuations that the programme had not commenced.

Recall that Fayose in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, described as propaganda the federal government N5,000 monthly stipends to one million poor Nigerians.

The governor said most of the states listed were APC states and would not publicly refute the claim.

He challenged the federal government to publish the names of people collecting the stipends and their accounts.

  • Fayose writes CJN, accuses Fayemi, Oni of making desperate plot to remove him from office

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has alerted the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, of fresh plots by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to compromise a section of the Judiciary and muzzle democracy in their desperation to oust him from office, saying; “The essence of all of these is to silence him as the voice of opposition in the country because he has bluntly rejected all overtures to him to defect into the ruling APC or stop talking.”

The governor, who warned against any plot to destabilise Ekiti State, wondered how long the Ekiti APC and its collaborators will pursue their clandestine agenda of reversing an election they lost over 30 months ago and validated by the tribunal, appeal court and the Supreme Court.”

In a letter he addressed to Justice Onnoghen, Fayose alleged that “certain APC chieftains were again making subterranean moves to manipulate and compromise a section of the Judiciary, particularly some judges, to get through the back door what they failed severally to achieve through the ballot box as well as in open court, even in matters already decided by the Supreme Court.”

He said: “At a recent meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital, at which several stalwarts and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress were in attendance, two former governors of the State and members of the APC, namely Engr. Segun Oni and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, now a Federal Minister, boasted that there is no going back on the latest plans to subvert the will of the people of Ekiti freely given; wrest the governance of Ekiti from me at all costs before the expiration of my tenure in October 2018 through orchestrated but dubious legal process; and thereby render nugatory the sacred mandate of the people given unto me openly and unequivocally when I won in all the 16 local governments of the state while the then incumbent Governor, Kayode Fayemi recorded zero.”

Fingering the hands of the Presidency in the latest plot, with Oni and Fayemi as their local arrow heads, Governor Fayose alleged that a concocted fresh suit is being rehashed and to be filed against him on the same old allegation that have been trashed all the way from the Tribunal to the Supreme Court.

He alleged that; “this time, the plotters of this judicial coup-de-tat plan to procure the services of a compromised or malleable judge to get self-serving ‘jankara’ and kangaroo judgment with the intention of having the Supreme Court reverse itself on the June 2014 Ekiti election.

“Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi boastfully claimed that they have enlisted the assurances of Justice Okon Abang and one or two other judges in the concocted fresh suit, hinged on the report of a useless, senseless, and orchestrated Military report not known to the Electoral law.”

Urging the CJN to take “notice of judicial pronouncements by courts of concurrent jurisdiction as well as the scathing remarks of appellate courts on how the said Justice Okon Abang has been used in the past by anti-democratic forces to endanger democracy and engage in deleterious miscarriage of justice”, Fayose prayed that the Judiciary would not succumb to devious plots to undermine its independence and integrity and rubbish its good name and hard-earned reputation any more.

“My Lord, you have a duty to ensure that no Judge under your watch is enlisted into this diabolical act by any rampaging anti-democratic elements.

“The embarrassing incidents currently playing out on our National Judicial horizon, with several judicial officers, including serving Justices of the Supreme Court, enmeshed in simulated and orchestrated corruption scandals and indictments by agencies of the Federal Government because they had refused, at one time or the other, to serve the base interests of the ruling APC government in matters pending before their Lordships, have kept us wondering whether the Judiciary will succumb to these unwarranted harassments and intimidation meant to coerce and cower it into submission and make this very important and indispensable Third Estate of the Realm subservient to the arbitrary wishes, whims, and caprices of the Executive and political desperados,” he said.

Describing himself as “a leading opposition figure in Nigeria today that has been very critical of the anti-people policies of the Federal Government and its anti-democratic actions that endanger our renascent democracy”, Fayose added that “democracy without virile opposition will eventually turn into a dictatorship, which is currently being experienced.”

Fayose said he would continue to believe in the Judiciary going by the open declaration of the CJN to defend the Independence of the Judiciary; maintain its integrity and deliver a virile and disciplined Judiciary that is impartial, independent, non-partisan, and not subservient to the selfish interests of any individual, group or cabal, however powerful or influential they may be.

The governor therefore expressed the confidence that Justice Onnoghen in particular and the Judiciary in general would not only refuse to fall for the APC’s cheap and pedestrian blackmail but would also resolutely and confidently defend the hallowed grounds of the Judiciary and secure them from desecration by anti-democratic forces running riot all over the country.

Impeach Fayose now – Group tells NASS

A pro-anti-corruption group, the Coalition for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption has called on the National Assembly to immediately impeach Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The group claimed that Fayose had no regard for the office he was occupying.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, National Secretary of the coalition, Comrade Audu Joseph said it had become necessary to impeach the governor over several allegations of corruption and criminal conducts surrounding him.

Joseph said failure to impeach Fayose within or after 14 days will draw mass protest from Nigerians.

According to him, the coalition has the mandate of 34 Civil Society organizations that are on standby to mobilize not just their members but also Nigerians from all walks of life if the government continues to pander to Fayose’s antics as opposed to heeding the calls by Nigerians.

He said, “There is proof that the Ekiti State House of Assembly can no longer perform its functions and the National Assembly should consider taking over those functions to ensure that the needful is done.”

He said, “To the National Assembly, we demand that a declaration of the doctrine of necessity to waive Fayose’s immunity is non-negotiable at this point such that people enjoying immunity can be allowed to answer to criminal charges like the current situation where security funds were embezzled and millions of Nigerians including the armed forces had to pay the supreme price.

In the last quarter of 2016, details emerged of how N4.7 billion naira being part of the stolen $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase found its way into Ayo Fayose’s bank account after the money was ferried across the country in a private jet and bullion vans, according to Obanikoro’s testimony after he turned himself in to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).‎

Just a few days ago, on December 29, 2016 another audio surfaced of Fayose with his partner in crime, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, in which both men discussed without remorse, about how they compromised the December 10 legislative election re-run in Rivers state.‎

Not once did either of them acknowledge the magnitude of the crime committed, which included the murder of some policemen in addition to the now habitual sabotaging of the wishes of the electorates.”

God will shame my husband’s enemies, says Fayose’s wife

Wife of Ekiti State governor, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose yesterday asked God to expose all enemies working against the Fayose-led government.

Mrs. Fayose who made statement during this year’s edition of inter-religious thanksgiving service organized by the state government, said that it was high time for all enemies of Fayose, very close to him, but pretending as friends, to be exposed in shame.

“Every enemy pretending as friends, close to the government of Ayo Fayose and working against the government , the Lord will expose them with shame this year.

Enough is enough” She urged Ekiti people to dismiss any negative predictions against the state and its government, adding that God has assured her not to entertain any fear for her husband’s government in 2017 In her words, “Don’t listen to whatever prophecies you are hearing from anyone.

Anybody can say whatever they feel, but God has given all the power to turn every negative utterances to your favour.

Confess positive things about Ekiti and it shall be so, no matter what any one says. “God has assured me through Isaiah 41:13, saying ‘Fear not’, there are 365 ‘fear nots’ in the Bible, one for each day in a year.

God continued saying: for I the lord thy God will hold thy right hand , saying unto thee, fear not I’ll help thee” The Lord said He will help us and we should fear not.

I pray the Lord will give us the grace and enablement to hold these words and confess them daily.”

Mrs Fayose, also gave testimony about the challenges her husband face in 2016: according to her, “My testimony is unending because God has been good to me gracious and wonderful to my family.

I will lose count in tabulating them; in all families he favoured my family, favoured my husband and me among all men and women. It is not to say we are the most perfect or wonderful it is just because He has chosen to love us.

“2015, Dec, lord said that we will have series of victories in 2016, when you are expecting victories prepare for battle. ” In spite of all challenges I held on to His word that I will have series of victory and I continued to ask for God’s Grace.

If It had not been for the Lord, we would have lost out: it is not because Fayose is a superman. It is just God’s grace. Whoever is not happy with this government, you are contending with God not us.

I sincerely congratulate all who stood by us in this government so far. ” In his sermon at the occasion, Pastor in charge of Ekiti branch of Christ Apostolic Church, (CAC), Chapel of Mercy, Pastor Joseph Babatope Adeyemo, enjoined all Ekiti people to continue to have hope against all odds, saying: “Hope is a state of mind that keeps us going in life.

I urge us to enlarge our hope for the good of the state and nation at large. ” One who has hope will stand every adversaries: we all know last year was very difficult, we were worst hit because we are predominantly a consuming nation; leading to economic recession.

We should have hope because e serve a God who can bring something out of nothing. The message for us is to hope against hope for our blessings shall come.

Abraham was hopeful and patience and eventually had Isaac.” Chaplain of the government House chapel, Pastor Olusola led the prayer session at the event while dignitaries at the occasion included top government functionaries who included the Deputy Governor, Mr. Olusola Eleka, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Pastor Oluwawole Kolawole, Secretary to the State Government, (SSG), Dr. Modupe Alade, Head of Service, Dr. Olugbenga Faseluka, mother of the governor, Evangelist Dr Olwafunke Oluwayose, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, Senate Deputy Minority Whip.

  • Group wants Fayose to answer charges on arms allegations

An anti-corruption group, the Coalition for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption has called on the National Assembly to immediately invoke the doctrine of necessity that will necessitate the removal and subsequent prosecution of Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose over what it described as abuse of office.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, National Secretary of the Coalition, Comrade Audu Joseph said it has become to remove the governor over several allegations of corruption and criminal conducts surrounding the governor.

Joseph said failure to impeach Fayose within or after 14 days will draw mass protest from Nigerians. He said the coalition has the mandate of 34 Civil Society organizations that are on standby to mobilize not just their members but also Nigerians from all walks of life if the government continues to pander to Fayose’s antics as opposed to heeding the calls by Nigerians.

He said the Coalition would ordinarily have asked the Ekiti State House of Assembly to begin impeachment proceedings against Fayose for gross violation and breach of the constitution but realised that all its members without exception are compromised and intimidated to an extent that they cannot even properly treat the state’s budget before passage.

He said, “This is proof that the Ekiti State House of Assembly can no longer perform its functions and the National Assembly should consider taking over those functions to ensure that the needful is done.

He said further, “To the National Assembly, we demand that a declaration of the doctrine of necessity to waive Fayose’s immunity is non-negotiable at this point such that people enjoying immunity can be allowed to answer to criminal charges like the current situation where security funds were embezzled and millions of Nigerians including the armed forces had to pay the supreme price.”
