Buhari is Nigeria’s ‘low budget’ Trump – Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari again, saying he would be remembered like outgoing American president, Donald Trump.

The former governor said Nigerians could not wait to see the end of the regime of President Buhari, just as Americans look forward to the exit of Donald Trump.

“Buhari will be remembered like Trump because it is obvious that he is the low budget Trump when damages done to their countries are compared, Fayose tweeted.

Fayose alleged further that everything has been destroyed under the watch of President Buhari.

“Everything that matters has been destroyed under the watch of Buhari. All the values that we share as a country – economy, security, human rights, rule of law, credible elections, and unity of the country have been destroyed.

President Trump will exit the White House on Wednesday morning shortly before the inauguration of Democrat Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States.

The outgoing American president’s policies during his tenure has been criticized by Americans and world leaders.

Trump during his reign was also impeached twice as the President by the United States House of Representatives.

  • I’ve been vindicated that Buhari lacked capacity to rule Nigeria – Fayose

I’ve been vindicated that Buhari lacked capacity to rule Nigeria – Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose claimed he has been vindicated when he said in 2015 that President Muhammadu Buhari lacked the capacity to rule Nigeria.

Fayose was reacting to a report that terrorists captured a military base in Borno.

The military has however debunked the report.

Holding on to the earlier story, Fayose mocked Buhari and his service chiefs, describing the service chiefs as obsolete.

He wrote on his twitter handle: “Less than 4 days after President Buhari gleefully told Nigerians that security situation in the North-East under him is better than what it used to be, terrorists attacked and captured a Military Base in Borno State!

“A whole Military Base captured by terrorists! Isn’t this a “job well done” by the President and his obsolete Service Chiefs?

“They are indeed “doing well for keeping the country safer than the President met it.”

“Now Nigerians can appreciate why I insisted in 2015 that Buhari lacked the needed capacity to rule Nigeria.

“As for Nigerians, we are all on our own waiting for God’s deliverance from these taskmasters.”

  • Fayose tackles Gov Makinde over leadership of PDP in South West

A former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has said Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is not the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-west.

He noted that leadership should be earned and not for anyone as a title.

Fayose added that an ex-Ondo State Information Commissioner, Dr Eddy Olafeso, should be the next PDP National Vice Chairman (West) as, according to him, earlier agreed in Makinde’s house at Ibadan, Oyo State.

Fayose and Makinde have been at loggerheads over the leadership of the South-West PDP.

The ex-governor spoke in Lagos on Monday while receiving prominent members of the party who paid him a solidarity visit.

The delegation was led by Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, representing Ondo South District in the National Assembly.

Among the delegation were Olafeso, former House of Representatives member, Lad Ojomo, ex-House of Assembly member, Niyi Ogunboye, Chief Ibini Oyedele, Chief Tunde Akindehin, Pastor Larry Ogunmusere, Ife Akinsoyinu, Sola Ebiwonjumi, Olusola Adewo, Adeolu Akinseye and Ebenezer Alabi.

Fayose commended members of the delegation for “not sitting on the fence.”

He stated, “It is dangerous to sit on the fence. I don’t play to the gallery.”

He also berated Makinde’s supporters for calling him an “APC man,” adding that why wasn’t he labelled as such when he supported the Oyo State governor and worked for his victory in last general elections.

Fayose added, “Tell the baby governor that the way up is the way down. Let Makinde put feeding bottle in the mouth of his dogs. You are called a leader because you earned it, not your title.

“Can I be an All Progressives Congress man and be fighting Buhari (the President, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)? I was governor at 42. He is governor at 51. I don’t deserve an insult from Makinde.

“Governor Makinde is not my leader. He is my follower. Respect should beget respect. I have been a warrior. They thought I will be with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission now. But, I am surviving.”

Senator Tofowomo, who said Fayose was a credible leader of the PDP in the South-West, added that he was accessible, a grass-roots operator and a defender of fairness, equity and justice in the party in the last 17 years.

On his part, Ojomo described Fayose as a great and faithful leader worthy of pride, saying he was a fighter for justice.

Those who voted for Buhari brought us hopelessness – Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose on Friday said Nigerians who voted for President Muhammadu Buhari brought the nation into hopelessness.

Fayose spoke in reaction to the release of Kankara Government Science Secondary School students by Boko Haram.

The former governor, after watching a video of the boys’ release, said he grieved with the victims who are the future of the nation.

“I saw this video and I grief for these young boys and the future Nigerians.

“Those who voted this President can’t but agree with me that their votes brought us into this state hopelessness. This has nothing to do with tribe, religion or age but ineptness of a leader.

“Regrettably, we have entered this one chance. A President, who cannot protect his own kinsmen can definitely not protect anyone in any part of the country.

“We are all own our own. I hope we all learn from these experiences going forward.

“As per the story of the abduction and (freedom) release of the boys that is shrouded in secrecy, the more Nigerians look, the less they see. I’m however persuaded that, truth will be told someday,” he said.

Alleged N2.2bn fraud: Court okays foreign medical trip for Fayose

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday authorised a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, who is facing an alleged N2.2billion fraud trial, to go on a foreign medical trip.

Justice C.J. Aneke made the order following an application by Fayose’s lawyer, Ola Olanipekun (SAN).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which is prosecuting Fayose through its counsel Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), did not oppose the application.

The judge adjourned further hearing in the case till January 22, 2021.

Fayose is on trial alongside a firm, Spotless Investment Ltd.

The EFCC alleged, among others, that Fayose, on June 17, 2014, “took possession of the sum of N1, 219,000,000 to fund your 2014 gubernatorial campaign in Ekiti State, which you reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act, to wit: criminal breach of trust/stealing.”

The ex-governor was also alleged to have on the same day “received a cash payment of $5,000,000 from Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, the then Minister of State for Defence, which sum exceeded the amount authorised by law and you thereby committed an offence contrary to sections 1 and 16(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and punishable under Section 16 (2)(b) of the same Act.”

The EFCC also alleged that Fayose purchased a property known as No.44, Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja for N200m in the name of “your elder sister, Mrs Moji Oladeji.”

But Fayose and Spotless Investment Limited have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

  • Attempts to pull down Tinubu will fail-Fayose

Attempts to pull down Tinubu will fail-Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has averred that series of hidden plots to pull down National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by some politicians in the southwest will fail.

Fayose said he would never associate nor join the group of rebels to destroy Tinubu because he had laboured for the nation through his focused leadership which stirred the growth of Yoruba socio-political space through a number of leaders who are occupying vantage leadership positions across the country.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, who spoke at his Afao-Ekiti country home in Ekiti State, noted that some politicians Tinubu nurtured to political prominence are allegedly behind his travail on account of personal interest.

He noted that Southwest people would resist any attempts by to ridicule Tinubu, whom he described as image of Yoruba nation, noting that any attack against the former Lagos State Governor is an attack on the entire Yoruba people.

He stated that APC stalwart does not deserves to be crucified and humiliated by some his political mentees, saying he had sacrificed enormously to groom and raise them from political obscurity to limelight.

Fayose said, the conspiracy against the ex-governor which was part of strategies to divide and create confusion among the Yoruba people would fail, urging the Yoruba sons and daughters to support and accord him the necessary regards.

The former governor said he would never cease to raise his voice against people plotting Tinubu’s downfall, stressing that he had paid his dues which needed to be acknowledged by all and sundry.

He clarified that though he was not holding brief for Tinubu, but stressed that people should learn to appreciate those who had done creditably well in nation-building despite political differences.

“I am not championing the course of Tinubu, am not in the position to do that, but there is no denying the fact that Tinubu is a prominent Yoruba leader, whether in APC or in PDP. There is no gainsaying that fact. Fayose is a prominent son of Yoruba nation. Governors Nyesom Wike , Ifeanyi Okowa, Okezie Ikpeazu, are prominent sons of southern Nigeria.

“What am I trying to say is that, we can’t hid their identities and goodwill for political reasons. We can’t deny their contributions. Other leaders from the North like Ahmadu Bello Sardauna, they made different impacts not necessarily like Awolowo. So, Tinubu has paid his dues. I have paid my dues, Okowa has paid his dues, Wike has paid his dues, we need to acknowledge them.

“The late Balarabe Musa, who was a leader of note and repute, cannot be forgotten in history. For me, Tinubu, has paid his dues, I stand by that. I have not seen Tinubu after the Ekiti election by any means, we haven’t even met at a function or saw him passed.

“President Muhammadu Buhari condoled with me on the death of my sister, does it mean we are on the same page politically? No. I will not sit down in any corner to shoot down Tinubu. I am not a member of APC and I will never be. But I supported Governor Fayemi to be governor by Tinubu’s influence at a time”.

Fayose said in spite of the multifaceted crises in the PDP, that he won’t jump ship like some leaders of the party had done, saying: “if we are fighting in PDP, let us fight it inside PDP. People who have been jumping ship are armed robbers. They are being driven by greed and inordinate ambition.

“These are indications of the type of leaders we have in our country who are without ideology. They go for only what they feel would benefit them.

“Our politics is sick. Everything in Nigeria is currently sick and is a function of the leadership that we have have. Governor Umahi’s joining APC after benefiting several positions in PDP was unprincipled. We do not accept the excuses given by the governor.

“I am not satisfied with some things in PDP, but, leaving the party does not equally solve the problems”, he said
Fayose assured that all the raging crises between him and other leaders of the party in Ekiti and the Southwest region would be resolved in the overall interest of the PDP.

“There is nothing to worry about. If Governor Seyi Makinde and I have issues ,Nigerians should not worry themselves about that, it is not personal. There is no regional government. Every power lies in the state. Structures in Ekiti, are different from structures in Oyo, structures in Oyo are different from structures in Lagos.

“I was the one who went to flag off Governor Makinde campaign in Ogbomoso. Whether he is backing Senator Olujimi or not, the fact remains that the struggle for the control of party’s structures in Ekiti has come and gone, so why do we have to fight over spilled milk?

“We won the congresses, but they are in court, if the court says it’s Olujimi that is right, we would follow her and if the court says she has no case, they should join us so that we can move the party forward. Let us pursue our interest legitimately in the manners that will create peace in the region,” he added.

I must not die like Bola Ige- Fayose condemns cap removal at PDP rally

Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has condemned the removal of his cap by thugs at the Peoples Democratic Party rally in Ondo State on Wednesday.

Fayose cautioned that what happened to the late Bola Ige must not happen to him after the incident.

TheNewGuru recalls that Ige’s cap was removed at the Palace of the Ooni of Ife just before his assassins struck and shot him dead at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on December 23, 2001.

In a video that surfaced online, Fayose was making his way to the podium at the campaign ground when some hooligans moved towards him and removed his cap.

Fayose said he would “make a formal report of the occurrence to the security agencies and the party relevant authorities”, noting that “it was not something to be handled with levity as security agencies will have to unravel all the thugs brought to the event and their sponsors”.

In a statement by his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, the former governor accused a governor and a former Deputy National Chairman of PDP of hatching the assault on him at the party’s campaign rally for the Ondo State governorship election in Ondo town.

Fayose stated that despite “the shameful act”, he “won’t stop saying the truth concerning the running of the party in the South-West zone and those who have failed to produce any result in Lagos State since 1999 will be made to retire.”

While warning that nothing must happen to him, Fayose said, “That’s how late Chief Bola Ige’s cap was removed in Ile-Ife, Osun State then and we all know what happened later.

“So this one will not be ignored and treated as one of those things.

“The masterminds had it all planned and they followed it up by celebrating what they saw as the success of their plot. They even capped it up by circulating the video.

“So it was not an accident, it was planned. But those who planned it only succeeded in advertising their political myopism because the popularity of the brand Ayo Fayose, Osokomole cannot be rubbished by such a childish act.

“That they must have seen in the reaction of the people at the rally and I am sure they know that they can’t get such loud ovation even if they spend all the money in this world.

“As for me, I am unperturbed and I must say it clearly that those newcomers to the PDP and their old allies, who won’t mind soiling the image of the party to achieve their aims will not be allowed to succeed.”

VIDEO: Thugs descend on Fayose at Ondo PDP rally, remove his cap

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose was assaulted at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) mega rally in Ondo state on Wednesday.

Upon arrival at the venue of the rally, Fayose was accosted by some PDP supporters who removed his cap and threatened to beat him up.

The youths said Fayose deserves the treatment for insulting some elders of the party, especially Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP.

However, Fayose has accused Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of masterminding the assault on him.

He described the assault as an attempt to kill him.

Fayose said he will report the incident to security agencies and the party relevant authorities for further investigation.

“That’s how late Chief Bola Ige’s cap was removed in Ile Ife, Osun State then and we all know what happened later,” the former governor stated.

Fayose said he will not wave the threat aside, adding that the masterminds “had it all planned and they followed it up by celebrating what they saw as the success of their plot. They even capped it up by circulating the video.

“So it was not an accident, it was planned. But those who planned it only succeeded in advertising their political myopism, because the popularity of the brand Ayo Fayose, Osokomole cannot be rubbished by such childish acts.

  • Nigeria@60: Again, Fayose bombs Buhari, APC

Nigeria@60: Again, Fayose bombs Buhari, APC

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said the only thing that would give Nigerians “unspeakable joy” as the country turns 60 was the announcement of the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

He also claimed Buhari’s regime is the worst in Nigeria’s history.

Fayose in his message to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary noted that the country is “presently in coma and on life-support” under Buhari.

The message was made available to journalists by Fayose’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka.

The former governor said there was nothing to celebrate in a country bedeviled with insecurity, hunger, bare-faced corruption, and bad governance.

He said, “The government is for the people and not the people for the government. It must therefore be accountable to people. The police must also be mindful of the fact that they are part of society.

“The reality is that Nigerians are not happy with the present situation of the country. More so that this present government appears to be the worst in the history of Nigeria.

“Nigerians are not happy about the debts accumulated by this government because they can’t see anything being done with the money borrowed.

“They are angry that they can no longer go to their farms, travel on the roads and even sleep in their homes without the fear of being kidnapped, killed or raped by armed bandits.

“Nobody wants Nigeria to disintegrate. Rather, Nigerians want to live their lives normally without minding which party is in government, and as it appears, living in Nigeria has been made extremely difficult by this government.

“Painfully, most of those who are desirous of leaving the country for greener pastures abroad are unable to do so because advanced countries are banning Nigerians from coming to their countries.

“The already weak shoulders of Nigerians are being made to carry too much burden and they have rights to show their displeasure.”

PDP commiserates with Fayose over sister’s death

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commiserated with the former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, over the death of his sister, Madam Moji Ladeji.

Ladeji died on Sept. 21 after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by PDP National Publicity secretary to commiserate with Fayose and the Ladeji family, the party said: “our thoughts and prayers go out to them at this moment of grief.

”Madam Ladeji was an exceptionally good-hearted personality who stood beside his brother, the former governor of Ekiti, with wise counsel and prayers, which immensely contributed to his success as governor.

“In our grief, we are however consoled that Madam Ladeji lived as a devout Christian and we believe that she has found rest in the bosom of the Saviour.

“Our party commiserates with the Fayose and Ladeji families and pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.’’
