Fani Kayode lambast former principal, Obasanjo for humiliating Oyo Monarchs

Femi Fani-Kayode popularly known as (FFK) a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has knocked his  former principal and  President of the country,  Olusegun Obasanjo over what he described as  humiliation of monarchs in Oyo State.

Recall that Obasanjo had in a viral video berated traditional rulers for not acknowledging his presence and govenor Seyi Makinde  by standing up for them at a public event in Iseyin, Oyo State, on Friday.

The former president was sighted asking the Obas to stand up  and later ordered them to sit down.

The development has triggered reactions from Yoruba stakeholders, who described Obasanjo’s action as disrespect to the traditional rulers.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode in a statement issued on his official X handle, said he was “deeply saddened and utterly mortified”, by Obasanjo’s action.

The former Aviation Minister said the action of the former president was beyond jokes, stressing that Obasanjo has spat on the faces of all Yoruba indigene.

His statement reads partly: “I am deeply saddened and utterly mortified by the way in which former President Olusegun Obasanjo lambasted our revered traditional rulers in Oyo state and ‘ordered’ them to ‘stand up’ and ‘sit down’ as if they were children.

“This is the same OBJ that, once upon a time, displayed his respect, humility and I daresay greatness by bowing, kneeling and prostrating before our monarchs, even when he was President, yet today he talks to them as if they are his garbage collectors and orders them to jump up and down like a molue driver talking to his beleaguered passengers and a motor park tout talking to a bunch of jobless and worthless underlings.

“Many think that the whole thing is some kind of joke but I do not. We must not take it lightly and the truth is that by doing what he did he has spat on all our faces.”

The Obasanjo/ Oba incident  happened at the commissioning of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH’s College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin, on Friday.

  • Femi Fani-Kayode fumes over blackout in Niger Republic

Femi Fani-Kayode fumes over blackout in Niger Republic

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has questioned the rationale behind cutting off electricity supplies to the people of Niger Republic following the military coup that ousted the country’s elected president.

According to Fani-Kayode, a dear and respected friend confided in him that up to 40 babies die each day in Niger as a consequence of the blackout.

According to him, these babies die in hospitals and incubators across the country as a consequence of the fact that there is no electricity supply and there is no fuel to power their generators.

According to a source in Niger Republic, Dr. Abdoul Djibou, there has been reports from Dosso Regional Hospital and Cominak Hospital about the recent spike in infant mortality.

According to him, over 40 babies die daily in Niger since the Nigerian government cutoff Electricity supply to Niger and also closed its borders.

“It has affected hospital badly as they’re unable to power their incubators and other life supporting equipment to assist these babies. He also mentioned that the closed borders has made it nearly impossible for hospitals to access petroleum products especially Diesel and Petrol to power their plants and generators.

“This is aside the untold hardships that the general populace are grasping with in Niger. He has made a passionate appeal for the Nigerian government to reconsider its decision even though backed by the ECOWAS.

“He stressed the need for the Nigerian government to remember that the people of Niger are more like an extension of northern Nigeria.

“In his opinion, he believed strongly that the ongoing negotiations with the Junta leaders will yield results and stressed the need for the negotiations to be intensified instead of beating the drums of war and upholding the current stiff sanctions that has now crippled the economy and the health sector especially,” a report by quoted Dr Djibou to have said.

Similarly, Africa News had reported that the U.N. is spending over 20 times more money than usual on fuel for generators to keep millions of vaccines in Niger from spoiling due to incessant power cuts.

“The outages are the result of severe economic and travel sanctions imposed by regional countries after mutinous soldiers toppled the country’s president last month.

“Country representative for the United Nations Children´s Fund in Niger, Stefano Savi, said it has spent $200,000 powering generators to keep vaccines, including for polio and rotavirus, across the country cold during the first three weeks of August.

“That’s up from approximately $10,000 a month previously and might soon run out of money, he said. Niger relies on neighboring Nigeria for up to 90% of its power, but after soldiers ousted democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum in July, Nigeria cut off part of its electricity supply as part of sanctions imposed by the West African regional bloc, ECOWAS.

“The sanctions are taking a toll on the population with the price of goods rising, residents unable to easily access cash, and people living in the dark.

“Now there are mounting concerns it will gravely impact the health system, particularly the ability to keep some 28 million vaccine doses in the country cold.

“Although there were power cuts before the sanctions, they usually lasted a few hours, but now the cuts are much longer – sometimes up to 18 hours a day, said Savi. UNICEF only has enough money until the end of August and is appealing to donors for emergency funds,” the report reads.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode called on President Bola Tinubu, who is currently the Chairman of ECOWAS, to review and reverse this policy and allow Nigeria to continue to supply electricity to Niger Republic.

“How can we as a nation inflict such damage and unleash such wickedness and misfortune on innocent people who live just across the border from us and who are essentially our people too?

“This is unacceptable and especially so given the fact that we are not at war with Niger and the overwhelming majority of our people regard them as our brothers.

“This begs the question: is this the way to treat our African neighbours and brothers even whilst we lay claim to seeking and preferring a diplomatic solution to the crisis? Methinks not!

“If our claim and intention is to better the life of these people by insisting that they must have a democratically-elected Government and by resisting a military one is our purpose truly served by killing the children of the very same people that we claim we want to help?

“Again does this murky and murderous course serve our national and security interests and does it enhance better relations with other African countries?

“Does imposing sanctions and policies like cutting off electrical supplies and that, albeit inadvertently, lead directly to the death of innocent babies and defenceless children help our cause, bring glory to our name or give credence or credibility to our so-called fight and quest for democracy? I doubt it very much.

“I call on our leader and President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently the Chairman of ECOWAS, to review and reverse this policy and allow us to continue to supply electricity to Niger.

“This is all the more so given the fact that cutting off electricity to that nation is bringing death, suffering and hardship more to the women and children than to their Government officials and members of the newly-installed military junta.

“Surely Niger’s suspension from both ECOWAS and the African Union coupled with the imposition of a series of strong economic sanctions including the closing of borders and the imposition of a no fly zone, are enough punishment.

“We must never forget that there is a distinction between the Government of a nation and it’s people.

“Punishing the people for the sins of their leaders and Government is not only unjust and unkind but also counter-productive,” the former Minister stated.

Niger coup: Fani-Kayode warns Mali, Burkina Faso

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has warned African countries, including Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso, not to lightly wake Nigeria’s sleeping sword, advising them that they should think twice before threatening Nigeria with war.

Fani-Kayode said he frowns at videos of Nigerien, Burkinabe and Malian soldiers marching and chanting war songs against Nigeria while being applauded and egged on by ecstatic French-speaking crowds who reigned curses on the nation’s president.

In a lengthy post on his Twitter handle on Sunday, Fani-Kayode warned, “Before provoking our nation into armed conflict and threatening us with war our traducers should know we are a peace-loving people who are kind, compassionate, hard-working and accommodating.”

He also boasted that the size of the economy and GDP of all the countries in Africa ruled by military dictators put together, including Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, Sudan, Guinea and the Niger Republic are nowhere near that of Lagos State alone.

“They forget that we are a country that has almost singlehandedly confronted and contained the two most deadly terrorist organisations and armies in the world, ISWAP and Boko Haram, and a separatist movement known as IPOB with its own fledgling terrorist army known as the ESN and yet we still stand undeterred and strong.

“Such is the courage, strength, resilience, fighting spirit, foresight, fortitude and sense of patriotism of the Nigerian.

“Before you threaten us with war think twice, study our history and learn about who we are and what we are capable of doing.”

Court strikes out Sen. Brent’s defamation suit against Fani-Kayode’s wife

A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday struck out a suit filed by Sen. Grace Bent against Precious Chikwendu, wife of former Aviation Minister, Cheif Femi Fani-Kayode.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu threw out the suit for want of diligent prosecution.

It would be recalled that Mrs Brent, through the Nigerian Police, instituted the case against Chikwendu, the ex-beauty queen in 2021.

She was, on March 10, 2022, arraigned by the police on allegations bordering on defamation of character and cyberstalking.

But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and the judge admitted her to bail in the terms of the administrative bail earlier granted her by the police.

Though Chikwendu and the ex-minister were in court on March 29 when the matter came up, the prosecuting lawyer was conspicuously absent and no reason was given for the non-appearance, forcing the judge to fixed the matter for May 9.

When the case was called up for hearing on Tuesday, the prosecuting lawyer, N.D. Elodimuo, said though the matter was slated for hearing and he was ready to go on, their witness was not in court.

Elodimuo then asked for a short adjournment.

But Chikwendu’s counsel, Emeka Uchegbulam, disagreed with Elodimuo on his application for a short adjournment.

Uchegbulam prayed the court to dismiss the suit for lack of diligent prosecution.

According to him, from the date this matter was filed, they have not shown diligence in prosecution.

“This has been the attitude in every appearance,” he said.

“When a prosecution has not shown any diligence in prosecuting a case, the only option left for the court is to dismiss it.

“We urge the court to so hold,” he added, citing previous case to back his argument.

Elodimuo, who objected to Uchegbulam’s application, said Section 396(4) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 provided that, each party was entitled to fair hearing, and that the defence had not shown reasonable ground for a call for the dismissal of the suit.

Justice Egwuatu told Elodimuo that he expected him to apologise for the absence in the last adjourned date “but you just stepped into court as if nothing happened.

“You did not even give any reason why your witness is not in court.”

When the judge asked him if they had other witnesses in the matter, the lawyer said though the IPO was a witness, the officer was on official duty.

“When did you file this charge?” Justice Egwuatu asked.

“We filed it in 2021,” the lawyer responded.

In a ruling, the judge struck out the charge for want in diligent prosecution.

He held that the prosecution, apparently, was not ready to prosecute the matter.

Chikwendu, who had been in court for no fewer than 11 times since the matter began, was sighted alongside her husband, Mr Fani-Kayode, feeling elated.

  • “Britain is not supposed to interfere in our internal affairs” -FFK tells British envoy

“Britain is not supposed to interfere in our internal affairs” -FFK tells British envoy

A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has told the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ben Llewellyn-Jones, that “they are not supposed to interfere in our internal affairs”.

FFK tackled the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ben Llewellyn-Jones, after the envoy faulted him on some comments he made during the just-concluded electioneering in Lagos State.

Llewellyn-Jones, speaking on a current affairs programme on Nigerian Info on Sunday, also lamented that the ruling APC had yet to distance itself from the controversial comments made by Fani-Kayode, to which the former aviation minister in a series of tweet on Sunday evening said he wouldn’t be intimidated by a “British civil servant”.

However, in a fresh tweet on Monday morning, FFK, who is also a member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, challenged the British envoy to do his worst, saying he feared no one.

He wrote, “Permit me to add the following addendum to my earlier personal response to the little Englander. I ask, who is this strange little British diplomat who believes he can tell us what Lagos state should be like in terms of ethnic make-up and how it should be run?

“He has accused me of hate speech and incitement simply because I said Lagos is not a no man’s land and that the Yoruba ought to be respected in their territory.

“Well, let me say clearly and categorically that I have no apology for saying this and I stand by every word I said. We do not need any lessons from him. Foreign diplomats come to this country to enhance our relationship with theirs and not to give us lectures.

“They are not supposed to interfere in our internal affairs, to be partial, to tell us what to do or to tell us how to do it. They are meant to observe in studied silence and make their concerns and representations, if any, known privately. They cannot get into the political ring of fire.”

He added that foreign diplomats should not tell people who to vote for, how to vote or what God to worship.

Challenging the British envoy to do his worst, FFK said, “That strange little bald man with slooping shoulders at the British Embassy has really got a nerve. I will take up this matter formally. His diplomatic immunity is not absolute: it is qualified. He is therefore subject to our laws.

“As for his threats, I challenge him to do his very worst. We are not your slaves. Nigeria is an independent sovereign nation. We are no longer a colony. To hell with him and those that are egging him on and licking his feet. I am FFK: I fear no-one and I bow before no man.”

Continuing he said the hands of the British government were also not clean saying their “strong economy was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Irish, African and Indian slaves.”

“The days of dictation are long gone. What they are trying to do in our country and to our country will not work. Bola Tinubu won a free and fair election and, whether they like it or not, he will be sworn in on May 29th 2023.

“Those that want to impose an ING on our nation and follow it up with a civil war in an attempt to dismember and destroy her shall not prevail. Nigeria shall remain united, shall be at peace, shall flourish, shall we excel and democracy shall be alive and well in our nation for many years to come,” he added.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) Recalls that the British High Commission had last week said the UK Minister of State for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell MP, was prepared to take action against those who engaged in or incited electoral violence during the just-concluded general elections.

Llewellyn-Jones, yesterday, said the UK was already collating names of perpetrators and would impose sanctions “including preventing people from obtaining UK visas or imposing sanctions under our human rights sanctions regime.”

Visa ban: Fani-Kayode engages UK Envoy in war of words

Former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode has engaged Ben Llewellyn-Jones, British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria in a war of words after the British envoy expressed displeasure over perceived controversial comments made by the former Aviation Minister.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Llewellyn-Jones in an interview with Nigeria Info FM criticised Fani-Kayode, who is also an APC presidential campaign council’s director of new media, over perceived controversial comments he made during the electoral season.

When asked if there were triggers of violence leading up from the campaign to the election, the UK envoy said he was puzzled as to why Fani-Kayode would make such statements, adding that the APC should have distanced itself from the former minister’s utterances.

“Yes, let’s be specific, there were some people, like Femi Fani-Kayode, what is he saying and why is he saying it? I don’t understand.

“It is wrong from my perspective that he will speak on behalf of a party and that party does not distance itself from him and say stop doing that. It is wrong to say that.

“To me it is really important, people who have said I am part of a party’s press and media campaign, well, the party itself should say no you are not, and you should stop and we do not agree.

“I know that some leaders very clearly said we are about unity, and that is good, I encourage that.

“The problem is if you get the other people over here, who are very clearly associated with the party and giving you another message, and there isn’t any kind of calling out of that. What would you take from that as a voter?” Llewellyn-Jones said.

The deputy high commissioner resounded the UK visa ban threat to those undermining democracy, adding that about 10 persons were on the growing watchlist.

“We watched very closely. We have a list, we are working through our list but we don’t publish those names. I know people say we should, but we have laws, and the law prevents us from doing that,” he said.

“We said we will do this and we will do this. And we are gathering the kind of information that will enable us do this, on specific individuals. At the moment the list is between 5 and 10 and it is growing,” the British envoy disclosed.

However, in a swift reaction, Fani-Kayode took to Twitter to fire at Llewellyn-Jones, stressing that he cannot be intimidated by threat of visa ban.

He wrote: “These are my personal views and I am constrained to express them given the fact that one @benllewellynjo1, a misguided, mischievous and clearly unlettered Englander who does not know his place, threw away all caution and mentioned my name in his inglorious commentary.

“I would advise this Ben, who I am told is the Deputy High Commissioner of the UK to Nigeria, to keep his dirty nose out of our internal affairs. Nigeria stopped being a British colony 63 years ago and we need no lessons from him on how to run our affairs or conduct our politics.

“I know that his preferred candidate did not win the presidential election but that does not mean he should cross the line and take liberties with us here. I wonder who the hell he thinks he is?

“I am not one of those Nigerians that bows, shakes, shivers and trembles before the British or indeed any other foreigner. And unlike most I do not need any validation or endorsement from him or his ilk and neither can I be intimidated by his veiled threat of a visa ban. Frankly I could not care less.

“I would however take this opportunity to assure him that regardless of his views and desire to compel us to accept their godless so-called “humanist” and “libertarian” values and introduce evil practices and policies such as same-sex marriage in our country this will never be the case.

“My aversion for sod*mites remains as constant as the northern star and whether he likes it or not we will never allow a sod*mite to be our President.

“Neither will we accept lessons in decency, etiquette, what to say or how to speak from a fading British civil servant and a man that represents a nation that has committed more atrocities than perhaps any other in the history of humanity.

“I advise this little Englander to respect himself and remain a silent observer when it comes to the politics of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As a nation we are not a poodle of the British and we came of age 63 years ago.

“He should be more concerned about the shrinking fortunes of a once “Great Britain” and the systemic racism, inherent injustice and insufferable arrogance that is entrenched in the British establishment and society than in the intra party politics of Nigeria.

“He should also be more concerned with the efforts of his nation to bring us one step closer to WW3 given the unfolding events in Ukraine”.

He went further: “Permit me to add the followng addendum to my earlier personal response to the little Englander.

“I ask, who is this strange little British diplomat who believes he can tell us what Lagos state should be like in terms of ethnic make-up and how it should be run?

“He has accused me of hate speech and incitement simply because I said Lagos is not a no man’s land and that the Yoruba ought to be respected in their territory.

“Well let me say clearly and categorically that I have no apology for saying this and I stand by every word I said. We do not need any lessons from him.

“Foreign diplomats come to this country to enhance our relationship with theirs and not to give us lectures. They are not supposed to interfere in our internal affairs, to be partial, to tell us what to do or to tell us how to do it.

“They are meant to observe in studied silence and make their concerns and representations, if any, known privately. They cannot get into the political ring of fire. They cannot tell us how to vote, who to vote for, how to worship, what God to praise, who to marry, who not to marry and which party to support.

“Neither can they threaten us and impose their double standards and godless ‘woke’ and ‘globalist’ values on us. That strange little bald man with slooping shoulders at the British Embassy has really got a nerve.

“I will take up this matter formally.

I am FFK: I fear no-one and I bow before no man.

“Until his Government hands Tony Blair and others over to the ICC at the Hague for crimes against humanity and war crimes commited in Iraq, Afghanistan and Serbia and apologises for the the over one hundred years of unspeakable atrocities committed against the people of Africa, India, China, Indo- China, Asia-minor, the West Indies and indeed all her former colonies, I will NEVER take the British seriously or at their word.

“Millions were slaughtered and enslaved under their brutal yoke whilst their strong economy was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Irish, African and Indian slaves.

“Despite that they have offered no apology or paid any reparations for their evil yet they insist on imposing a system of indirect rule over us. Who is the fool here? The days of dictation are long gone.

“What they are trying to do in our country and to our country will not work. Bola Tinubu won a free and fair election and, whether they like it or not, he will be sworn in on May 29th 2023.

The Department of State Services, (DSS) has extended invitation to the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress, and presidential campaign council, Femi Fani-Kayode.

Fani-Kayode is invited by the DSS headquarters to answer questions based on allegations of a coup plot ahead of the February election.

Fani-Kayode confirmed the invitation by the DSS in a statement on Monday, stating that he would be honouring the invitation this on Monday.

Recall that the Osun state-born politician had claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) presidential candidate and top military generals had a secret meeting last week.

He alleged that the meeting may be part of an agenda to provoke a coup d’etat and establish a new and unconstitutional order in the country.

The All Progressive Congress, Presidential Campaign Council, director of new media, and former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has described the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, as an enemy of democracy.

He made this known through his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

Kayode noted that the policy of cancelling old notes must be stopped until after the election, and then done lawfully.

His statement reads; ”Emefiele has weaponised the CBN and is an enemy of democracy.

The policy of cancelling old notes must be totally cancelled until AFTER the election and then done lawfully.

He wants to cause a crisis, provoke a people’s uprising, derail our democracy and pave the way for an ING.

He has NO plans to release enough new naira notes any time soon.

He wants to STARVE the people of cash and drive them to rage out of frustration.

BREAKING: Serving Senator escapes assassin’s bullets in Abuja

A serving Senator Sani Musa (All Progressives Congress, APC Niger East), on Saturday, escaped an assassination attempt.

It was gathered that the assassins numbering nine stormed Senator Musa’s home in Abuja around 11 pm.

A former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the APC, Femi Fani-Kayode, confirmed the attack via a Twitter post. Fani-Kayode said some of the attackers have been arrested.

The horrendous attempt to kill Sen. Sani Musa, a dear friend & brother of mine, a leading member of the APC and one of the Directors in the Tinubu/Shettima PCC in his home this evening by 9 well-armed, bloodthirsty and violent assassins is despicable. I wholeheartedly condemn it.

“Thankfully some of the perpetrators have been apprehended by the security agencies and those that were behind this dastardly attempt to kill the Senator and his family shall be exposed and brought to justice. May God protect us all from evil and bloodthirsty men,” Fani-Kayode wrote.
