“Diet pills are myths and do not help in keeping fit in any form of way. To be fit, you need to exercise. That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be going to the gym daily. However, walking long miles daily could do a way better job than pills.Don’t get me wrong, some pill like vitamin D, calcium , vitamin c , cod liver are good supplements that helps with strong bones and body repairs”.

Jubilation as 3SC return to Nigeria Professional Football League

Prominent Nigerians and supporters on Sunday lauded the promotion of Ibadan-based Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

3SC on Saturday regained promotion to the elite division of the Nigerian league after securing seven points in the Nigeria National League Playoff.

3SC, popularly known as Oluyole Warriors, was relegated to the lower division of the league (NNL) in 2017 and had since struggled to return to the NPFL.

The club on Saturday dazed Ekiti United FC 6-0 in the Group B Conference, after defeating Bendel Insurance 3-0 and drawing 1-1 with Remo Stars.

Sen. Teslim Folarin (APC-Oyo Central) hailed the 3SC players and management on the promotion to NPFL, saying they deserved to be part of the nation`s elite league.

Folarin in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Yekeen Olaniyi, charged the team to strive harder and double its efforts at winning the NPFL.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Content, said the club unites the people of Oyo State just like football unites the world.

Prof. Adeolu Akande, Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) also congratulated the 3SC management and players on the club’s promotion to the premier league.

Akande expressed joy that Oluyole Warriors were back to the elite position in the Nigerian football league where they rightly belong.

The NCC boss expressed optimism that 3SC would re-enact its winning streaks of years past by qualifying and winning both national as well as continental laurels in the nearest future.

Also, Mr Rasheed Balogun, the 3SC General Manager, said the return of the Oluyole Warriors to NPFL was made possible by the commitment of Gov. Seyi Makinde.

Balogun commended football stakeholders in the state, including administrators, supporters, ex-3SC players and fans for their patience as well as support.

The 3SC boss said he was short of words to describe the warriors who fought and conquered the battle.

“The coaches, players and all the staff have made me proud; they have made my day. I can’t explain how grateful I am to these guys. They are simply fantastic,’’ he said.

3SC would on Sunday play the Group A Northern Conference leader, Niger Tornadoes FC of Niger, to determine the overall winner of the 2020/21 Nigeria National League.

Brazil clinch successive Olympic men’s football gold medal

Malcom showed his strength in extra-time to give Brazil a 2-1 win over Spain and a second straight Olympic men’s football gold medal on Saturday.

The Zenit St Petersburg player shrugged off defender Jesus Vallejo too easily and slotted home in the 108th minute, in spite of the best efforts of goalkeeper Unai Simon.

Brazil, who beat Germany on penalty kicks for their first Olympic men’s title in Rio five years ago, had an experienced side like Spain.

Veteran Dani Alves was among those complementing the under-23 side.

Hertha Berlin forward Matheus Cunha put Brazil ahead on the stroke of half-time in Yokohama and they should have already been in the lead but for Richarlison’s penalty kick miss.

The Everton forward then hit the bar in the second half.

This was just before Mikel Oyarzabal, who like Simon was also part of Spain’s Euro 2020 squad, levelled on 61 minutes with a superb volley.

Spain substitute Bryan Gil then rattled the woodwork from distance with a minute left of normal time.

Malcom had the final say however with Spain having a penalty kick appeal waved away minutes later.

Euro 2020 final: Football isn’t all about trophies-England declares

The England team has stated that football isn’t all about trophies, after its loss to Italy in the Euro 2020 finals.

The team made this known in a statement via its official Instagram page on Monday, after the Italian team came out victorious in the final Sunday match.

The statement read, “Football. It’s not just about trophies, and how we’re still waiting. It’s not about the goals we scored, or the ones we didn’t. It’s about the journeys we’ve taken, from our roots to the top. It’s the friends we’ve made, the people we represent and standing alongside them when times become hard. It’s being together. Football is family. It’s community. It’s unity. It’s home.”

Alongside the statement, the team also noted that they have made some history, even if they failed to achieve their dream.

“We made some history, but couldn’t achieve the one thing we’re all dreaming of. But football is about more than trophies, and we’ve seen that all summer. Coming home? Perhaps it was here all along,” England’s official Instagram wrote.

Italy inflicted more penalty anguish on England to win Sunday’s Euro 2020 final 3-2 in a shoot-out, Bukayo Saka missing the decisive kick to deny the hosts after the game at Wembley had ended in a draining 1-1 draw through extra time.
