  • Why Kanye West is not America’s richest black person

Why Kanye West is not America’s richest black person

The global media company and American business magazine, Forbes has frowned at reports that American rapper, Kanye West is the richest black American.

Forbes focuses majorly on listing and ranking in areas like business, investment, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership and marketing.

The magazine took to its official Twitter account @forbes on Friday, and tweeted: “No, Kanye West is not the richest black American. On Wednesday, multiple outlets reported that Kanye West is the richest black person in America, worth as much as 6.6 billion dollars’’.

The news comes after Bloomberg reported that his sneaker brand, Yeezy as well as Yeezy Gap, which had yet to sell one stitch of clothing have a combined value of as much as 4.7 billion dollars.

“The publication mentioned without going into full details an additional 1.7 billion dollars in assets and it is not true, based on our calculations.

“Forbes estimates he is worth less than a third of that, or 1.8 billion dollars. That’s a big jump from last May when Forbes first pegged his net worth to be 1.3 billion dollars, but nowhere near as much as the purported 6.6 billion dollars,’’ Forbes said.

The magazine noted that Vista Equity’s Robert F. Smith remains the richest black person in the U.S. with an estimated worth of 6 billion dollars.

It also said that Aliko Dangote of Nigeria with 11.8 billion dollars’ worth was the richest black person in the world.

“The sky-high estimate is the latest of West’s attempts to inflate his net worth in the past, he said that Forbes was purposely snubbing me.”

“In actuality, it is nothing personal. The Bloomberg story cites a UBS report on his businesses, the same document Forbes saw earlier this month.

“The bank made a number of assumptions based on projected future earnings, particularly for Yeezy Gap, which hasn’t even been inaugurated yet.

“Bank documents like this are well-known for painting best-possible-scenario future valuations.’’

West had been influential in the 21st-century development of mainstream hip hop and popular music.

He was first known as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing singles for several mainstream artists before he joined a solo career as a rapper.

West released his debut album: “The College Dropout’’ in 2004 to critical and commercial success.

He founded the record label GOOD Music and had released different songs.

Kanye West not US’ richest black man-Forbes

Renowned business publication, Forbes magazine has debunked claims that Kanye West is now the richest black man in the United States with an estimated net worth of $6.6 billion.

TheNewsGuru recalls that there were speculations on Wednesday that Yeezy, Kanye West’s sneaker business, as well as Yeezy Gap, are now valued at $4.7 billion while his assets are estimated at $1.7 billion.

The speculated reports which were based on documents cited by Bloomberg also said that the musician is now the richest black man in US history.

However in a blog post on Thursday, Forbes said the “reports that the celebrity is worth nearly $7 billion are based on the magical thinking around sales that don’t exist yet.”

The business magazine also revealed that its calculations showed that the ‘Ye’ singer is worth “less than one-third of the $6.6 billion or $1.8 billion.”

“It’s not true, based on our calculations. Forbes estimates he’s worth less than a third of that, or $1.8 billion. That’s a big jump from last May when Forbes first pegged his net worth to be $1.3 billion, but nowhere near as much as the purported $6.6 billion,” it said.

Forbes said Robert Smith, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Vista Equity, is currently the richest black man in the US with an estimated net worth of $6 billion.

It then stated that Aliko Dangote, Nigerian entrepreneur, is the richest black man in the world with an estimated $11.8 billion net worth.

“Vista Equity’s Robert F. Smith remains the richest black person in the U.S., worth an estimated $6 billion, while Aliko Dangote of Nigeria, worth $11.8 billion, is the richest Black person in the world,” it wrote.

“The sky high estimate is the latest of West’s attempts to inflate his net worth—in the past he’s said that Forbes was ‘purposely snubbing me.”

Forbes said Bloomberg’s previous report was based on bank booklets which are known for “painting best-possible-scenario future valuations.”

‘I thought Forbes was reputable’: Kylie Jenner breaks silence on being labelled fake billionaire

Kylie Jenner has dismissed a report by Forbes that accused her and her family of inflating her financial worth and forging tax returns.

The bombshell report by Forbes said that Kylie is no longer a billionaire and she had lied all these years.

The publication that ranks rich people worldwide claimed Kylie Cosmetics was overvalued.

It said the $324m pocketed by Kylie in January from a 51 percent sale to Coty, showed the entrepreneur had exaggerated her worth.

It now put her net worth at $900 million.

Apparently unaware of the report, Kylie said she woke up to read a ” number of inaccurate statements and unproven assumptions”, made by Forbes.

She also denied lying to be classified a billionaire.

” I’ve never asked for any title or tried to lie my way there EVER. period”.

The Lip Kit creator then gave it back to Forbes, saying she thought it was a ‘reputable site”.

She challenged Forbes to prove its accusation.

“Even creating tax returns that were likely forged” that’s your proof? so you just THOUGHT they were forged?”

And she then went on to say she had other things on her plate than to get worried by the Forbes article.

“I am blessed beyond my years. I have a beautiful daughter, and a successful business and I’m doing perfectly fine. I can name a list of 100 things more important right now than fixating on how much money I have”, she tweeted.

Kylie was named the world’s youngest billionaire both in 2019 and 2020 by Forbes.

COVID-19 knocks Messi off as world’s highest-paid athlete

Roger Federer is the world’s highest-paid athlete for 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic knocked football’s Lionel Messi off top spot, according to the annual Forbes list released on Friday.

The Swiss tennis great, owner of a men’s record 20 Grand Slam singles titles, earned 106.3 million dollars in the last 12 months, including 100 million dollars via endorsements.

This helped him to move up four places and become the first player from his sport to top the list.

Football players Cristiano Ronaldo (105 million dollars), Messi (104 million dollars) and Neymar (95.5 million dollars) and American basketball player LeBron James (88.2 million dollars) rounded out the top five.

“The coronavirus pandemic triggered salary cuts for football stars Messi and Ronaldo. It cleared the way for a tennis player to rank as the world’s highest paid athlete for the first time,” said Kurt Badenhausen, senior editor at Forbes.

“Roger Federer is the perfect pitchman for companies, resulting in an unparalleled endorsement portfolio of blue-chip brands worth 100 million dollars a year for the tennis great.”

Japan’s Naomi Osaka (37.4 million dollars), who was ranked 29th on the list, surpassed fellow tennis player Serena Williams (36 million dollars) as the world’s highest-earning female athlete.

Osaka and Williams were the only women on the list.

Basketball players led all sports with 35 players among the top 100.

American football occupied 31 spots, none higher than six-times Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (45 million dollars) who was ranked 25th.

Football was the next most represented sport with 14 players, followed by tennis (six), boxing and mixed marital arts (five), golf (four), motor racing (three), and baseball and cricket with one each.

Forbes officially recognises Kanye West as billionaire

According to Forbes, Kanye West’s brand, Yeezy, which he owns in its’ entirety and falls under the Adidas umbrella, helped push him over the $1 billion mark.

The publication said they dissected the Chicago rapper’s success with Yeezy, while also sharing how they tabulated Kanye’s net worth.

Nonetheless, a decent portion of Kanye’s net worth can be attributed to his royalty agreement with Adidas.

West receives a “royalty around 15% of Yeezy revenue from Adidas. Meanwhile, Kanye West’s team provided a statement of the rapper’s assets, which were listed as $17 million in cash, $35 million in stocks, $81 million in “buildings and improvements,” $21 million in land, as well as his G.O.O.D. label and publishing rights, which is said to be worth at least $90 million. West in an exclusive interview with GQ magazine, had alluded to his discomfort with the Left’s hate for billionaires.

He claims being shamed or not being allowed to be a billionaire is not freedom.

“I remember when I became a billionaire I was told not to say out loud that I was a billionaire. What? What is the point of being a billionaire if you can’t even say it out loud? We’re not completely free yet,” West said.
