    Veteran Nollywood actor, Francis Duru has taken to social media to mark the first anniversary of his son’s death with an emotional message.

    According to 56-year-old via his Instagram page on Thursday, he’s still yet to get over the death of his son. He also recounted the pain his family has endured since the loss.

    He wrote:
    “Sweet soul Anyi
    It’s one year today you passed unto glory
    One year you slipped out of our hands son…

    “Hmmm…it’s been painful..and still hurts
    Son…no one can fill the void you have left
    In our lives, hearts but in all…we give thanks
    Sweet soul you remained
    It hurts…it hurts…to realize you are no more

    “But His grace has been sufficient
    Son…we mourn you no more bc you live
    In our hearts, in our spirits, on our lips…
    Your fond memories…you were a good kid

    “You brought so much joy, laughter and light…
    Adieu…Rest on sweet soul…rest on champ…Loads of love always and forever.”

    Francis Duru lost his son Ifeanyi on August 7, 2024, at age 15. The actor did not reveal the cause of death but described the boy as a “lion” who “fought like a champ”.

    Popular Nollywood actor, Francis Duru has taken to social media to pen down an emotional note to his late son, Ifeanyi on his 16th birthday.

    TheNewGuru.com (TNG) reports that the veteran actor some couple of months ago announced the demise of his son, saying he will forever love him.

    Although, he did not disclose what led to the boy’s death, he, however, noted that his late son fought like a lion.

    The actor, in a new Instagram post shared a photo of the deceased, noting how death snatched him while he was still young.

    He went ahead to shared how the death of his son affected everyone in the house, as things are no longer the way it use to be.

    The actor revealed that it hasn’t been easy for them as no one can replace him.

    He wrote: “Nna. Today, you were going to be 16. But the cold hands of death snatched you from us. You looked forward to this day, was so excited. We all looked forward to it, but life happened to you and you retired so early.

    “Son, it has not been easy bc you left a very big hole in our hearts. Why you left and how you left, still bothers us. It’s not been easy, no one can ever or will ever replace you. It hurts but God knows why, your fond memories, they comfort us all.

    “We miss you, your warm smiles and words of affirmation, and your arms on my shoulder. The last mayonnaise is still I see your friends remaining. Since you left, the school bus doesn’t come again. Can’t remember when I last ate bread.

    “Such a big vacuum. I see your friends and the look in their eyes, still asking what happened. Mummy weeps each day while I do mine in the dark. Frances and Soso, all of us, Grandma has your picture always.

    “Thanks for parenting you. Nna we can’t cut your cake today. We still love you and still feel you are around. You were such a wonderful kid. All the same, happy posthumous birthday day my champ. Continuously rest in the bosom of the lord. Adieu son. We love you loads”.

    The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas has visited the family of veteran Nollywood actor, Francis Duru over the loss of their son.

    It would be recalled that veteran actor, Francis Duru on Thursday announced the death of his second son, Ifeanyi

    Although, he did not disclose what led to the boy’s death, he, however, noted that his late son fought like a lion.

    He wrote: “My champ!! my lion…you fought like a lion…if this is the way He wants it, so be it, I still judge you faithful…Ifeanyi my champ….I will miss you son….I will forever love you….Rest in peace son…rest….I give you thanks lord!.”

    Rollas in a post shared on his Instagram on Friday said the members of the Guild visited the actor to commiserate with them.

    Sharing photos from the visit, the AGN president prayed that God grants the family the foritude to bear their loss.

    He wrote: “Went to commiserate with my brother and member @francis.duru who lost his 15 year old son. It was a devastating experience. May the lord give his family the fortitude to bear this irreperable loss.”

    Although, he did not disclose what led to the boy’s death, he, however, noted that his late son fought like a lion.

    SAD! Francis Duru loses dad months after mum’s death

    Nollywood actor Francis Duru announced the death of his father, ten months after his mother’s death.

    The actor took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to share the last picture he took with his father, breaking the news of his loss.

    In an emotional tribute, Duru praised his father while recalling that his mother ‘just left’.

    His caption read, “My last pix with you..dad..memories of yesterday..0 defined my essence…built my being…took the tough and the rough to put me on the turf…of life..I salute you dad…as you took your last bow and transited to glory…you broke my heart this morning when you refused to wake..mum just left..you too ..hmm…so heavy…so painful…thank you..thank you…thank you dad for all..thank you..Will miss you…” (sic)

    TheNewsGuru recalls that in November last year, the actor broke the news of his mother’s death via Instagram three days before her burial.

    The burial ceremony, which was held at Duru’s hometown in Mbano, Imo State, was attended by his colleagues and other celebrities.
