Former Burnley’s manager, Sean Dyche, has been announced as the new Everton boss to lead the relegation fight after Frank Lampard’s sacking and Marcelo Bielsa rejecting role.

The 51-year-old returns to the dugout nine months after he was sacked by Burnley.

Ian Woan and Steve Stone will reportedly join Dyche as his assistants, having previously worked with him at Turf Moor.

Everton announces Sean Dyche as new boss after Lampard's sack

Struggling Everton axed Frank Lampard on Monday with the club 19th in the Premier League.

Former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa had been owner Farhad Moshiri’s first-choice for the Goodison hot seat.

He was in London yesterday for talks with the Toffees hierarchy, before reports claimed he had rejected the chance to become manager.

It was gathered that Dyche also held talks with Everton on Thursday.

Former Toffees boss, Sam Allardyce, was another considered, as was Davide Ancelotti, the son of ex-Goodison gaffer Carlo.

While former Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl was also on the shortlist.

But ex-Burnley manager Dyche is the man tasked with leading Everton’s fight against relegation.

He has been waiting for a top-flight offer after snubbing several approaches from Championship clubs.

Dyche will reunite with James Tarkowski, Michael Keane and Dwight McNeil at Everton, having worked with all three players at Burnley.

He takes over with the Toffees having won just three out of their 20 Prem games this season.

And Dyche will be thrown straight in at the deep end after penning a deal to take over.

His first game is a daunting meeting with league leaders Arsenal at Goodison Park on February 4th.

The Toffees then make the short trip across Stanley Park to face Liverpool at Anfield nine days later.

Dyche spent nine-and-a-half years with Burnley before being sacked by the Clarets last year.

He also spent a year as manager of Watford before heading to Turf Moor in 2012.

Everton sacks Frank Lampard as Manager

Everton has sacked manager Frank Lampard after a run of 11 defeats in 14 matches across all competitions.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Everton’s ownership made the decision to dispense with Lampard’s services on Monday.

The 44-year-old spent less than a year in charge at Goodison Park and won just 12 of his 44 matches at the helm after taking over at the end of January 2022.

Lampard’s last game in charge was Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham United, which kept them second-bottom of the table on 15 points after 20 games, two points below the safety zone.

Everton sacks Frank Lampard as Manager

Everton has played poorly this season with their last win being a 3-0 win against Crystal Palace in October.

Lampard is now the sixth manager to be sacked by Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri in almost seven years since becoming the majority shareholder.

Lampard was appointed by Everton in January 2022 after he managed Chelsea from 2019-21 and Derby County in the second tier in 2018-19.

Recall that Lampard was sacked as Chelsea manager in January 2021, having returned to the west London club where he holds a goalscoring record.

Former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who is currently in charge at Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, is among those being considered to replace Lampard. Sean Dyche, out of work since leaving Burnley at the end of last season, has also been tipped to take over at Goodison Park.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that before the Southampton match, Everton owner, Farhad Moshiri, had given his backing to Lampard, but after the West Ham loss, claimed to sack him was “not his decision”.

But defeat against West Ham, a fellow struggler this season, was one loss too many for Lampard.

EPL: Everton coach, Lampard expresses optimism over West Ham clash

Everton manager Frank Lampard has expressed optimism the toffees will do well against West Ham in their next  English Premier League (EPL) next weekend.

Recall that Southampton defeated Everton 2-1 on Saturday at the Goodison Park.

The Merseyside club lost a fourth successive home league game in a row as they let a first-half lead slip.

The defeat brought Lampard’s future into sharper focus after he had received the backing of club owner Farhad Moshiri earlier in the week.

The defeat came against the backdrop of pre-planned fan protests inside Goodison Park at the end of the game.

Supporters have been calling for the club’s board to be sacked, with Everton fighting relegation for the second successive season.

Amadou Onana gave the home side a first half lead but James Ward-Prowse equalised after the break.

He then curled in a free-kick to give Saints their first victory at Everton since 1997.

“It’s obviously difficult and disappointing, especially when you go 1-0 up,” Lampard said.

“It’s a tough game, there’s a lot of tension for both teams. We deserved to be (ahead) in the first half with the passion in our game.

“It wasn’t a tactical game, it was more of a fighting game. We showed spirit and then an early goal (for Southampton) in the second half changes the tone.

“We hit the bar but then, typically at the moment, we concede a free-kick and it goes in our net. Obviously, it’s disappointing. It was a big game for us and we lost.”

The Everton board was advised not to attend the game due to security fears, but Lampard said the off-field troubles had no impact on the result.

“It’s a difficult period. There is so much passion at this club for the right reasons, everyone wants the best for the club.

“We’ve come in a direction where we were in a relegation battle last year and again this year.”

Lampard admits next Saturday’s trip to West Ham, who are also in the bottom three and level on 15 points with the Toffees, is another huge game for the club.

“The only thing that is important is the reaction,” he said. “The effort of the players, the desire of the players (against Southampton) was big.

“But, in terms of the performance, when the game changes in the second half, we know that’s not enough and I’ll be the first to take responsibility for that.

EPL: Why we defeated Liverpool – Brentford manager, Thomas Frank

Brentford manager, Thomas Frank has revealed the winning tactics his boys employed to defeat Liverpool 3-1 in the Premier League tie on Monday night.

Frank said that Brentford defeated Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium because of his players’ attitude, effort, hard work and togetherness.

The 49-year-old Danish gaffer watched The Bees defeat Jurgen Klopp’s side at home, thanks to goals from Ibrahima Konate (own-goal), Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo.

Liverpool’s only goal was scored by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the encounter.

Liverpool French defender, Ibrahim Konate had a bad day in office after conceding an own goal and being responsible for the 3rd goal against Liverpool.

“What a night! I can’t praise the players enough, they are incredible.

“The attitude, effort, hard work and togetherness – everything they put together to beat a team like Liverpool,” Frank told BBC Sport.

  • Mason Mount proving me right at Chelsea – Lampard

Mason Mount proving me right at Chelsea – Lampard

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is delighted seeing Mason Mount prove himself under his successor Thomas Tuchel.

Mount has gone on to become a central cog in the Blues machine, and Lampard, speaking for the first time since being sacked as their manager in January this year, insists there was always something special about the midfielder.

“I’m delighted. I never understood the critics. He’s evolving all the time. His performances were absolutely top draw,” he said in an exclusive Q&A hosted by the London Football Awards in aid of the Willow Foundation, who enable seriously ill young adults to experience unforgettable moments.

“He’d never played in an English league, the Championship is a tough league, but when he stepped through the door, I could see something special in him… his quality, his work ethic. I really trusted him.

“At Chelsea, there were established players in those positions. The one thing I can be happy about is being part of that story for Mason from an early age. You’re seeing him mature quite quickly.

“For me firstly, it was attitude and mentality. There was something about him when he played, it was an awareness of what was around him. I was sure it would be a difficult ride for him in the Championship.

“He’s going to carry on developing and he’s going to be a fantastic player.

“A nice feeling for me when I left Chelsea, I made Mason captain. It wasn’t a gesture, I didn’t know I was leaving at that point.

“I wanted to show Mason that his authority and standing within the group had risen. When you have players who have that care, it doesn’t matter who the manager is. As you can see, I like him a lot.”

  • Abramovich never spoke to Lampard as Chelsea manager

Abramovich never spoke to Lampard as Chelsea manager

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich never spoke to Frank Lampard over his 18 months as manager, it has been revealed.

The Russian oligarch appointed club legend Lampard in the summer of 2019 but the axe fell last week after a run of poor results.

The Telegraph says Abramovich never personally spoke to Lampard during his year and a half managing the club.

Instead all communication came via his No2 Marina Granovskaia, who effectively runs the club for Abramovich.

The report also claims Lampard’s appointment was viewed by many at the West London club as a ‘convenient stopgap’ to keep the fans happy during their transfer ban and the sale of star player Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.

It also claims Lampard, 42, himself thought that was the case.

  • REVEALED: Why Frank Lampard was sacked by Chelsea

REVEALED: Why Frank Lampard was sacked by Chelsea

Frank Lampard’s demise at Chelsea was sparked by an increasingly fractured relationship with managing director Marina Granovskaia.

Lampard was axed on Monday afternoon following a woeful run of results which has seen Chelsea slip down to ninth in the Premier League table.

The Athletic says one of the reasons for Lampard’s dismissal was due to his relationship with influential director Granovskaia becoming fractured after several disagreements.

The real bone of contention was when the manager began to drop the club’s £72million record-signing Kepa towards the backend of last season after he had made a number of high-profile errors.

At the end of the last campaign, Lampard requested funds to sign a new keeper despite Chelsea chiefs reportedly telling him he should put his arm around Kepa and try to rebuild his confidence.

Kepa was unhappy with how Lampard dealt with the situation and is said to have felt that he did not provide sufficient support – and the Chelsea boss eventually got his way, replacing him as the club’s No 1 by signing Edouard Mendy from Rennes.

Matters deteriorated further when Lampard continued to push to sign Declan Rice from West Ham at the annoyance of his bosses. A number of key figures at the club had reservations about the England international while the same report claim the club were ‘wary’ of the potential embarrassment of buying back a player who they had released as a teenager in a deal worth in excess of £70million.

Lampard was determined to acquire Rice and also Burnley’s James Tarkowski and continually tried to persuade the club to broker a deal, but Granovskaia was not keen on either player and in the end neither joined.
