In-form Gareth Bale sends warning to Arsenal

Tottenham forward Gareth Bale has fired a warning at Arsenal ahead of the North London derby.

The Real Madrid loanee struck a brace in Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace to continue his own excellent form.

Bale has hit a purple patch during the last month with six goals and three assists in his last six games in all competitions to help Spurs put together a five-game winning streak.

It has ignited their top four hopes in the Premier League at a crucial time, with a short trip to rivals Arsenal up next in the division on Sunday.

“Going into next week’s game we have confidence behind us now but we know it’s going to be difficult,” Bale said.

“Obviously a midweek game (against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League) before that but we’ll recover and go again.”

Jose Mourinho refuses to criticise Bale

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho had nothing negative to say about Gareth Bale after his side’s defeat at Brighton in the Premier League.

Spurs came into the game on the back of a loss against Liverpool at home, and needed points to keep up in the top four race.

But they were dealt another blow, being dominated in the game and losing 1-0.

Bale started in place of the injured Harry Kane, but made no contribution to the game.

Asked why Bale struggled, Mourinho responded to reporters: “I am not going to individualise the performance.

“We tried in the first half to give the team similar dynamic as we have hen Harry is playing.

“We felt to connect with Son, the way we work all the time in the sense of Harry, we tried to do that with Gareth coming in side with his left foot vision.

“We tried to give that with Bergwijn too but the team was not good in the first half. In the second half we improved very much.”

Finally, Gareth Bale secures Real Madrid exit

Gareth Bale is back in familiar surroundings at Tottenham, with the Welshman seeing a loan return to north London bring a nightmare spell at Real Madrid to a close.

The 31-year-old left Spurs in the summer of 2013 as the most expensive player on the planet.

A dream start was made to life at Santiago Bernabeu, with a useful habit picked up of scoring in major finals.

Bale’s blistering pace and keen eye for goal endeared him to the Madridistas, with domestic and continental successes savoured in Spain.

He has been one of most successful British imports of all time, with two La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns and three Club World Cups collected with Real.

The Wales international has also passed a century of goals for the Blancos, hitting 105 in total, but found favour in short supply under Zinedine Zidane.

Just 20 appearances were taken in during the 2019-20 campaign, as transfer speculation raged and questions were asked of his commitment to Real – amid accusations of playing too much golf.

Bale is, however, now back in the Premier League and ready to rekindle a lost spark – with Spurs handing him their No.9 shirt.

Bale arrives Tottenham ahead of completing transfer

Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has arrived at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground as he nears a return to the club.

Wales international Bale, 31, is expected to rejoin Spurs on loan.

He flew into Luton Airport on Friday before travelling to the training ground in Enfield, North London.

Bale originally joined Spurs from Southampton in 2007 before moving to the Spanish giants for a then world record £85m in 2013.

He has gone on to score more than 100 goals for Real and won four Champions Leagues.

“Until I’m told Bale is a Tottenham player, I still think and feel and respect the fact he’s a Real Madrid player,” said Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

It is also anticipated Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon will complete his transfer to Tottenham on Friday. The 23-year-old Spain international played last season on loan at Sevilla, winning the Europa League.

Madrid pals warn Mourinho against Bale move, but…

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has been warned off signing Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale.

Mourinho has been told by his former Real colleagues that Bale will struggle at Tottenham, reports ESPN.

The report claims that Mourinho, who was in charge of Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, has been told in talks that the 31-year-old will find it hard to meet the demands of the English top flight.

However the Portuguese boss has given the green light for Bale’s return despite the concerns raised.

Bale has fallen out of favour under Real manager Zinedine Zidane and injury setbacks have impacted his fitness levels in recent seasons.

The Daily Mail says Real Madrid will pay more than half of Bale’s £500,000-per-week wages to facilitate the deal to Tottenham.

Tottenhan in talks with Madrid to have Bale back

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Real Madrid to have winger Gareth Bale back, his agent said on Tuesday, as the Wales international looks to end his troubled spell at the Spanish club.

Bale made over 200 appearances for English Premier League (EPL) clubside Spurs between 2007 and 2013.

He scored 56 goals with 58 assists, before his then world record move to Real Madrid for 100 million euros (118.46 million dollars).

The 31-year-old has scored over 100 goals for Real Madrid and won numerous trophies, including four UEFA Champions League titles.

But he was given limited playing time under Zinedine Zidane towards the end of last season’s La Liga triumph.

“Gareth still loves Spurs,” his agent Jonathan Barnett said on Tuesday. “We are talking (Spurs, Real Madrid and Bale’s camp). It’s where he wants to be.”

Bale endured his worst season at the Spanish club in 2019/2020 with only three goals in all competitions.

He admitted earlier this month that he would consider a return to the Premier League if Real Madrid allow him to end his stint in Spain.

The Welshman has a contract until 2022 and was set to make a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League last year before the transfer was scuttled.

That was when Real Madrid made a last-minute decision to insist on a transfer fee rather than terminate his contract.

Bale has divided opinion among the club’s fanbase, with some supporters frustrated by a perceived lack of commitment from the Welshman.

He did not feature in their final seven league matches as they pipped FC Barcelona to the Liga title while he watched on from the bench.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho had said before their season-opening 1-0 defeat by Everton on Sunday that he wanted the club to sign a striker before the transfer window closes on Oct. 5.

Spurs, who finished sixth last season, signed midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and right-back Matt Doherty while goalkeeper Joe Hart was recruited as a free agent in the close season.

  • Madrid face €60M bill to pay off Gareth Bale

Madrid face €60M bill to pay off Gareth Bale

Real Madrid face paying out Gareth Bale’s contract in full if they want to offload the Welshman.

AS says Real coach Zinedine Zidane is keen to see Bale moved on this summer. The Frenchman dropped Bale from his squad for the final game of the season against Leganes.

However, with two years to run on his contract, Bale has no intentions of being forced out.

Earning €14.5m-a-year, it will mean Real paying out a staggering €60m net to clear Bale off their books in the coming weeks.

“Bale is delighted with the idea of continuing two more years in Madrid,” said Jonathan Barnett, his agent, to AS. “He is happy in Spain. He and his family. It is a shame that Madrid is wasting the possibility of using him because he is a professional and continues to train well.”

  • Dybala too good for Bale in video game clash

Dybala too good for Bale in video game clash

Paulo Dybala left Gareth Bale out of his Real Madrid starting line-up but had no trouble beating the Welshman’s Manchester City side in a FIFA 20 video game as part of a Combat Corona fundraiser for UNICEF at the weekend.

Juventus striker, Dybala only recently recovered from the coronavirus himself but was in good spirits and proved too good for the Real winger at the console on Sunday.

“I think it’s a quick retirement back out of FIFA for me to be honest … all it takes is one moment and my defence wasn’t good enough,” Bale, who is the co-owner of esports organisation Ellevens Esports, said.

With the coronavirus pandemic bringing soccer across the globe to a standstill, the world of esports has helped keep players and fans entertained.

“It’s just about people staying home and finding things to do… obviously everybody is going to find it difficult at different points (to self isolate) but if we can stay in and keep everyone safe, it’ll save lives.

“Everyone try your best to stay at home and keep yourself entertained,” Bale added.

Other top players such as Luke Shaw, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jordan Pickford and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were also part of the event, which was broadcast live on Twitch and raised around 17,000 pounds ($20,791) through online donations.

Dybala, who won the game with a quick-fire brace from the Karim Benzema avatar and another goal from the virtual Eden Hazard, said the rematch would be in video game version of another sport close to Bale’s heart.

“It will be on the golf course,” said the Argentine, who admitted he had never played the sport in the real world.

  • UCL: Modric, Bale to miss Madrid’s trip to Turkey

UCL: Modric, Bale to miss Madrid’s trip to Turkey

Real Madrid have left Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez out of their squad for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash away to Turkish side Galatasaray.

It is a match manager Zinedine Zidane has since described as a “must-win game”.

None of them — Modric, Bale and Vazquez — played in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Real Mallorca, Real Madrid’s first La Liga loss of the season.

Modric and Bale both picked up knocks on international duty while Vazquez has been out since the start of the month.

Toni Kroos, Eden Hazard and Dani Carvajal, all of whom also missed the Real Mallorca defeat, return to the squad.

Kroos has been carrying an injury while Hazard missed the Real Mallorca trip because of the birth of his fourth child, and Carvajal was rested.

Real Madrid have managed only one point from their first two Group A games in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

“We know what we’re playing for,” Zidane said of Tuesday’s trip. “We need to play to win because there’s no other option there. We need to focus on winning on Tuesday.”

  • Gareth Bale Madrid’s saviour gets red at Villarreal

Football can be cruel at times: Gareth Bale twice came to Real Madrid’s rescue to salvage a 2-2 draw at Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday. The Wales forward however ended the night in despair as he was sent off in added time for receiving two yellow cards.

Real were severely weakened by six injuries to attacking players and fell behind in the 11th minute.

This was after captain Sergio Ramos lost the ball in his own half and Villarreal broke quickly, with Gerard Moreno scoring on the rebound.

Bale equalised in stoppage time of the first half by tapping in a cross from Dani Carvajal from close range.

But Villarreal restored their lead in the 74th minute through Moi Gomez, after Karim Benzema had a goal ruled out for offside.

Bale has a long and successful record playing at Villarreal.

He scored there on his Real debut in 2013 after completing his 100 million-euro move from Tottenham Hotspur and netted in a 3-2 win in 2017 and a 2-2 draw in 2018.

He again pulled Madrid out of trouble with a powerful low strike in the 88th minute but somehow contrived to get himself sent off by earning two yellow cards for fouls in stoppage time.

Real have picked up five points from their opening three games, one more than champions Barcelona, but Zinedine Zidane’s side are four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, who have won all three matches.

Zidane criticised his side for their lacklustre start but was pleased with how they reacted to going behind.

“We began the game without any intensity, we were barely in the game for the first 15 minutes, it’s always important to make a strong start,” he told a news conference.

“But we reacted well and we deserved to score more goals.

“We were up against a good opponent and we have to improve in defence because we know what we are capable of in attack.

“But I’m focusing on the positive things we did today, above all our reaction, because it was very important that we didn’t lose today.”
