EPL: Gary Neville predicts teams that will finish top four

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has slightly adjusted his Premier League predictions for the 2024/2025 season.

Initially, before the first round of fixtures, Neville had predicted Arsenal would finally claim the title after two decades, with Manchester City finishing as runners-up.

He had also backed Manchester United to secure third place and Tottenham Hotspur to finish fourth.

However, on Monday Night Football, Neville revised his predictions.

He now believes Chelsea will take fourth place, pushing Liverpool down to fifth.

Explaining his change of heart on Sky Sports after Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw at Leicester City, Neville said, “I wasn’t sure about Tottenham. I hope Tottenham finish fourth; I think they play good football. But what I would say is when the subs came on tonight, I thought that could be a problem for them in terms of strength in depth. I think Chelsea have the better squad. Chelsea could easily be an absolute mess, but they could be [strong contenders].”

Regarding his decision to rank Liverpool fifth, Neville added, “The impact of Jurgen Klopp leaving will take its toll, just based on the evidence of history.”

EPL: Gary Neville tips Arsenal to win title despite defeat to Aston Villa

Gary Neville a former Manchester United captain, has posited  that Arsenal are not out of the Premier League race despite their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins scored for Unai Emery’s men as they stunned Arsenal at the Emirate.

The result left the Gunners in second place with 71 points, two less than leaders Manchester City.

It led to pundits claiming City are now firm favourites to win it for a fourth consecutive season, after Liverpool also lost 1-0 at Anfield.

But Neville said on Sky Sports: “You have to trust them you think [to respond to the Aston Villa defeat].

“They need to call upon last season’s experience when they dropped points people didn’t think they would.

“They need to get back on the bike because they’re not out of the title race. It’s going to be tough because of what Man City are but it’s about how Arsenal recover.”

EPL: VAR alternative proposed for Premier League

Gary Neville, former Manchester United captain who’s presently a football pundit,  has called on the Premier League to introduce the semi-automated offside.

Recall that a controversial incident happened in Tottenham Hotspurs’ 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday evening at the Tottenham Stadium.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL)  apologized to Liverpool, admitting that Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham Hotspur should have stood.

Diaz broke in behind the Spurs defence before firing past Guglielmo Vicario into the bottom corner.

However, the linesman raised his flag indicating an offside but VAR intervened, the TV cameras didn’t show the offside lines, with the Colombian seemingly onside.

The referee ruled out the goal with Spurs scoring a few minutes later in the encounter.

Neville tweeted: “Goal-line Technology and Offside have been the two pillars of accuracy with VAR.

“I’ve lost some confidence in the last month on offsides and this today erodes it further. Bring in the automated system straight away.”

When a semi-automated system is used, there is no need to draw or activate lines.

Instead, a virtual offside line is generated automatically in addition to accurately identifying skeleton points — including head, toes, upper arm and knees — on multiple players simultaneously.

Lampard doesn’t like his players at Chelsea – Gary Neville

Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville has claimed that Chelsea caretaker manager Frank Lampard doesn’t like his players.

Chelsea failed to diminish Manchester City’s title celebrations last weekend at the Etihad Stadium as they were beaten 1-0 in Sunday’s Premier League encounter.

The result against Man City was Chelsea’s 15th defeat of a scorching season.

Lampard’s side currently sits in 12th position on the Premier League table with 45 points behind Man City and 12 points above the relegation zone.

“Every time I look at Frank Lampard he’s got a look of a manager who doesn’t like his players,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“Chelsea need the end of the season badly.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea finished third position last season and reached two domestic cup finals under former manager Thomas Tuchel.

EPL: Gary Neville slams Manchester United owners after 1-0 loss to West Ham

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has hit out on the owners  of the club after their latest defeat to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester United failed to consolidate on their position on the log and are  now at the risk of losing out on playing champions League football come next season as Liverpool have been knocking on the door.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 away to West Ham on Sunday evening in a thrilling English Premier League encounter.

The former England international had a go at the Glazer family, describing them as the real disgrace.

Erik ten Hag’s men were given a run for their money by the West Ham team, who had two goals ruled out and were denied a penalty for handball in the first half.

Neville did not hold back on Twitter after watching the game, wondering why the current owners of the club are delaying handing Old Trafford to new owners.

He wrote. “United are so poor in this game.

“Erik ten Hag seeing more of the players in these situations is a positive, allows him to sort out who he wants on the bus.

“The real disgrace is the Glazers. Are they waiting for the last game at OT to pass?

“It would be typical of them. Weak and shirking accountability and responsibility to the end! Classless to the end…”

EPL: Gary Neville endorses Mauricio Pochettino for Chelsea

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville has explained that Mauricio Pochettino should be hired by Chelsea to replace sacked Graham Potter.

Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly fired Graham Potter on Sunday, one day after losing 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, former Bayern Munich coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has also been tipped to replace Potter but he has ruled out joining Chelsea this season.

But Neville feels Pochettino, who has previously coached Tottenham in England, would be the best fit.

“If they appoint Zidane, Enrique or Diego Simeone, they’re going to want to have another £300m as they won’t like some of the players they’ve previously signed.

“They’ve got to appoint a manager who is going to inherit and like the squad that they’ve got. – a lot of them are young – and I think that man is Mauricio Pochettino,” Neville told Sky Sports.

EPL: Neville knocks Bruno Fernandez for Man Utd’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool

Former Manchester United player, Gary Neville has knocked one of the club’s midfielders, Bruno Fernandez accusing the Portuguese of being ‘disgraceful’ and ’embarassing’ following the 7-0 thumping in the hands of Liverpool on Sunday night.

Manchester United suffered their biggest ever Premier League defeat, with goals from Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Roberto Firmino.

Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Antony were all guilty of losing their composure during the game.

But Fernandes appeared to be the worst of all as the Portugal international spent most of the second half making petulant challenges, arguing with officials and losing possession.

“Bruno Fernandes stood in the centre circle with his arms raised asking: ‘Why is it me not coming off?” said Neville on Sky Sports.

“Honestly, I have to say some of his behaviour in the second half has been a disgrace.”

He said Fernandes was ’embarassing’, adding that “second half has been an absolute disgrace, a shambles.”

EPL: Gary Neville tips Liverpool to make top four

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has tipped Liverpool to make top four following the Reds 2-0 win over neighbours Everton on Monday night.

Neville said Liverpool will still have a major say in the fight to finish in the Premier League top four.

Neville made this remark after watching Liverpool’s performance against the Toffees yesterday night.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo saw Liverpool claim their first win of 2023.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will now travel to Newcastle United this weekend for their next fixture.

A win at St James’ Park would reduce the gap between Liverpool and the last Champions League qualifying spot to six points.

And with some of their important players close to returning from injury, Neville feels you cannot write off the Anfield club with so many games remaining.

“You put Van Dijk in that team, Jota on the bench along with Diaz potentially coming back, Firmino as well then it’s a completely different story.

“All of a sudden when you look at that league table it doesn’t look like they’re out of that reckoning for the top four.

“The reality is they will come again this season and will go on a run if they can the players into the team,” Neville said.

Liverpool still have 17 games to secure a top 4 finish this season.

The Reds have practically struggled this current season and presently occupy the 9th position on the English Premier League Log.

EPL: Neville slams Arteta for always blaming match officials

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has hit out on Arsenal’s boss, Mikel Arteta for always accusing match officials are against his team during games.

Neville doesn’t agree with Arteta over claims that match officials didn’t award penalties to Arsenal in the game against Newcastle.

TheNewsGuru reports that Arteta accused match officials of denying Arsenal two penalties in the match versus Newcastle on Tuesday night.

Recall that Arsenal failed to extend their lead on the table after their closest rival Manchester City drew its last game with Everton.

The Gunners played out a 0-0 stalemate with the Magpies, dropping points in their title chase.

Arsenal were appealing for a penalty in the dying minutes for a handball in the dying minutes and Newcastle defender Dan Burn appeared to haul back Gabriel from a free-kick.

Arteta told reporters after the game that there were two penalty incidents Arsenal should have been awarded.

But Neville disagreed with Arteta, saying that it would in fact have been ‘scandalous’ had the late handball resulted in a penalty.

“I thought it would be scandalous if it was given,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“If Mikel Arteta had lost a game of football giving away a penalty like this, he would be absolutely fuming.

“That is not a penalty. Never in a million years is that a penalty. Arteta would not want that given against his team, he would be fuming.

“The handball is never a penalty. They can feel aggrieved over the first one.”

  • Manchester United legend, Gary Neville slams Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville slams Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has fired shots at Cristiano Ronaldo and asked the Portugal captain to stop sulking.

Neville slammed the 37-year-old for what he described as ‘petulant’ behaviour, warning the Saudi-bound footballer that his career is gradually coming to a scruffy end.

This is coming after Ronaldo was dropped to the bench in Portugal’s 6-1 win over Switzerland in the round of 16 at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ronaldo only came on about 17 minutes to the end of Portugal’s World Cup round of 16 clash on Tuesday.

It was the first first time since Euro 2008 that the former Juventus and Real Madrid man has not started in a major international tournament.

Although manager, Fernando Santos said it was only a strategic approach to the game, the decision may not be unconnected with the 37-year-old’s fallout with the coach.

Ronaldo had fallen out with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag earlier this season. He also had issues at Juventus.

On Tuesday, Neville provided a brutal assessment of his former Manchester United teammate on ITV. Neville said that when Ronaldo had issues with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United people suggested that the Dutch boss was trying to make a move on the superstar and was trying establish his authority.

“This is a manager [Santos] who’s got an unbelievable relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo for eight years,” he said on ITV.

The former Manchester United captain accused Ronaldo’s fans of failing to tell him the truth, insisting that the 37-year-old needs to listen to the truth, “that it’s becoming a little bit of a scruffy end” to his career.

“The petulance, the stomping around, the sulking it’s got to stop because it doesn’t reflect well on him at all.”

The former England international warned that the Portuguese has set for himself a long term legacy which he has protected as “one of the great all time players.

“The Juventus manager wrong? The Manchester United manager wrong? And now is the Portugal manager wrong? There’s three of them that now have done the same thing with him,” Neville said.
