Why I regret marrying a pastor – Popular actress opens up

Famous Ghanaian actress Bernice Asare has expressed deep regret over her decision to marry a pastor after opening up about the difficulties she endured in the marriage.

The actress, who reportedly lost a child, in a recent interview with Zionfelix, explained how she was emotionally depraved and neglected during her marriage to a pastor.

According to the actress, who described the decision to settle down with a pastor as one of the biggest mistakes of her life, her husband’s deep commitment to his religious duties, such as prioritizing ministering to others, including praying for prostitutes over spending time with her, made her feel isolated and deprived of emotional support.

Bernice, while reflecting on the early stages of their relationship, described how her husband had been there for her emotionally as she was recovering from a heartbreak at the time.

She noted how his demeanour and use of Bible verses captivated her, drawing her close to him.

However, after they tied the knot, Bernice said she struggled with feelings of loneliness, as her husband was frequently occupied with his pastoral duties.

“Marrying a pastor was the biggest mistake of my life,” she admitted, shedding light on the emotional toll of being married to someone whose primary focus was on his ministry.

  • Juliet Ibrahim speaks about her rape experience

Juliet Ibrahim speaks about her rape experience

Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim, has spoken about her past rape experience, saying it has no impact on her finding love again.

In her words: “My past does not affect my future. Yes, the past can hurt but it is said that we are to leave the past behind and learn from it. Many people run from the past or live in the past but I have always believed in the positivity in life and each unique circumstance.

“Yes, one can have a healthy relationship after sexual assault. The experience I spoke about in that part of the interview (with Chide Jideonwo) is not recent. It happened over a decade ago. Every rape victim heals differently, and every victim speaks up when they are ready.”

    Juliet

She pointed out that every rape victim opens up to loving again when they are mentally and physically ready.

“I thank God that I have been able to love again after my past experiences. I am currently single but I do love hard and I am open to (falling in) love with a great man. There is so much love inside of me as I am a hopeless romantic,” the Ghanaian actress asserted.

On the measures she took to heal from the experience, Juliet said, “Nearly one in five women would have experienced ‘complete’ or attempted rape during their lifetime. One in three female rape victims experienced it for the first time between 11-17 years old.

“One in eight female rape victims reported that it occurred before the age of 10. An estimated 91 percent of victims of rape and sexual assault are female, while nine percent are male. Nearly 99 percent of perpetrators are male.”

The Ghanaian actress, who also is a film producer and singer of Lebanese, explained that recently enrolled in Berkeley College in New York City, United States of America, to obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Communications.

“I have been juggling online study with acting and filmmaking. It has been a rollercoaster— hopping from one set to another, traveling between cities and countries, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” she added.

  • Akuapem Poloo, Ghanaian actress imprisoned over nude photo granted bail

Akuapem Poloo, Ghanaian actress imprisoned over nude photo granted bail

Controversial Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo who was jailed for sharing a nude photo with her son on social media, has been granted bail, a week after the court sentence.

TheNewsGuru recalls that the Circuit Court sitting in Accra sentenced the movie star to three months in prison after she pleaded guilty to the charges against her.

But according to BBC Pidgin, a high court in Ghana granted the actress bail on Wednesday.

The development followed an appeal filed by Andy Vortia, her counsel, that the court should release the actress pending the conclusion of a petition challenging her jail term.

Vortia had instituted an appeal last Monday, faulting the court judgement.

In the appeal, the lawyer had argued that the jail term was harsh, given that she was a first-time offender and had already pleaded guilty to the crime of publishing the nude photos.

The lawyer had also argued that the court should have given her a fine for the said misdemeanor and not a custodial sentence.

He had also filed the bail application to secure the release of her client until when the appeal is considered by the court.

Speaking after the court’s ruling on Wednesday, Vortia said the bail application was considered on the basis that she was a first-time offender, her guilty plea, and welfare of her seven-year-old son.

The lawyer revealed that she was granted bail in the sum of Ghc80,000 (N5,372,976) alongside two sureties.

He explained that part of the bail condition is that the actress must report to the police twice a week while also submitting her passport to the court registrar.

Vortia said the judge also ruled that the movie star must inform the court as well as the police of any travel she intends to embark on.
