How Jim Iyke tried to kill – Gideon Okeke

Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has reopened his long-standing conflict with fellow actor Jim Iyke.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the actor claimed that Iyke once attempted to shoot him during a film production.

He made the allegation in an emotional video shared on Instagram, where he also apologised for his recent public outbursts.

Gideon explained that the incident allegedly happened on January 18, 2024, during a heated moment on set.

According to him, Jim Iyke reached for a gun with the intention to harm him.

He said if the action had succeeded, the result could have been fatal.

Although he did not mention the names of those present, he expressed disappointment that none of them have spoken up about what happened.

While addressing the matter, he also apologised to his fans, colleagues, and supporters, saying his recent behaviour was not consistent with the person they knew.

He admitted his actions were wrong but insisted that his fears and pain from the past event are real and unresolved.

He said: “I want to apologise to anybody who cares remotely about me or my work… to my friends, fans, lovers of Gideon, if I still have any left.

“Without being adamant, I respectfully maintain that an obituary wouldn’t have been fair on me either if Jim Iyke had succeeded in using that gun he wanted to use on the 18th of January.

“Nobody would have been there to defend my cause, because the people who were present till today have feigned ignorance. I’m not calling their names… but I felt, wow, this is the life.

“I really am sorry… but I will cease and desist from now. I am sorry. I mean it. Pardon me. Forgive me. Point is made.”

Gideon, who came to the public eye in 2006 when he appeared as a contestant on the first edition of Big Brother Nigeria, confirmed the end of their four years marriage in an Instagram post.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that in 2008, Gideon joined the cast of the M-NET TV series Tinsel on which he is a regular to date.

Gideon wrote while warning against pity party from fans

“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you that I’m separated from My marriage right? No you wouldn’t…so grab a seat. It is in the interest of clarity and a clear conscience that this becomes imperative.

But yea…Breakfast reach Me too. Las Las. It’s been a hard hot pill I’ve had to swallow, and boy…it sure humbles one. This PSA wouldn’t be so important (to Me), but for the trap that I find FAME to be sometimes. Gagged.

But as I look to the future…) pray for My BOYS. Such Lovely Boys. Pls put us All In your prayers… no pity party. They need Mum and Dad sane, sound and strong for the fulfillment of their best interests and we are working towards it. Hard! I thank GOD.

And I Thank You for rooting for Us. One Life…many stories. Pls don’t call , don’t text, as we work our way to a final dissolution. These processes take a toll on one as you may know. God bless.”

Recall that Gideon held a lowkey traditional marriage with Chidera sometime 2018.

The actor who shared photos of his traditional marriage on his Instagram page wrote in Igbo, “Anyi ebulu go mmanya bata Umubele Awka. Otokwaa gi I chiaaa.”

The traditional marriage of Gideon and Chidera held few months after he revealed that she is his girlfriend on her birthday.

In his post, he said whoever came up with the phrase “the beautiful ones are not yet born” lied because the love of his life is here.

He wrote; “A writer once said ‘the beautiful ones are not yet born’. Damn… somebody Lied.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of your day(s) honey. Its hard to keep a straight face when you look like ure just coming straight out of my prayers… (pinches self)‍♂️ But girl, u damn sure make it easy to love. We all have it in Us. We just need The
    I love U. Happy birthday “baby-love” .

In 2016, Gideon also wrote a memo to his wife.

He wrote; “Dear Wifey… If we ever have a robust argument and I leave home briefly for some air….Walahi I swear, I’m not with another woman.

“I’m on a film set. Where all the worlds troubles don’t matter shit!

“I promise U wen I’m back…we’ll kiss and makeup real good.”

The actor hails from Abagana, Anambra State.

Gideon Okeke condemns IPOB’s sit-at-home order

Popular actor, Gideon Okeke has condemned the sit-at-home directive by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the south-east.

IPOB had on July 30 declared a sit-at-home in the south-east every Monday until Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, is released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The proscribed group noted that the the lockdown tagged ‘Ghost Monday’ will also affect schools and marketplaces.

The separatist group also recently threatened that it would lockdown the region for one month if the federal government fails to bring its leader to court on October 21

The order has continued to provoke heated reactions, with many Nigerians sharing their different views on various social media platforms.

In his reaction on Monday, Okeke said those agitating for Biafra should have adopted a “smart” approach to champion their cause.

“It’s a different country everywhere in Nigerian, I am in the east, I’m in Enugu and there is really a sit-at-home going on, to what end sometimes we ask?” he said in a video on his Instagram page.

“What is this agitation that we cant work out smartly? You know we don’t need to carry guns and shouting… but this whole agitation we can do it smartly and intelligently. With sit-at-home, the poor man is suffering even the more.”

    ”Out of Ignorance comes education.
Out of Darkness came the Light.

    Hear this :

I’ve really begun to feel frustrated in this CRAFT that I love so much. Remember that during the times of COVID lockdown, ONLY folks working in “essential services” were allowed to come out. Doctors, Nurses, Farmers etc etc.

Let me remind you that while you were holed-up in your home for upwards of 4 months, watching Television, The ACTOR participated actively, in keeping your sanity in check. That’s An Essential Service if you ask Me.

But for All that the ACTOR does (for society) all that accrues to him at the end of the day, is the upfront payment which he accepted. Which most of the time, comes at a Piecemeal drop, covering for a duration of A Lifetime….For Life!

    • WHAT THE HECK IS THE UNION / GUILD REPRESENTING ?
    • WHAT THE HECK ARE THE PEOPLE IN POSITIONS OF POWER WITHIN THE INDUSTRY, DOING ABOUT IT?

-DO THEY CONSIDER GOING TO THE OSCARS, BEING ON NETFLIX, MORE IMPORTANT THAT THE WELFARE AND LIVELIHOODS OF THE PERFORMERS WHO ARE PERPETUALLY KEPT IMPOVERISHED?

Most professionals are entitled to a Pension, Gratuity etc.

BUT WHY IS THE ACTOR PERPETUALLY DENIED ROYALTIES AND RESIDUALS FOR HIS LIFE’S WORK??

Is it because the contract said so?
Is there really Always A Contract?
What does THE LAW have to say?

It’s become clear a lot of people are here for FAME! FOR PICTURES. For SLAY. They didn’t come here to change the world. Let alone, ASK QUESTIONS!

To have LIVED is to ensure that through your life’s work, someone else lives/breathes easier, better.

I want to tag names but I want you to PARTICIPATE. TAG THEM!

Wahala for Any ACTOR wey do “Eyes-Right” for this Post O. May the industry continues to PERPETUALLY ROB ROB YOU OF YOUR DUES!!!

Na ME Talk. TALK YOUR OWN!”

  • People hail my vulgarity- Chinwetalu Agu replies Gideon Okeke

Earlier this week, Gideon Okeke condemned Chinwetalu Agu for his use of vulgar words in movies. Some actors in Nollywood took sides, while Chioma criticized Gideon for disrespecting Chinwetalu, Tony One Week supported Gideon for saying the obvious.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Chinwetalu Agu replies Gideon Okeke saying he doesn’t know him and that people don’t condemn him in movies, rather they hail him

According to him:“Let him leave the censors board to do their job, or does he work with them? Anybody can say anything or come to whatever conclusion they please. The viewers would judge whether I use vulgar words in movies or not. People who watch movies are the ultimate judges. I do not even know who Gideon Okeke is; I do not think I have ever heard his name. If people like AMAA are talking to me about this, I would know how to react appropriately. But this is an individual I do not even know. He has his own style, and I have mine which has won me awards all over the continent and even beyond.”

He further declares that this is the first time he will be accused of being vulgar in movies

“This is the first time anyone will be accusing me of vulgarity. Others have been hailing me. What we do is satire; we are re-enacting what happens in the society. People I have encountered and those who have called me have been full of praise for me. It will also interest you to know that I am the highest award-winning actor in Africa. I have 47 awards to my name; and the second person behind me has not even got up to 10 awards. Two years ago, I took two cows to church to celebrate and thank God for giving me the highest number of awards in Africa. Secondly, I have done 727 productions. It is a rare record in Africa. I am also the current holder of the Best Veteran Actor award which was given to me in Ohio, United States of America. People like Olu Jacobs and other time-tested Nollywood practitioners were nominated for that same award but I was chosen. My record is the best in all ramifications. I have spent about 35 years in the movie industry, and I am a big pillar of Nollywood.”

The talented actor reveals his best moments and achievements as an actor

”Even former President Goodluck Jonathan confessed about three years ago that whenever he travels out of the country, foreign leaders ask after people like me, Jim Iyke, and Genevieve Nnaji. Because of that, he put N3bn into Nollywood’s account, and asked the former Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to manage the funds for Nollywood. This fund is still open to Nollywood practitioners. It goes without saying that I am very big in Nollywood. I am a father, legend, and icon”

  • War in Nollywood! Tony One Week slams Chioma Akpotha

Says:”I am shocked at Chioma’s statements”

Popular Nigerian entertainer, Tony One Week has condemned actress Chioma Akpotha for criticizing Gideon Okeke after he openly slammed Chinwetalu Agu’s vulgarity in movies.Recall that Gideon had openly lashed out at the veteran and urged the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to do something about it. Chioma Akpotha reacted to Gideon’s rant condemning him for disrespecting the veteran actor.

However , Tony One Week who has weighed in on the issue wrote:” Like Chief Zebrudaya will say “Fafafaaaaa…. Fowl”. I read that Gideon condemned Chiwetalu Agu’s vulgarity in movies and actress Chioma rebuked Gideon. And I ask: For what? The young man simply stated the very obvious. Famous actor Chiwetalu Agu’s lines can be very irritating. Truth be told. The guy can talk nonsense. And overtime, his nonsense has moved from being funny to annoyingly irresponsible. It’s high time someone told him that he is no longer funny. How can u say a vulgar word or sentence and repeat it from the beginning to the end of the movie every time u appear?”

“A movie ideally should have a positive message even as it entertains. What is educative about vulgar statements? Is the intention to corrupt or destroy? I support Gideon 100%. Agu should be more responsible abeg. Does he have children? D guy is is a good actor but in recent times too unnecessarily vulgar bro. Can I forget “Igwe ejee nga”?.

“That’s vintage Ogwu in Taboo speaking clean but very apt and entertaining. What he says these days are almost demonic. The worst is the repetition. Must every uselessly vulgar line be repeated like three four times in a scene and then in all the scenes he appears in a movie. Haba. I blame producers for d repetition. Most of our movies these days are scriptless. No script. No story. That’s why every actor says what he likes in d name of comedy. And to think they believe they are making us happy when they actually make us angry most times? Honestly, anyone who supports Chiwetalu Agu’s persistent use of vulgar language has little or no moral foundation. Who is talking about censorship here? Are movies censored in Nigeria? How do they regulate who buys the DVDs meant for adults when children sell them?”

“Common… everybody watches everything jare. ‘Nwoke na akoghelizi akogheli’ (meaning Chiwetalu Agu talks anyhow) and it ain’t funny any more than it’s destructive. Our movie producers must upgrade to using proper solid stories to sell movies and not vulgar repetitive sentences. Up Gideon. Down Chioma. I respect Chioma’s person and I am shocked that a mother like her will condemn Gideon for condemning the unguarded immorality being unleashed on society by Chiwetalu Agu. #Moralityiskey”

Everyone is anticipating the responses of Chioma Akpotha and Chinwetalu Agu.
