    Ryan Giggs pleads not guilty to assault on ex-girlfriend

    Former Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs has denied the charge he was violent and engaged in behaviour towards his ex-girlfriend including isolation, belittling, humiliation, harassment, degradation and abuse.

    A court heard on Wednesday.

    Giggs, 47, also entered a not guilty plea of actual bodily harm to PR executive Kate Greville, 36, at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester on November 1 2020.

    He has also been charged with the common assault of Emma Greville, understood to be Ms Greville’s younger sister, during the same alleged incident.

    The charge of controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship alleges the abuse lasted almost three years, between December 2017 and November 2020.

    Giggs is nominally Wales manager but has stood down for the last games and won’t coach at Euro 2020 in summer due to the charges.

    The former player appeared in the dock at Manchester Magistrates’ Court for his first court appearance as the three charges against him were read out and he entered his not guilty pleas.

    Giggs, who spoke only to confirm his name, address and enter his not guilty pleas, has been bailed to appear at Manchester Crown Court on May 26.

    His conditions of bail are that he must not contact Kate or Emma Greville or go to any address where they are.

    The hearing, lasting 13 minutes, dealt with procedural matters as the case was sent to the crown court for a further hearing.

    Army arrests officer, girlfriend supplying arms, uniforms to bandits in Zamfara

    The Zamfara State Government has confirmed the arrest of an Army officer and his girlfriend for aiding banditry in the state.

    The officer is accused of supplying arms, military uniforms, and other items to the bandits.

    Authorities in the state say the arrest further confirms the position of the state Governor Bello Matawalle, that until the security structure in the state is reviewed, banditry and kidnapping will continue to strive.

    The government is worried that some security operatives deployed to protect the lives and properties of residents are now aiding banditry which is worsening the situation.

    “Another issue of topical importance is the recent arrest by the Military of an Army officer and his girlfriend who are engaged in assisting bandits with Military uniforms and ammunition in active connivance with other saboteurs.

    “While the state government awaits the action the military will take on this matter and make an official statement, the development has further proved the position of Governor Bello Mohammed that until bad eggs and saboteurs among those fighting banditry are cleared, we may not record the desired success in the fight.

    “Let me use this medium to salute the courage and patriotism of the individuals who came forward with information that led to the arrest of these traitors,” a government communique partly read.

    The Police Command in Anambra has arrested one Nonso Eze, 37, for allegedly pushing a lady to her death from his apartment on the fifth floor of a 5-storey building.
    The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Haruna Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Awka.
    Mohammed said the incident occurred at about 3a.m. on Saturday at No. 6 Orakwe Close, Fizzle, Awada-Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
    The spokesman, who noted that the matter was reported to Awada Police Station at about 6:30a.m. of same day, said the victim, yet to be identified, was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
    “Police operatives attached to Awada Division visited the scene, photographed the victim and rushed her to a hospital in Onitsha for medical attention but was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
    “Consequently, preliminary inquiry from the occupants of the compound revealed that the girl was allegedly pushed down from the room of one Nonso Eze, 37, of same address following a quarrel,” he said.
    According to him, the suspect was subsequently arrested and following a search executed in his apartment, a pair of female slippers and unused condom was recovered as exhibits.
    Meanwhile, Mohammed said the lady’s corpse has be deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy while investigation will continue to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
    He added that the suspect will be prosecuted after a full-scale investigation.

    19-year-old actress burns ex-lover’s girlfriend to death

    A 19-year-old girl, Jemila Ibraheem, was on Wednesday remanded in police custody in Lagos State, over alleged murder of her ex-lover’s new girlfriend.

    Ibraheem, who is an upcoming actress and resides in Satelite town area of Lagos, was charged with a count of murder.

    The court however, did not take her plea.

    Magistrate P.E. Nwaka, ordered that the defendant be kept at the Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, pending advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

    Nwaka, adjourned the case until Jan. 4, 2021, for mention.

    Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Thomas Nurudeen, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 18, on Ekoba St., at Monkey Village, Satelite town, Lagos.

    According to him, the defendant went to her ex-lover’s house and saw that the deceased, who was the new girlfriend had stayed overnight.

    Nurudeen told the court that in a fit of rage, the defendant poured fuel all over the house and used a lighter to set the house on fire, with the deceased inside it.

    He further stated that the deceased was rescued from the fire with the help of some neighbors but later died at the hospital as a result of all the burns she sustained.

    Nurudeen noted that the alleged offence contravenes Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (revised)

    The Ogun police command says it has arrested a 31-year-old man, Rexlawson Johnson, an indigene of Ebonyi, over alleged gruesome murder of his girlfriend, Patricia John.

    Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command’s Spokesman, said in a statement that the suspect was arrested on Friday following a report by the manager of “MOLAYO HOTEL,” Ibafo.

    The hotel staff said they discovered the dead body of a lodger in a room with bruises on her neck, suggesting that the deceased might have been strangulated.

    The police spokesman said that the Ibafo Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Jide Joshua, thereafter led detectives to the scene and recovered the corpse, which was deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu for postmortem.

    “Preliminary investigation later revealed that the deceased checked into the hotel with a man who sneaked out of the hotel after killing the woman.

    “Consequently, the DPO and his men commenced technical and intelligence based investigation which led to unraveling the identity of the suspect.

    “He was subsequently traced and apprehended by the detectives.

    “On interrogation, he confessed checking into the hotel with the deceased and that they had a misunderstanding which led to physical assault between them.

    “In the process, he said the woman collapsed and gave up the ghost. He subsequently left the corpse in the room and sneaked out of the hotel,” he said.

    Oyeyemi stated that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

    He appealed to hoteliers in the state to always have proper documentation of their customers in order to assist the police in a situation like this.

    He then went on his knees, resting on an object, and appeared to be fainting.

     

    Oblivious that it was a hoax, the action left his girlfriend worried as she is seen calling on others to help with water and medical assistance.

    Amid the consequent drama, Baloking wrapped his hands around her and then proposed to her.

     

    His action came as a shock to Adejoke, who would eventually accept the proposal joyful noise from friends.

     

    In a post on her Twitter page, Adejoke, an entrepreneur, reaffirmed her love for Baloking, adding that she never envisaged such a prank from him.

     

    “To the man of my dreams @Baloking_Hub I said YES… I love you yesterday, today, tomorrow, forever and 200 days!..Thanks for loving me unconditionally…and this prank got me,” she wrote.

    Budding singer, Sanni Goriola, better known as Lil Frosh has finally spoken on the domestic violence allegations with an apology to the public and Gift Camille, his girlfriend.

    Pandemonium struck at the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Thursday when a yet-to-be-identified policeman shoot his girlfriend in the mouth and took to his heels.

    According to reports, the incident happened at Salvation Bus Stop in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

    Footage of the incident, which had been trending online showed the lady grappling in pain as some good Samaritans rushed her to the hospital for treatment.

    In the footage, the lady’s chick had torn due to the impact of the bullet that pierced her mouth.

    The lady was also seen sitting on the floor of a hospital wallowing in pain while waiting for a doctor to attend to her.

    When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said, “The policeman has been identified, not in Lagos command, but works in Lagos State.

    “He is the lady’s boyfriend; we will get him. We guess they have a conflict that triggered the shooting. Policemen have been sent to the hospital to visit the lady and get some facts when she is stable.”
