    Gov Kefas appoints Senator Manu chairman committee for Mobilisation of Devt and Investment

    Governor of Taraba state, Dr Agbu Kefas has appointed a seasoned administrator, Senator Manu Haruna as Chairman Committee for Mobilisation of Development and Investment.

    This was contained in a release signed by the Secretary to the State Government Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps on Saturday.

    Senator Manu who represents Taraba Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly was a two term deputy governor of Taraba and currently he is the deputy chairman Senate committee on Local and Foreign Debts.

    He is also the deputy chairman Senate committee on Public Procurement and was one time deputy chairman HoR committee on Banking and Currency in the 8th Assembly.

    He’s expected to showcase his vast experience in driving the committee to greater heights of excellence.

    Recall that last Friday, Governor Kefas had convened critical stakeholders in Abuja where a memorandum of understanding was signed with Chinese engineering and construction giant CCECC.

    The Senator representing Taraba Central Senatorial District, Manu Haruna has hailed Governor Agbu Kefas bold move to transform Taraba state into an industrial hub in the north east geo-political zone of Nigeria.

    Speaking at the sidelines during the critical stakeholders confab with CCECC in Abuja on Friday convened by the tireless governor, Senator Manu said:

    “I commend our governor for this bold move towards making Taraba a major distributor of renewable energy, food and industrial enhancement in our region and by extension the entire country.

    He said the governor’s move is second to none as the three critical pillars being canvassed are essential for the state’s growth: energy development, infrastructural enhancements, and initiatives aimed at securing food and economic stability.

    The former Taraba deputy governor explained that: “There’s no doubt in my mind that the governor has all it takes to turnaround our dear state within a short period.

    “This is a commendable move that must be pursued vigorously by all stakeholders as I equally hail CCECC a global engineering outfit with an impeccable track record for signing this MoU with Taraba State Government.

    Taraba gov, Kefas condemns killing of passengers

    The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has condemned in strong terms the killing of travellers from Zaki -Biam in Benue state to Maihula in Taraba State.

    The Governor has called for calm and directed security agencies who are already working to ensure law and order in the general area to further ensure that there is no escalation of the situation.

    Governor Kefas warn against groups or individuals taking laws into their hands and charge security agencies to go after those behind the dastardly act.

    While condoling with the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate attack, the Governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to ensure peace, security and well-being of all Tarabans irrespective of their tribes or other affiliations.

    Governor Kefas imposes 24-hour curfew in some parts of Taraba

    Following the renewed violence and unabated killings in some parts of Taraba,Governor Agbu Kefas has has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Karim-Lamido Local Government Council.

    Kefas Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda announced a dawn-to-dusk curfew, on Sunday evening via a statement signed and released by him.

    Several people were confirmed killed and goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in Wurkun and Karinjo communities between yesterday and today.

    The curfew, according to the statement, followed renewed communal conflicts in some parts of the local government council.

    Security agencies, as further stated in the statement, have been mandated to ensure strict compliance.

    “Any person or group of persons found violating the order shall be dealt with in accordance with the law, ” the governor warned.

    He also directed all the ward heads, village heads, traditional rulers, and stakeholders in the council, to ensure strict compliance of the directive in their various domains.
