    I”ll fish out killers of Northern woman – Soludo

    As condemnations trail the brutal killing of a Northern Woman and her children in Anambra State, Governor Charles Soludo, has vowed to fish out the killers.

     

    The woman and her children were allegedly killed by IPOB militants in the state.

     

    Gov Soludo described the May 20 killing as “barbaric and unacceptable without naming the killers.

     

    In a Statement signed by Christian Aburime, his Chief Press Secretary, Soludo vowed to fish out the perpetrators and ensured they were dealt with according to law.

     

    He said that all law-abiding Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion, were entitled to reside and or do business in any part of the country, including the Southeast and in Anambra without fear of unlawful harassment, molestation or attack of any kind, under any guise by anyone or group.

     

    He said “no group or Nigerian is justified to harass, attack or kill any citizen of Nigeria or anyone resident in Nigeria under any guise whatsoever unless in lawful execution of a court sentence.

     

    “Perpetrators of these heinous atrocities and their sponsors are testing the resolve of the Government and people of Anambra State, but I assure you that efforts are underway to fish out and bring to justice whoever is behind the criminal activities.

     

    “All Nigerians living or doing business in Anambra are assured, of the resolve of the State government to ensure adequate protection of their lives and properties at all times,” he stated.

     

    In a related development, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has alleged an ethnic cleansing agenda against Northerners residing in the Southeast.

     

    AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima alleged the failure of South-East governors to stop the killing of Northerners in their region indicated they had an ethnic cleansing agenda.

     

    He was reacting to the murder of a pregnant woman, Fatima and her four children in Anambra State. (Read also MURIC reaction)

    Soludo to Vice President: You are leading well, acting excellently

    Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state has praised Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for leading Nigeria very well when he has had the opportunity, stressing that, he acted excellently.

    Soludo made the remarks when he received Prof. Osinbajo at the Anambra State Government House on Friday as the Vice President continued his consultations with APC delegates.

    The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria noted that the Vice President has been one of the biggest promoters of Made in Nigeria products.

    Soludo expressed excitement and hope of a cordial working relationship with the Vice President, noting that, he was most delighted to welcome Prof. Osinbajo to Anambra State, adding that the VP has been instrumental in promoting MSMEs and youth development.

    “You have been to Anambra severally, but the one that I was part of, in receiving you, and the one dear to my heart, was when you came to commission the shoe factory (at Ogbunike).

    “Our government is about promoting made in Anambra, made in Nigeria (products). You came to empower us with that, with the MSMEs and thousands of youths and the less privileged in that particular industry.

    Prof. Soludo also commended the Vice President for his efforts in government and for steering the National Economic Council, as its chairman, noting that NEC “coordinates all economic agenda of the 36 states of this country.”

    “And in that capacity, I must state that Mr Vice President, also coordinating several of the special intervention programmes of the Federal Government, has been leading us well. In various areas and capacities where he has been assigned to do that, he has acted excellently,” he added.

    Governor Soludo noted that all the progressives should come together to build a better Nigeria and make it work, “because we believe that if all the 36 states of the Federation work, Nigeria works.”

    Soludo appoints Prof Odinkalu, Charly boy, Onyeka Onwenu, others to stop the activities of IPOB

    Anambra Governor, Charles Soludo has appointed human rights activist, Prof Chidi Odinkalu, as head of a 15- member Truth, Justice and Peace Commission to stop the activities of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).

    The committee’s Secretary is Amb. Bianca Ojukwu and other members of the committee are Mr Charles Oputa (Charly boy); music icon Onyeka Onwenu; Dr. Joe Nwaorgu; Dr. Udenta Udenta; Dr. Uju Agomoh; Rev. Fr (Msgnr); Jerome Madueke and Canon Dr. Okechukwu C. Obi-Okoye.

    In a statement on Wednesday by Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, the committee also has as members Dr. John Out; Mr. Ngozi Odumuko; Dr. Joe Abah, Mr. Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu; Mr. Sam Egwuatu and Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu.

    The committee, the statement explained, will seek a restorative justice approach for truth-telling or real facts, for the healing of the victims of the violence, accounting for responsibility and accountability of the actors, conditional mercy for the repentant perpetrators, restitution for certain losses and rehabilitation of the perpetrators, for the overall aim of restoration of peace and justice as well as the promotion of development in the State, and the region/Nigeria.

    It has a six-month timeline to conclude the assignment from the date of inauguration.

    No date has however been fixed for the inauguration of the committee.
