“Anti-party begets anti-party. You seen what they did? We took small parties in Rivers to court…APC, SDP.

Igbo Youths knock Wike, G-5 governors, accused them of playing dirty politics

The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has once again attacked the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike accusing him  and four other G-5 governors of killing Igbo presidency by playing out dirty politics in the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

Govenor Wike and four other aggrieved governors are presently out of the country where they will be deliberating on who to support for the 2023 presidential elections.

Speculations are rife that they will be taking a decision on who to choose between Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

However, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths have accused Wike of being self-centred in his politics.

According to a  statement made available to the media on Wednesday, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike described Wike’s movement as one driven by selfish interest and greed.

Okwu, who berated the Rivers Governor for working against a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction, said Wike was now playing the ostrich.

“We want to tell Nigerians not to be deceived by the likes of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who claims to be fighting against injustice in the PDP whereas he is merely pursuing selfish interests.

“It is on record that Governor Wike scuttled the micro-zoning of the PDP presidential ticket to the South-East because he felt he would bamboozle his way and get the ticket. But having failed to realise that selfish ambition, he turned to be shouting for justice and equity.

“Where was the equity when he chased Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party out of PDP? Where was equity when he refused all entreaties to back someone from the South-East for the PDP ticket? Now that he failed to clinch to the ticket, he now realises there is equity.

“Nigerians should not be deceived by Wike’s gimmicks. I also urged the governors moving with him to realise that he is pursuing a personal agenda. There is nothing like integrity in what he is doing, so his claim of leading ‘an integrity group’ should be discarded,” the Igbo youth President declared.

He also noted that the G-5 governor’s decision to pick a candidate for support will be laced with greed and selfish desires.

  • PDP Crisis: Dele Momodu appeals to Wike’s camp

PDP Crisis: Dele Momodu appeals to Wike’s camp

Veteran journalist and publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, has lent his voice on the lingering crisis bedeviling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Recall that some chieftains of the party have pulled out of the 2023 campaign team of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the party’s presidential candidate.

Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike and his sympathizers have announced they will not be part of the PDP campaign team ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The development was disclosed shortly after a meeting early Wednesday morning in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

It was gathered that members of Wike’s team, during the meeting, vowed not to play any role in Atiku’s campaign ahead of the 2023 general elections.

They insist that the party’s National Chairman Iyiorcha Ayu should resign from his position as a condition for them to partake in its activities.

However, in his reaction, to the development, Momodu, posited that situation will definitely calm down in the end.

The Ovation Magazine publisher, made this known during an interview on Arise Tv Morning programme on Thursday.

He also appealed to Wike, who he described as his friend and brother, not to destroy what he had worked so hard to build, adding that he should not carry it too far.

“Well, I believe that things will calm down eventually. We will continue to appeal to aggrieved members of the party. As a journalist you know that no matter what happens, no news can remain permanently on the front burner and that is the reason I have been appealing to my very dear friend, my good brother, governor Nyesom Wike, that, look, don’t carry it too far.

“It is months after the presidential primary, people are still angry, people are still aggrieved, which is very unfortunate. And it is important to know something, is it possible for Atiku to unilaterally remove Dr. Ayu? The answer is no.

“So those who are aggrieved should continue to engage the party and should not say things that would destroy the party because every day you attack your party, what you intend to do is to weaken the party so if tomorrow we remove Ayu and the party is dead so what have you gain?

“So for me, we must continue to engage in dialogue that is the whole basis of democracy. I think our candidate has done very well. He travelled to London to engage directly with governor Wike and his friends and his supporters and that is the right thing to do. He’s done that. And what I thought they would do was come back home to Nigeria and continue the engagement. But every day, there is a new threat against the party.

“I am worried, especially for a man who has done enough for the party. Governor Wike has been the coastal boy of PDP. He is easily the best governor in Nigeria in terms of performance and delivery of the dividends of democracy to his people and to Nigeria. He should not destroy what he has worked so hard to build.” He said.
