  • Biafra: Governorship election won’t hold in Anambra in November – Nnamdi Kanu

Biafra: Governorship election won’t hold in Anambra in November – Nnamdi Kanu

…Says FG should build more prisons to jail ‘biafrans’

The embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on Wednesday warned that the governorship election in Anambra scheduled for November this year may not hold if the Federal Government fails to recognise the Republic of Biafra.

Kanu, who spoke at his father’s palace in Afara Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State, added that people of South East and other under the old Eastern Region would not participate in the 2019 general election if the government ignores the demand for referendum.

He also faulted his exclusion from the ongoing stakeholders meeting in Aso Rock, saying he would not relent in his agitation for Biafra.

The IPOB leader said: “Nigerian government should build as many prisons as possible to jail all Biafrans because there is no going back and we are ready to go there (prisons) unless the Federal Government gives us Biafra.

We are starting with Anambra come November this year. There will be no governorship election in Anambra State. In 2019, the whole of Biafra land will not vote for any president. There will be no senator, there will be no House of Reps, there will be no House of Assembly and there will be no councillorship elections in Biafra land if they (Federal Government) fail to call for a referendum.”

He urged his members to remain steadfast and calm as Biafra remains their only hope.

We are not like any other people. People like us don’t come twice. That’s why I know that with the last breath in this very body that Biafra will be restored. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. Tell them that’s what I said. Nobody on this earth can stop Biafra,” he added.

  • I’ll contest Ekiti governorship election in 2018 – Segun Oni

Former governor of Ekiti State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC Engr. Olusegun Oni has declared his intention to contest for the governorship election in the state due to hold in 2018.

Oni, who is the current Deputy National Chairman (South) of the ruling APC, said the party was ready to take over power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the coming election in the state.

He made this known while speaking with reporters at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, at the get-together organised by Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters Babafemi Ojudu for leaders and members of APC from the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.

The party chieftain called on Nigerians to be patient with the APC-led Federal Government which he said is taking its time to clear the mess generated by the 16-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

When asked if he will contest the 2018 election, Oni simply replied: “I will.”

Speaking earlier on alleged existence of factions in his party, the former governor said: “We are one party, there must be interest groups. We are going into the election and anybody contesting must go with his crowd. Our leader is Chief Jide Awe.”

He added that Nigerians would soon begin to enjoy relief as the Federal Government was making frantic efforts to end the recession.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Oni was governor of Ekiti State from 29 May 2007 to 15 October 2010. He lost the seat to former governor Kayode Fayemi.

  • Fayose drops bombshell, says, I am not sure of the platform to use for Ekiti 2018 governorship election

Sequel to the recently concluded results of the Ondo State governorship election which the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP lost to the All Progressives Congress, APC Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said he is not sure if he will present his candidate on the platform of the PDP.

Fayose, who dropped the hint in Ikere Ekiti while meeting with the members of the Suppliers’ Association of Nigeria, Ikere chapter, said “I don’t know the platform I will use for the 2018 election yet and at the appropriate time, I will tell you”.

“We are still studying the situation. We have to play the game left, right and centre and whoever we are going to use and the platform, you will all be part of the process because party politics is about the people”. Fayose also said the victory of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the APC in the Saturday’s governorship poll in Ondo State does not in any way threaten the popularity and general acceptability of the PDP in Ekiti.

The governor, who described Akeredolu’s victory at the poll as a collaborative effort of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the ruling APC, added that the victory did not confer legitimacy on the poll or lent credence to the fact that Ondo electorate had voted rightly.

“You all saw how people sold their votes in Ondo state, I am confident that that will not happen in Ekiti. I am close to the people you are the source of my strength . Even if it requires just 48 hours to any election, if I tell you where to go, you will surely follow me there”, Fayose said.

Meanwhile at a separate meeting with the junior staff of the state civil service, Fayose had also boasted that he will repeat the 16-0 he meted out to Ex-governor Kayode Fayemi in 2014, where he defeated the incumbent in all the sixteen local governments.

In his words: “APC will be fooling itself if it thinks it will conquer Ekiti like it did in Ondo. Ekiti is a peculiar place and I am the man on ground here. I want to assure my supporters and Nigerians that APC won’t win a local government here in 2018, even if President Muhammadu Buhari moves down all the money in FG’s TSA.

“Governor Olusegun Mimiko and Eyitayo Jegede must have lost in Ondo State, but that does not mean the people had voted rightly. In 2015, people clamoured for change and what have we got now? Nigerians are becoming poorer than ever.

“Today, I am the only one among the APC governors in the southwest. I am now like the nation of Israel surrounded by enemies, but I shall defeat and triumph over them. “APC has never defeated me in any battle, either political or legal. Whether they like it or not, I will win in Ekiti no matter the animosity, because I have the people behind me”, Fayose said.
