EPL: Chelsea demolish Wolves, now 4th on the table

Chelsea surmounted an initially difficult defensive play from Wolves before Christian Pulisic scored minutes before half time  to give the Blues a breadth of fresh air.

Kai Harvertz and Armando Broja added the second and third respectively to complete the rout over struggling  Wolverhampton wanderers.

The result meant that Graham Potter’s side have now won three straight games, two in the English Premier League and one against AC Milan in the Serie A.

Chelsea have jumped to fourth on the log with 16 points and a match in hand.

Graham Potters’ boys will travel to Villa to slug it out with Aston Villa who are looking forward to steady their ship in the current season.

EPL: Manchester City aim top spot as Arsenal battle Liverpool on match day 10

Chelsea’s new coach, Graham Potter is gradually settling in at Stamford Bridge after two back-to-back wins against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League and the 3-0 demolition of AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Chelsea, now full of confidence, will be the clear favourites to beat Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, particularly given the visitors make the trip without a manager.

Manchester City, fresh from demolishing Man United and Copenhagen in the EPL and UCL respectively is unlikely to show any mercy against Southampton on Saturday.

Erling Haaland’s rate of scoring continues to look more absurd with each passing week and he will undoubtedly have his eye on a fourth straight league hat-trick on home soil.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has probably been waking up in cold sweats thinking about this fixture.

The Austrian is under real pressure with his side 16th in the Premier League after three successive defeats. And everything suggests a fourth loss in a row will come on Saturday.

Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton tenure got off to a thrilling start with a 3-3 draw at Anfield last weekend.

The Seagulls will head into this game full of confidence, with Leandro Trossard the man to watch after his stunning hat-trick against Liverpool.

Brighton versus Tottenham hotspurs will be a very thrilling encounter.

Another interesting fixture of matchday ten comes from the Emirates as league leaders Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirate.

This is another true test of the Gunners’ title-challenging credentials, particularly after such an impressive win over their local rivals Tottenham last weekend.

Liverpool’s problems this season have been well-documented but Jurgen Klopp has a strong record against Arsenal. The Reds, though they sit in mid-table as things stand, will have aspirations of closing the 11-point gap at the top.

Everton versus West Ham is another thrilling encounter on match day 10.

Frank Lampard’s side has the best defensive record in the division, letting in just seven goals so far. Conversely, they’ve only scored seven, but there is a solidity about the Toffees that should stave off any fears of a relegation battle.

Forest surprised everyone on Friday when they announced a new three-year contract for manager Steve Cooper, who had been touted by many as the next Premier League boss to lose his job.

The club’s owners will, however, expect that backing to translate into results on the pitch, starting with Monday night’s meeting with Aston Villa.

West London meets east London on Sunday as Fulham make the short trip to West Ham.

The Hammers’ confidence level increased after their 2-0 defeat of Wolves last time out and another 1-0 victory over Anderlecht in the Europa Conference League.

West Ham United will be looking forward to securing maximum points against the team from Molineux to have a shot at making it to the top 6 at the end of the season.

The highlight of matchday 10 will be at Saint Mary’s and the Emirate where Arsenal and Manchester City could be swapping positions for at least for few hours.

A win for Manchester City today will take them to the summit of the EPL table pending Arsenal’s match with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

New Chelsea gaffer, Graham Potter, has explained that two key players will miss the match day 8 eight encounter with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Potter also provided the latest update on Marc Cucurella and Carney Chukwuemeka ahead of the Crystal Palace clash at Selhurst Park.

“They [Mendy and Kante] are not available,” Potter said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“They are absolutely fine in terms of coming through the rehab stages. NG has been on the grass with the team but not really full training.

“Edou is a bit further on but hasn’t had enough to be involved at the weekend. Maybe next week for him.”

He added, “We’ve got a bit of illness with Marc Cucurella and Carney. Apart from that, everybody is fit.”

UCL: Potter’s first match in charge of Chelsea ends in a draw

Chelsea manager Graham Potter’s first game in charge of Chelsea has ended on a shaky note, after the club was held to a 1-1 draw by Salzburg of Austria.

Potter’s side had already gone ahead in the game with Raheem Sterling’s goal before Austrian Midfielder of Nigerian descent Noah Arinzechukwu Okafor equalized for Salzburg to secure a point for his Austrian side.

It was a largely underwhelming performance from Chelsea, underlining the work Potter must do to repair the flaws in the expensively assembled squad left behind by Tuchel.

Tuchel was dismissed last Wednesday in the aftermath of Chelsea’s embarrassing 1-0 loss at Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League opener.

Liverpool and Manchester City are the only English Premier League Sides that won their match day two UEFA champions League games, Tottenham and Chelsea lost and drew respectively.
