Transfer: Haaland rejects massive Man City contract offer

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has rejected a £500,000-a-week contract offer from Manchester City.

AS report City put forward a “big offer” to Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola and father Alfe-Inge, but it was knocked back by his entourage.

Although it’s understood Haaland’s rejection of City is “not definitive” and he could still end up joining Pep Guardiola’s side.

But Real Madrid remains to be Haaland’s preferred destination.

Haaland is said to be “still waiting” for the LaLiga side to make their move as he wants to sign for the club at the end of the current campaign.

Transfer: Man City face deadline to sign Haaland

Premier League side Manchester City are facing a deadline to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland before his buyout clause jumps.

BILD says striker’s £64million release clause must be activated by April 30.

That means all clubs bidding to sign him must register their intention by then – while the Norwegian must also notify his current club of his intention to leave.

Sources in Germany suggest he will make his plans clear before the end of March.

A move to the Etihad is becoming increasingly likely while Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old’s situation.

However City are pushing hardest and should know in just over six weeks if they have been successful.

Why I like watching Jamie Vardy – Haaland

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland says he takes inspiration from Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

The 21-year-old is considered one of the best strikers in world football despite his young age.

And Haaland – a target for Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid amongst others – has cited Vardy as one of his idols.

Asked by Sky Sports which players he learns from, Haaland replied: I’ve been watching a lot of players, let’s take for example the run in behind the centre-back when the No 10 has the ball.

“You have maybe the best in the world at that, Jamie Vardy. I’ve been looking a lot at him on exactly this.

“I have always been watching a lot of football and I still do.

“When we play Saturday, I go home on Sunday and watch football all day.”

Bayern have Lewandowski and don’t need Haaland – Kahn

Bayern Munich chairman Oliver Kahn has insisted there is no need to move for Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland as the Bundesliga champions “have Robert Lewandowski.”

Kahn was following the line previously voiced by club president Herbert Hainer when he told Friday’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung that Lewandowski “will also still score 30-40 goals for a couple of years.”

Poland’s Lewandowski has been racking up scoring records in recent years but is 33 and has a contract to 2023.

Haaland meanwhile is not only considered the next big thing but at 21 likely has his best years ahead of him.

It is widely reported he has an exit clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract, valid next summer, which is considerably below his current market value.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Haaland, who realistically has his pick of top clubs across the continent if he does decide to leave Borussia Dortmund.

The agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland insists he could yet join Barcelona.

Despite Barca’s current financial difficulties, agent Mino Raiola says Haaland would be willing to wait for the Catalans.

He told NOS: “Can Haaland wait for Barcelona? Haaland can wait for everyone. We do not have a pre-agreement with any club. We will look for the best option and I do not rule out another year in Dortmund, theoretically this is still possible.

“Barcelona will always remain one of the biggest clubs in the world despite its current situation. In 1 or 2 years they will return.

“Barcelona has the power to create great economic agreements. They will only need 1 or 2 years to return.”

Rangnick will be manager to the end of the season with United before taking on a two-year consultancy role.

It’s suggested United will pay the German a massive €10m bonus if he convinces Haaland to sign for them.

Rangnick knows Haaland from his time involved with Red Bull’s football division, with the Norway international spending time with Red Bull Salzburg before moving to Germany.

Erling Haaland breaks record in 50th Bundesliga appearance

Erling Braut Haaland scored in a winning return for Borussia Dortmund at Wolfsburg to become the youngest player to reach 50 German Bundesliga goals.

The Norwegian, aged 21 years and 129 days, struck a late volley after coming on for his 50th Bundesliga appearance.

Wout Weghorst had given Wolfsburg the lead before an Emre Can penalty and Donyell Malen effort turned the game.

Dortmund briefly went top, but Bayern Munich beat Arminia Bielefeld 1-0 to go back above them.

Leroy Sane’s well-struck effort from outside the box helped Bayern Munich break a 44-year record. They have scored 102 Bundesliga goals in 2021, beating Cologne’s record of 101 in 1977.

Haaland’s goal for Dortmund was his 10th in just seven games of a season interrupted by a hip flexor muscle injury that had sidelined him since mid-October.

It was a positive end to a week that saw Dortmund crash out of the Champions League on Wednesday with a 3-1 loss to Sporting Lisbon.

With their sixth win in the last seven league matches, Dortmund moved up to 30 points, one below champions Bayern.

We’re discussing Haaland at Chelsea – Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has again stated his interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Despite their swoop for Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, Chelsea are also maintaining an interest in Haaland.

Tuchel told BILD: “We have talked about Erling Haaland several times and also during the transfer window. But then it seemed unrealistic and not at all possible to implement.

“But we are talking about him, because he is a fantastic player and the decisive player in Dortmund.

“It has never been really serious. But let’s see what happens in the next few weeks.”

Bundesliga: Haaland hits double in seven-goal comeback win

Erling Braut Haaland’s brace helped Borussia Dortmund come from behind three times to claim a thrilling Bundesliga victory at Bayer Leverkusen.

Haaland, who also grabbed an assist, cancelled out Florian Wirtz’s opener with a towering header and later scored the winner from the penalty spot.

In a frantic encounter, Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick and French winger Moussa Diaby scored for Leverkusen.

But goals from Haaland, Julian Brandt and Raphael Guerreiro saved Dortmund.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham had a goal ruled out for Dortmund shortly before half-time and Schick capitalised to put Leverkusen in the driving seat going into the break.

But Leverkusen’s lead lasted only minutes into the second half as Brandt controlled Haaland’s pass with his heel before firing into the roof of the net.

Six minutes later, Diaby’s long-range strike made it 3-2 to the hosts, but Guerreiro’s superb free-kick once again brought Dortmund level.

Marco Reus was eventually awarded a penalty when he was struck in the face by the arm of Odilon Kossounou and Haaland kept his cool to slot in the winner for Dortmund in the 77th minute.

Former Atletico Madrid star Christian Vieri says Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland will join Real Madrid next summer.

Vieri made the claim on his Bobo TV twitch channel.

In conversation with Antonio Cassano, Vieri said: “Well, on the other hand, they have told me that Haaland is going to Madrid at 100 per cent.

“That’s what they tell me, but I don’t know if it’s true.”

For his part, Cassano insists: “They have told me: ‘Be careful, that Bayern wants to sign Haaland’. And then also that Madrid want (Robert) Lewandowski for a couple of years. It would make sense to me.”
