Abramovich gives Tuchel green light to sign Haaland

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told manager Thomas Tuchel they have the spending power to land Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

BILD says Chelsea are right in the hunt and owner Abramovich has given his permission for a move worth more than €100million.

New Blues boss Tuchel could infuriate his old side by trying to lure their star striker away after one-and-a-half seasons.

He risks the ire of sporting director Michel Zorc, manager Hans-Joachim Watzke and any Dortmund fans who still hold him in high regard.

But Haaland is both one for the future and the here and now. Chelsea are desperately in need of a dependable presence up front and the Norwegian seems to tick every box.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to make statement signings in the summer to help his team challenge for the title.

The German knows he will be expected to challenge for the Premier League next season, or risk losing his job.

And according to Sky Sports News, Chelsea want Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Another target is David Alaba of Bayern Munich, who will be a free agent.

The Blues will have money to spend, and Haaland is the striker they see completing their attacking unit.

Meanwhile, Alaba is 28 and could slot in at left back, defensive midfield or central defence.

Real Madrid have been linked with the Austrian, but an official deal has not been announced.

The father of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has opened the door to a future move to Manchester United.

Alfe-Inge Haaland has compared United with Borussia Dortmund in a glowing show of praise amid speculation linking his son with Old Trafford.

Clubs across Europe are keen on acquiring Haaland’s talents, with Chelsea and Real Madrid in strong contention, but United appear to have an advantage.

“Manchester United have achieved great success in recent years,” Haaland told Sport1.

“The club is also trying to build something new there. But to draw comparison now is not so easy because he (Erling) is already playing in Dortmund.

“These are two very traditional clubs with a large fan base and a glorious history. Man United is a very proud club, just like Dortmund in Germany.”

Chelsea preparing club-record move for Haaland

Chelsea are prepared to pay record money to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland this year.

Haaland has also attracted interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.

The Athletic reports Chelsea are ‘determined’ to sign Haaland at the end of the season.

But his £66.6million release clause cannot be activated until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

To let their star man leave this summer, Dortmund will demand a huge transfer fee.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to make him their most expensive player in history.

That title is currently held by Kepa Arrizabalaga, who cost them £71.6m in 2018.

Haaland, 20, joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2019 for just £17.1m.

But his value has rocketed following his incredible spell of form in the Bundesliga.

Haaland ready to leave Borussia Dortmund – Matthaus

Erling Braud Haaland is ready to leave Borussia Dortmund, according to Germany legend Lothar Matthaus.

The Norwegian has scored 33 goals in 32 appearances for Dortmund since moving to Signal Igunda Park in January 2019.

Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been linked with the 20-year-old.

“Erling Haaland is a win not just for Dortmund but for the entire Bundesliga,” Matthaus tolld the Bundesliga’s official website.

“At the age of 20, he is a machine. He is a flying striker. He brings a positive energy in the team while also scoring goals. He is irreplaceable.

“Erling Haaland is regarded at Dortmund like Robert Lewandowski is at Bayern: the player up front who is not only responsible for the goals but in charge of dragging the team with him. He is a leader at the age of 20.

“That says a lot and on top of that, he knows what he needs to do. He works defensively as well, something I really enjoy seeing Robert Lewandowski do as well. He is not one to just stay forward. His mannerisms as well, for a 20-year-old, to not only think of himself but of his team.

“This positivity that he radiates, radiates on the team which is why I think that someday, Haaland will not be playing at Dortmund anymore and will make the next step. He is already ready and we are proud to have him in the Bundesliga.

“Dortmund need to be pleased to have gotten him because he is a striker that fits to a club with such emotions.”

Erling Haaland wins 2020 Golden Boy award

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has been rewarded for his stunning exploits, named the 2020 Golden Boy recipient.

The prize, presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and won by Joao Felix last year, is given to the best player aged 21 or under from a top-tier league in Europe.

And Norway international Haaland – the leading contender – graced Saturday’s front page of Tuttosport, beating the likes of Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and Barcelona sensation Ansu Fati to the award.

Haaland scored 44 goals across all competitions in 2019-20 – 16 of those coming in 18 appearances after a mid-season move from Austrian champions Salzburg to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

Among all Bundesliga players last season to have scored at least 10 goals, only Bayern star Robert Lewandowski (81.2) had a better minutes-per-goal record than Haaland (81.7).

Haaland has six goals in as many Bundesliga appearances for last season’s runners-up Dortmund this term.

The 20-year-old has found the back of the net four times through three Champions League fixtures in 2020-21, taking his tally to 11 goals from 11 matches across all competitions.

  • Transfer: Haaland dumps Man Utd for another club

Manchester United’s transfer target, Erling Braut Haaland, has reportedly chosen Juventus.

The Red Bull Salzburg forward has apparently agreed to join Juventus in January, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Italian news outlet report that the 19-year-old has met with Juventus officials and has decided to move to the Serie A giants.

Other clubs interested in the striker are Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig and had held talks with the youngster.
However, the Italian champions have beaten their European rivals to sign the attacker.
Haaland has scored 28 goals in 22 appearances this season and has a release clause of £26million (€30m).

Man Utd set to complete £76m deal for striker

Manchester United are confident of signing Erling Braut Haaland in January for a £76million ($100m) fee, The UK Sun reports.

Red Bull Salzburg are however insisting on a deal, that would see the 19-year-old return on loan for the remainder of the season.

Although United would prefer to have Haaland right away, they will accept the terms.

Haaland took the Champions League by storm this season, becoming the first teenager to score in five consecutive games in the competition.

However, despite his eight goals in six group games, Salzburg were unable to reach the knockout stage of the tournament.

Haaland has scored 28 goals in 22 games in all competitions this season.
