“Yeah it was a lot of fun out there. I really enjoyed it and it’s nice to see the fans coming up with new chants and stuff. I just loved it, so I enjoyed it.

EPL: Nicolas Jackson scores first PL hat trick as Chelsea humiliate 9-man Tottenham 4-1

Tottenham Hotspurs’ defense  completely collapsed after the Lilly Whites saw two defensive minded players, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie receive their marching orders in both halves of the thrilling encounter on Monday night at the Tottenham Stadium.

Spurs started perfectly as Dejan Kulusevski cut in from the right side and saw his deflected effort find the back of the net in the sixth minute.

The hosts almost doubled their lead only for Son Heung-Min’s goal to be ruled out for offside but the first of many VAR calls.

The video refs then chalked off a goal for Raheem Sterling before cancelling out Moises Caicedo’s equaliser. This VAR check also resulted in the first of Tottenham’s red card as Cristian Romero was judged to have seriously fouled Enzo Fernandez. Cole Palmer then slotted home the resultant penalty.

upon resumption of the  the second half, Destiny Udogie clipped Sterling and earned a second booking causing Tottenham to finish the game with nine men. They kept Chelsea at bay  for 17 minutes before Sterling nipped in behind and played in Nicolas Jackson.

Giroud nets hat-trick as AC Milan thrash Sampdoria

An Olivier Giroud hat-trick helped AC Milan demolish already-relegated Sampdoria 5-1 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday, earning Stefano Pioli’s side a much-needed morale boost.

Rafael Leao put AC Milan ahead in the ninth minute before Sampdoria found an equaliser.

But three goals from Giroud and a Brahim Diaz strike sealed a convincing win for the recently-stumbling AC Milan.

They remain fifth on 64 points and have provisionally cut the gap with fourth-placed Lazio to one point before Maurizio Sarri’s men travel to Udinese on Sunday.

AC Milan were knocked out in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week by Inter Milan in the semi-finals.

That was after falling to a shock 2-0 Serie A loss by lowly Spezia last weekend.

Now, they displayed a confidence they lately lacked.

“It was good to let go of the disappointment suffered with the elimination from the Champions League,” Pioli told reporters.

“We played a good match, scoring many goals. It can only do us good.”

Leao gave AC Milan an early lead at the San Siro when he beat Sampdoria goalkeeper Nicola Ravaglia with a precise low shot into the bottom right corner.

But Sampdoria managed to level shortly after through forward Fabio Quagliarella, who ended his longest run without a goal in Serie A.

This was after he had failed to find the net in his previous 20 games.

AC Milan, however, responded immediately when Giroud ended a six-game goal drought in the league by heading in to restore the lead.

The Frenchman made it 3-1 from the penalty kick spot in the 29th minute after Sampdoria defender Koray Guenter took down Leao inside the box.

AC Milan kept the pressure on after the break as they sought to increase the lead.

Giroud was close to completing a hat-trick but Ravaglia showed great reflexes when he saved his close-range header.

Diaz added a goal to his two assists on the night, helped by a stunning cross by Tonali in the 63rd minute.

Giroud completed his hat-trick soon after.

Bottom-placed Sampdoria are on course to finish bottom of Serie A for the first time in their history.

AC Milan travel to Juventus on May 28 before they end the season with a home game against lowly Hellas Verona the following weekend.

In earlier games, Bologna hammered Cremonese 5-1 to leave the second-bottom side on 24 points and on brink of relegation.

Atalanta came from a goal down to beat Hellas Verona 3-1 and move up one place to sixth, two points ahead of seventh-placed AS Roma.

  • Europa: Di Maria’s hat-trick sends Juventus into last 16

Europa: Di Maria’s hat-trick sends Juventus into last 16

Angel Di Maria scored a hat-trick on Thursday as Juventus thumped 10-man Nantes 3-0 to reach the Europa League round of 16.

Juventus who are playing away qualified on a 4-1 aggregate.

They played to a 1-1 draw against the French side in the home leg as they eyed a long run in the European competition to boost a miserable campaign in which they have been deducted 15 Serie A points for financial irregularities.

“I am happy with the performance, it was not an easy game after the first-leg result, as the crowd here is very passionate.

“Just because we were eliminated from the Champions League does not mean it will be easy to win the Europa League. It isn’t, but we have the duty to try and go all the way, just as we do in Serie A,” Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri, said.

Argentine Di Maria put Juventus ahead after five minutes with a delightful curling strike from the edge of the box into the top corner.

The evening got worse for Nantes after 18 minutes when defender Nicolas Pallois was sent off for using his arm to stop another goal from Di Maria and the 35-year-old Argentine player had no problem converting the penalty.

Filip Kostic was close to getting a third for Juventus in first-half stoppage time, but his shot hit the inside of the post and the rebound landed in the hands of Nantes keeper Alban Lafont.

Juve’s Alex Sandro sent in a diving header late in the second half but Lafont was down quickly to make an impressive one-handed save.

Di Maria completed his treble 12 minutes from time when he sent in a glancing header and the ball just crossed the line before being pushed away.

It was Juve’s first hat-trick in a UEFA competition away from home since Filippo Inzaghi in 2000.

“He is a champion and different to the others,” Allegri said.

“Everything comes easily to him, he raises the overall level of the squad and the others all feel more relaxed in his presence. Di Maria is in the category of real champions.”

In other encounters, PSV humbled Sevilla 2-0, Midtjylland lost 0-4 to Sporting CP, Union Berlin overpowered Ajax 3-1, Roma ran away with a 2-1 defeat of RB Salzburg, while Manchester United defeated Barcelona 2-1.

The draw for the round of 16 will be held on Friday.

  • Ronaldo gets huge bonus after scoring hat-trick

Ronaldo gets huge bonus after scoring hat-trick

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Norwich City has earned him a huge new cash bonus.

The Sun says his 60th career hat-trick earned him an £850,000 windfall.

The superstar forward hit an Old Trafford treble for a second Premier League game running to clinch victory over basement boys Norwich.

It took him to 21 goals in all competitions this season, triggering a bonus-related clause in his contract.

When Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in the summer, a set of incentives were included in the deal.

Saturday’s heroics saw him bank two of those — the first a £750,000 bonus for reaching 20 goals and then another £100,000 for his hat-trick strike.

Having reached his initial goals target, the Portuguese ace will continue to bank an extra £100,000, like yesterday, for every additional goal he bags this term.

Ronaldo, 37, is near certain to end the campaign as United’s top scorer to earn another jackpot — believed to be around £1million.

And if he manages to reach the 30-goal mark the five-time World Footballer of the Year will bank around £2.75m in total payments.

Hat-trick: A big moment for me – Mason Mount

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was full of pride after his hat-trick in victory over Norwich City.

The Blues smashed Norwich 7-0 on Saturday.

Mount said: “Before the game I put pressure on myself to get on the scoresheet, then three came around in the same game. It’s obviously a massive moment for me. I’ll remember this one for a long time.

“I was always getting in positions to score, but I just wasn’t putting it in the back of the net. I thought the last one might be offside. It was my luck today, but it’s also about the team. We spoke before about being at it from the beginning, we did that today.

“Players came in in the absence of other players. We were on it the entire game but we never dropped our standards and kept going.

“I always want to play every game. Sometimes you’ve got to take a backwards step, but in the last couple of games I’ve felt at it and ready to play.

“It’s a big moment for me to score three at home at Stamford Bridge.”

Jonjo Shelvey delivered the set-piece to the far post, where defender Emil Krafth rose to head firmly past the helpless Scott Carson, who was making his debut for City aged 35.

Shelvey hit the crossbar before a quickfire double from City put the champions back in control.

First, Joao Cancelo’s shot clipped Jacob Murphy’s heels and flew past the wrong-footed Martin Dubravka before Torres audaciously flicked Ilkay Gundogan’s free-kick across him and inside the far post.

City were pegged back in first-half injury time when Nathan Ake fouled Joelinton inside the area, and the striker brushed himself off to equalise.

Newcastle had another penalty shortly after half-time, this time Kyle Walker the guilty defender on Joe Willock, and Willock saw his effort saved before smashing home the rebound.

But, another quickfire double from City settled the game as Torres got his second and third goals inside two minutes.

Fernandes admits giving up hat-trick for Cavani

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes admits he considered going for his hat-trick before passing for Edinson Cavani to score in victory at Everton.

It marked Cavani’s first goal for the club and Fernandes declared getting their No7 off the mark was more important than his hat-trick.

Fernandes told BBC Sport: “The point is winning the game. [I set up Edinson Cavani because] for a striker it is important to score for his confidence, he will be important for us and the first goal will give him confidence.

“I don’t need to think about a hat-trick, I need to think about the future.

“Every game is important, we are not good in the league so these three points are important. We have a game in hand so we can go closer to the top of the table. We are not the best team now, and we are not the worst team after Istanbul.

“We will get better if we do the right things.”

But on resumption of play, Matheus Pereira shocked Everton with an equaliser, just after two minutes of play.

This was despite West Brom playing with 10 men after defender Kieran Gibbs and also their coach, Slaven Bilic were sent off.

Bilic had protested Gibbs red card, after the player head-butted Rodriguez.

The shocking levelling goal by the visitors roused Everton from slumber, as Michael Keane re-established their lead, to make the scoreline 3-2.
