kai Havertz not worth £65m Arsenal paid – Souness

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has taken a swipe at Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz.

Souness is unconvinced by the summer arrival from Chelsea.

He wrote for the Daily Mail: “They’ve laid out £65million on Kai Havertz.

“Surely you’re not spending that kind of money on what he’s shown at Chelsea in the past three seasons? They’ve shelled out in the hope that Mikel Arteta can get a very, very different tune out of him than Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel or Graham Potter ever did.

“Good luck with that one, Mikel.”

EPL: Mikel Arteta rejects Havertz criticism

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta rejected criticism of Kai Havertz after their 2-2 draw with Fulham.

Arteta was asked if the fans are turning on the German.

He said, “No, I saw an action when he played backwards and he could have turned. That’s more I think the demands of everybody to play forward and to impact the game in the final third because we had the urgency to win.

Asked if he’ll win over the fans, Havertz said: “Yes I think so.

“I think he’s done already really good things. Today it was tough in certain moments. He got in great areas and the ball didn’t arrive. In a lot of situations he should have scored a lot of goals already this season. That’s the thing that is missing there.”

Tuchel was sacked for no reason – Havertz fumes

Chelsea star Kai Havertz has criticised club owner for sacking German coach Thomas Tuchel this season.

Tuchel was dumped by Blues owner Todd Boehly and replaced by Graham Potter, who was also sacked last month.

Tuchel is now in charge of Bayern Munich and Havertz, quoted by the Daily Mail, stated: “Everything that could go wrong went wrong for us this year.

“The season started relatively calmly. We have changed ownership, which was a big change for the club.

“And then Thomas Tuchel was fired, which, of course, always matters in such a team. You succeed with a coach, and he gets fired for no reason.”

Chelsea doesn’t deserve to be 11th – Havertz

Kai Havertz has called for stability at Chelsea after their 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The match was the first since former manager Graham Potter’s dismissal.

Havertz said: “It’s tough. As always when a manager leaves a club. It’s not easy because it is our job to win games and when a manager gets the sack we also have to take responsibility for that. Now we have to accept how it is. We have to be professional and accept the situation.

“I mean I have to say first of all I have to say it’s really nice and I have to respect Bruno and the coaching staff to stand in front of the team when the manager got the sack. But now it’s not our job to think about who is coming. The owners decide that.

“We have to do the job on the pitch but when you have a manager for the long term it’s easier for us as players. We have the faces out there, everyone sees us and we are all very frustrated to see Graham go but we have to accept the situation.

“There are nine games to play in the league and Chelsea doesn’t deserve to be 11th. It’s not nice to be there but we all have to stick together. We are in the quarter-final of the Champions League and we have to get as much confidence as possible in the upcoming game. As players on the pitch we need the fans as well. We are in the last eight of the best teams in Europe. It’s not nice but we have to stick together.”

What Chelsea’s victory over Palace means – Havertz

Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz has dedicated the victory over Crystal Palace to Gianluca Vialli, who passed away last week.

The former Chelsea player and manager sadly passed away recently, with tributes for the Italian left before our clash with the Eagles at Stamford Bridge which ended in a 1-0 win for Graham Potter’s side thanks to a headed goal from Havertz just after the hour mark.

“That was for Luca, 100 per cent,” said Havertz.

“He’s a big legend of this club who did some amazing things here as both a player and as the coach.

“We are all very sad about his passing and it is very tough for his family, but I think it was meant to be that we won the game for him today.

“You could see with all the tributes and how we remembered him before the game that he meant so much to everyone at the club, so this is a really special win for us.”

The three points was Chelsea’s first victory of 2023 and Havertz added: “That’s a huge win for us, definitely.

“The last few weeks have been tough for us. We knew that it wouldn’t be easy today, we knew we’d have to work hard for the three points, but we said before the game that this could be a match that turns things around for us.

“I’m really happy to score and to help the team.

“I have to give credit, it was a fantastic cross from him and even in the first half he put some good balls into me.

“It took a little while but I finally scored in the end and I’m really happy, especially because it helped us to a big three points.

“We’ve got the three points and we can start moving forward now.”

Qatar 2022: We’re all very frustrated, disappointed – Havertz on Germany exit

Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz admits the German national team are dissappointed after shock World Cup exit.

Despite beating Costa Rica 4-2, Hansi Flick’s side were eliminated from the competition due to Spain’s superior goal difference.

Havertz scored a brace against the Central American side.

“It’s taken some time to understand what to say… We’re all very frustrated, disappointed, and many other feelings, it will take weeks to process this,” Havertz wrote on Instagram.

“Life is about ups and downs and it’s about coming back stronger from this!

“Sometimes you get the high moments like Japan did who played so well and sometimes you’re left on the other side feeling this pain, it is why football is such an amazing sport.

“We feel the pain of the nation.

“Thank you for the supports as always!”

EPL: Lukaku to sit on bench for remainder of season

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is ready to bench Romelu Lukaku for the remainder of the season.

The London Evening Standard says Tuchel will put his faith in Kai Havertz in his bid to salvage Chelsea’s season.

And that threatens to leave Lukaku out in the cold, with £97.5million striker facing a fight to regain his place at the point of attack.

Tuchel knows his only chances of further silverware this term are in the Champions League and FA Cup after falling away in the race for the Premier League title.

After failing to make it work with club-record signing Lukaku up front, he has turned to Havertz, who struck twice in Saturday’s 4-0 win at Burnley.

The German is Chelsea’s leading scorer since Tuchel took charge last year with 13 goals, and his manager has stated that the striker’s role is now his to lose.

While Tuchel’s ideal plan was to form a partnership between the Belgium international and Havertz, Lukaku’s struggles adapt to his teammates has increasingly seen him pushed to fringes.

Havertz defends Lukaku: You cannot forget his Club World Cup semifinal goal

Chelsea star Kai Havertz feels for Romelu Lukaku over his form woes.

Havertz is the player threatening to keep Lukaku out of the team for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool as Chelsea’s £97.5m record signing is struggling for form, goals and he now faces a battle to kickstart his career.

But there is genuine warmth towards a team-mate and friend from Havertz, rather than seeing Lukaku as a rival.

Havertz said: “I know this feeling. It’s not easy when you come to a club with a £100m package and everyone wants you to perform from the first to the last minute in a game. We are all human, everyone makes mistakes, but apart from that we are a little bit too bad on Rom.

“You cannot forget he scored in the semi-final and the final of the Club World Cup, goals which were huge for us. So, you cannot forget that.

“I was not the first in that situation. There were a lot of Chelsea players before in that situation. Rom is the not the first and he will be also not the last one. It takes some time.”

Havertz is the player for the big occasion. He scored the winner in the Champions League final, the winner in the Club World Cup final and now he has the chance for more success against Liverpool on Sunday.

“You know you have to enjoy these moments,” said Havertz. “After my career I am going to sit there and you could think ‘why didn’t I enjoy these moments more? As a kid, you see these games and think ‘how does the player feel? He is so happy.

“We play football to reach games like these, to play finals, I think everyone dreams of playing these games, these are the biggest games you can play as a footballer and we have a good opponent, a strong opponent on Sunday.
