  • How Usyk dismantled Dubois in the 5th round to become 3rd time undisputed heavyweight champion

How Usyk dismantled Dubois in the 5th round to become 3rd time undisputed heavyweight champion

In front of over 90,000 fans at Wembley, from Ukraine once again reminded the world why Oleksandr Usyk is one of the greatest heavyweights of our time.

On July 19, 2025, Oleksandr Usyk didn’t just defeat Daniel Dubois, he dismantled him.

This was no ordinary rematch. For Dubois, it was a shot at redemption. For Usyk, it was about legacy.

And by the time the fifth round bell echoed through the London night, only one man stood tall in the ring — undisputed and undeniable.

The tension in the air was electric. Dubois walked in heavier, bolder, and visibly charged. He had one mission: to erase the memory of their controversial first bout, where he landed a borderline body shot that many believed should’ve ended the fight. But Usyk wasn’t there to debate. He was there to dominate.

    And dominate he did.

From the first round, Usyk painted a masterpiece with his gloves. Every step was calculated. Every jab, a statement. He danced just out of range, lured Dubois in, then punished him with surgical precision. His southpaw stance frustrated the Brit. His left hand? A piston. His eyes? Unflinching.

Dubois threw heavy shots, no doubt. But Usyk had the answers — ducking, weaving, countering. Round by round, he broke the younger man down like a chess grandmaster.

The Knockout happened in the fifth.

  • TKO! Ngannou to undergo medical checkup after Anthony Joshua heavy bashing

TKO! Ngannou to undergo medical checkup after Anthony Joshua heavy bashing

Ex-UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, has said he needs to undergo more medical checkups following a brutal Anthony Joshua knockout last weekend.

Joshua floored Ngannou in the first round and early in the second.

The former UFC champion never recovered and was clearly dazed when he returned to his feet the second time.

It was then that Joshua delivered a powerful right hand to send Ngannou crumbling to the canvas.

The 37-year-old immediately received medical attention before he regained consciousness.

“We move, but regardless I feel okay. I was quite surprised that I remember everything from that fight night and coming back to the locker room. Basically I was conscious right after and since then everything has been good, although (I) still need to run some medical work just in case.

“I feel healthy but for the longevity of the sport… we better check and find out if there’s anything that could be done to get better now… I still need more checkups,” Ngannou said.

Joshua breaks down in tears, reacts to Usyk loss

Anthony Joshua broke down in tears at the post-fight press conference after losing his world-title challenge to Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua, 32, was defeated by split-decision, having also lost to the Ukrainian on points in September.

Asked if he was proud of his performance, Joshua became emotional.

“It’s really, really hard for me to say I’m proud of myself,” he said. “I’m upset, really, deep down in my heart.”

The two-time world champion then covered his face with both hands, taking deep breaths, as promoter Eddie Hearn took the next question.

Joshua composed himself and continued addressing the media.

The 2012 Olympic Gold medallist has been propelled into stardom ever since turning professional nine years ago.

He said the pressure and intrusion he faces “comes at a cost”.

Joshua added: “It will never break me but it takes real strength not to break me and tonight there is a little crack in the armour because that took a lot.”

Ex-African heavyweight champion, Ekwelum down with cancer

Ngozika Ekwelum, a former African Boxing Union (ABU) Heavyweight Champion is down with health challenges suspected to be prostate cancer.

Ekwuelum told NAN that he had been in and out of hospital, including the three months he spent at the cancer department of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu since the ailment developed two years ago.

He lamented that he had spent all his life savings on treating the sickness and needed more because he was still down.

The veteran pugilist said he had a coaching contract agreement with the defunct Ministry of Sports in Anambra which was terminated without benefit by the Anambra Sports Development Commission.

He said,  in spite of undergoing a series of surgeries, he was still bedridden with swollen legs, urinating blood, bladder and body pains.

According to him, “I have pains all over my private part area. The cancer has been there for about two years now, it has not been easy staying alive but thank God.

He said he was coaching young boxers for the Anambra Government on contract but the former management of the Sports Commission stopped him on the grounds of old age.

“The contract started when somebody donated boxing equipment of about N3.5 million to the state and they needed a coach, that was when I was employed to do the job, my age does not have anything to do with my knowledge of boxing,” he said.

Ekwelum called on the Anambra Government and the general public to come to his aid financially because managing cancer was not easy.

“Even my landlord has thrown me out of our three-bedroom flat due to inability to pay rent,” he said.

Ekwelum made waves in boxing in the late 60s and 80s, recorded about 31 victorious fights, including the historic victory over Joe Kalala of Ghana at the National Stadium, Lagos in 1980 which earned him ABU Heavyweight Champion.
