  • Ankle surgery: Paul Pogba speaks from hospital bed

Manchester United player, Paul Pogba, has taken to social media to let fans know of his state of health after recently undergoing ankle surgery.

Pogba who has only made eight appearances for Manchester United this season because of the ankle injury, took to Instagram to joke about his state of health.

Speaking on his Instagram stories on Tuesday afternoon, Pogba said: ‘I don’t even know if I’m high or sober, well I don’t look sober. You see my ankle like that, I can’t even feel my toes, but I’m still alive, that’s good news. I’ll keep you updated. I’ve still got the smile’.

Looking at two pieces of bread, he said: ‘It’s one thing I don’t understand, what do you want me to do with this? I can drink my pee-pee, it looks like apple juice, fresh one. I think people told me that I look drunk. I didn’t drink alcohol, they give me some things on my arm, I don’t know what’s that. I woke up, I couldn’t lift up my leg and I was like ‘where am I, in Manchester? In Paris? In Guinea?’

The France midfielder has missed over two months of the season due to an ankle problem but returned to action in Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Watford in December.

Also on Boxing Day, Pogba featured in the Red Devils’ 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United but missed the win over Burnley.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the 26-year-old missed the game against Burnley after complaining to Solskjaer he “didn’t feel right”.The midfielder then traveled to France to coach a team featuring his two brothers at a charity fundraiser.

Solskjaer told reporters he thought Pogba would be fit for the clash against Arsenal on New Year’s Day at the Emirates Stadium but couldn’t.

However, the midfielder will miss some crucial league and cup games for the Red Devils. He has just five Premier League starts for the Red Devils in 2019-20 football season and played just 71 minutes of football since the end of September.

Conspiracy theorists claim that Pogba’s incessant injury might be fake while linking it to a possible transfer to another club in the January transfer window but his agent Mino Raiola told Sky Sports that the midfielder will not leave the club because he “wants to win trophies” with the club.

Police speak on evacuation of Melaye from hospital bed

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday said the temporary relocation of Senator Dino Melaye to the medical facility of the Department of State Security (DSS) on Friday was part of preliminary arrangements for his coming trial in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Police spokesman, Moshood Jimoh, an acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated that Melaye was taken by policemen to the medical facility of the DSS and not their cell or detention facilities.

He said despite claims by the embattled Senator, the police medical team has been unable to find anything to confirm he has any infirmity that could delay his trial in Lokoja.

On the 9th of January, 2019 we got a High Court Remand Warrant to keep him in police custody for fourteen days.

The police medical team at our facility examined him and concluded that he was okay to stand trial but he is insisting that he is not okay; that is why we are taking him to another government hospital.

He has been taken to the DSS hospital and he will be returned to us after their medical examination because he does not have any case with SSS.

He only a case with the police and we are going to take him to court within the period covered by the Remand Warrant.

He will be taken to court within the period because the Remand Warrant is from an FCT High court, which gives us the permission to keep him in police custody for 14 days.

He was only taken to their (SSS) hospital; he is not in their custody.

Our people have examined him and we want another government hospital to also examine him and give a medical opinion.”

While promising to issue an official statement later on Friday night, the police spokesman also dismissed claims Melaye was taken away from police medical facilities by masked men.
