Mr Ibu’s condition: Popular actor may lose 2 toes to ailment – Ex-manager reveals

John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, a popular Nigerian actor, has been advised by doctors to undergo a surgical operation including the amputation of two toes due to diabetes issues.

This was disclosed by his close associate and former manager, Chochoo, comes after two months of persistent reports of the actor’s death circulating online.

Chochoo, who is still close to Mr. Ibu, has attempted to clarify the issue and put an end to the false allegations of the actor’s death.

While admitting the seriousness of Mr. Ibu’s health challenges, he highlighted that the actor is still alive and has elected to undertake the recommended surgical surgery to address his ongoing health concerns.

The decision to amputate two toes was not taken lightly, and it was made after consultations with medical professionals who determined that these toes had been severely affected by diabetes and were at risk of further deterioration.

Contrary to baseless online speculations that Mr. Ibu might lose an entire leg, the doctors have recommended a focused and targeted approach to preserve his overall health.

    In the former manager words;

“He has been dying online for about two months now. I don’t know where they are getting the news from because online, he is already dead but offline he is still alive. He is having another operation either today or tomorrow morning. I was his former manager but we are still very close. Online he is dead already but he is very much alive in reality.”

He has had some complications based on his health but this time he is battling with diabetes. Contrary to reports online that they want to cut off his leg, the doctors advised him to cut off two toes because they have been affected by the illness because they were getting rotten,” he added.

Nollywood actor, John Okafor, fondly called Mr. Ibu, has cried out for assistance over a medical condition.

In an Instagram video shared on Wednesday, the veteran actor disclosed he is battling with an illness from a hospital bed.

He said the doctor advised they might resort to cutting off his leg if other options are exhausted without no result.

Mr Ibu said, “While I am hoping for prayers and assistance, as I speak to you I am still lying down in the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that in case his new idea does not work, the next idea is to cut off my leg. Just see me, if they cut off my leg where would I go? Pray for me, I don’t want my leg to be cut off, thank you so much, God, bless you.”

Okafor’s wife and daughter, in the video, appealed to Nigerians to pray for them and lend financial assistance.
His daughter said that she has been sorting out the bills for as long as the actor has been ill.

She also stressed that the family would prefer to fly him out of the country for better treatment.

“I’ve been the one handling the bills and I am financially drained; we can’t do it alone. He’s not getting better, some days it looks like he is and other days it looks like he is getting worse.

“We are still at the hospital, and they want to transfer him to another hospital because he is not getting better.

We want to appeal to Nigerian individuals or organizations to please fly daddy abroad for better treatment. This is not the first-time daddy is down like this.”

SAD! Gaza hospital overwhelmed with 60% of human carnage of women and children

… four ambulance workers killed trying to rescue victims

The Red Crescent says four ambulance workers have been killed trying to rescue casualties including one shot dead by an Israeli sniper

Amidst international calls for safe humanitarian corridors out of Gaza ahead of an anticipated ground assault by Israel, a Red Crescent doctor says Israeli soldiers are targeting Palestinian ambulance crews.

Dr Bashar Murad, Red Crescent Director, said three ambulance workers died in a guided missile strike on Thursday in northern Gaza, with a fourth paramedic shot on Friday.

“The second targeting of today happened in the east of Gaza city despite obtaining coordination from the Red Cross to evacuate people, we were surprised by Israeli sniper fire,” said Dr Murad.

The ambulances are collecting those injured in Israel’s bombardment taking them to Al-Shifa, a hospital that has run out of beds for patients on its wards, and room for the dead in its morgue. Dead bodies are bagged up and stored outside.

Gaza’s health authority said 60% of those killed and injured are women and children.

Distraught ambulance worker, Muhammad Al-Louh, said: “What did these children sleeping in their homes do to them? So the whole world knows that we are staying on this land. This is the land of our children. Let this crime stop.

Esogban of Benin dies at 94

The Esogban of Benin, Chief David Edebiri has died after a brief illness in a private hospital in Benin City.

Family members said he died at 12:20 pm “He has not been too strong and we took him to the hospital a few days ago and he died this afternoon, the family will follow the protocols for the formal announcement to be made” a family member said.

The Esogban who is next after the Iyase (Prime Minister) of Benin is often referred to as the odiownere of Benin Kingdom.

His last major outing which was widely reported in the media was his participation in the March 18th Governorship and State House of Assembly elections where he said the February 25th Presidential election was the best since he started voting since 1951.

He said he had never missed any election since he casted his first vote in 1951 as a 22 years old young man. “I thank God I am alive to vote in this election.

“I am here to vote as I did two weeks ago. It will interest you to know that I started voting at the age of 22 in December 1951 in the regional election to the house of assembly elections at Ibadan. We were then part of Western Region. Since then I have not failed to vote in any election be it national or sub-nationals.

“Some of the things that happened in the last two weeks were just a fluke. Those who voted were not members of the party, they came for certain purposes to make some statements and when those statements failed, their interests died. The February 25 election was the best I have seen and taken part in since 1951.”

Edebiri who was a journalist and a writer, in 2022 unveiled two books which were “Tripod of Life: Essence of Benin Tradition and Culture” and “The life and Times of Iyase N’Ohenmwen” to mark his 93rd birthday where he said Nigeria derailed from the part of development when in 1979, the leaders adopted the American Presidential System of government which he said has not been practised as it should be.

Zulum probes hospital staff for allegedly rejecting accident victims

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has directed the Ministry of Health to investigate and fish out medical staff on duty for allegedly rejecting victims of accidents rushed to Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital in Maiduguri.

Zulum gave the directive on Thursday at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital.

The governor’s visit to the facility was in response to a video clip that went viral on social media showing how some medical officers allegedly rejected accident victims brought to the hospital.

He gave 24 hours for a probe team to identify the medical workers involved and to recommend appropriate sanctions.

“What happened is inhuman and unacceptable,” Zulum said as he addressed health workers at the hospital.

“A situation where patients are left crying for help, yet a hospital rejects them? We will not allow such a situation to repeat itself.

“I see no reason why disciplinary action will not be taken against the erring staff in this hospital.

“If any medical doctor or any personnel in any of our facilities is not willing to attend to patients without cogent reason, he or she should equally be fired without hesitation,” Zulum declared.

He ordered that: “Within the next 24 hours, the Hospital Management Board and the Ministry of Health should investigate the incident and ensure disciplinary measures are enforced against all those on duty that refused to admit victims of the accident brought here.”

The governor noted that the state government has invested heavily in the health sector, including the welfare of the medical officers, across the state.

He therefore called on medical officers to reciprocate the gesture by providing quality healthcare services to all patients without discrimination.

  • PALM SUNDAY: Pope presides over mass after hospital stay

PALM SUNDAY: Pope presides over mass after hospital stay

Pope Francis presided over mass in St Peter’s Square, Sunday, as he kicked off events leading to Easter, just a day after leaving the hospital following a bout of bronchitis.

The 86-year-old’s admittance to the hospital on Wednesday with breathing difficulties sparked concerns he may not be well enough to attend a series of rites in the most important week in the Christian calendar.

But Francis had promised to be present, and he waved briefly to some 30,000 people as he rode in his popemobile through the square, which was adorned with over 35,000 plants and flowers.

He looked serious as he followed the procession through St Peter’s Square of religious figures, including red-robed cardinals, carrying large palm leaves and olive branches.

PALM SUNDAY: Pope presides over mass after hospital stay

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Palm Sunday marks the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. Easter Sunday, which this year is on April 9, celebrates his resurrection from the dead.

As a smiling Francis had left Rome’s Gemelli hospital Saturday after a three-night stay, he quipped to well-wishers who asked how he was “I am still alive!”

The head of the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics has suffered from increasing health issues over the past few years, including knee problems that have forced him to use a wheelchair and walking stick.

Francis was expected to remain seated throughout the mass, while a cardinal conducts the ceremony at the altar.

The Vatican said this was an arrangement adopted prior to the pope’s latest illness, as he is no longer able to stand for long periods.

Francis felt unwell Wednesday following a general audience in St Peter’s Square, but his condition improved after he was given antibiotics.

The hospitalization was his second since 2021, when he underwent colon surgery, also at Gemelli.

His increasing health issues over the past year have sparked widespread concern, including speculation that he might choose to retire rather than stay in the job for life.

Francis marked 10 years as the head of the worldwide Catholic Church earlier this month.

He has pushed through major governance reforms and sought to forge a more open, compassionate Church, although he has faced internal opposition, particularly from conservatives.

He has repeatedly said he would consider stepping down were his health to fail him — but said last month that, for now, he has no plans to quit.

Francis’ previous stay at Gemelli in July 2021 lasted 10 days. He was admitted after suffering from a type of diverticulitis, an inflammation of pockets that develop in the lining of the intestine, that required surgery.

In an interview in January, the pope said the diverticulitis had returned.
