Return my virginity, good health, if you want dissolution – Wife tells husband

A 28-year-old woman, Toriola Suliat on Wednesday told her husband, Toriola Lateef, that she would only consent to his request for the dissolution of their marriage if he returns her virginity and good health, as she was two years ago before the union.

Suliat stated her conditions before an Iseyin Grade C Customary Court, where the husband had gone seeking for the dissolution of the marriage over “frequent public embarrassment.”

He told the Court that Suliat was in the habit of harassing him at his work place and social functions attended by his friends and relatives.

The husband said he had to move out of their matrimonial home due to the unbearable development.

Responding, Suliat said she was charmed by Toriola before she agreed to marry him.

“Ideally I will not marry this type of human being, if not for the charm he used on me.

“I was looking for charm to help my business grow and he told me that he will need to get some hairs from my private part and also make love to me, that was how I found myself married to him.

“When I got to his house, my business boomed and he also made lot of money too and we got it renewed twice but now my health is deteriorating and he now moved out of the house.

“He must look for a way to return my virginity and my health, before he can say he wants to leave me.”

Ruling on the matter, the President of the Court, Chief Raheem Adelodun, said the case would be put on hold until the health condition of Suliat improves.

He ordered the families of the estranged couple to seek urgent medical help for Suliat and update the Court every 15 days.

  • My husband deceived me into marrying him, woman tells court

The President of Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr Suleiman Apanpan, on Thursday dissolved an eight-year-old marriage between Aminat Olaniyi and Kassim Olaniyi over deception.

Apanpan held that the marriage was laid on a deceitful foundation and it was bound to crash with time.

He, however, advised lovers to make sincerity the watchword of their relationships.

The court granted the custody of the two children produced by the union to Aminat and directed Kassim to pay a monthly allowance of N8, 000 to Aminat for the children’s upkeep.

“Kassim will also be responsible for the children’s education and other welfare,”Apanpan said.

Aminat had in her petition said that her husband deceived her into marrying by lying to her about what he was not.

“Before I eventually married Kassim, he never informed me that he had any children and when I found out that he did, he only admitted to having just one child.

“However, I later discovered that he had three children as against one,’’ she said.

Aminat also said that Kassim was not taking good care of the family.

She said that whenever he was returning home from work, he would buy beans cake (akara) and pap for the family which would serve as their meal for the day.

“On few occasions that he gave us money, it was just N200 for the children and me.

“He was fond of giving untenable excuses for his irresponsibility, but he could afford to have three children out of wedlock,”Aminat told the court.

However, the respondent who opposed the petition by his wife failed to advance convincing evidence for his argument.

Kassim, who resides at Ogbere-Ti-Oya area of Ibadan said that he was taking good care of his family to the best of his ability.

“Aminat received the best medical treatments when she was delivered of our babies.’’

Kassim said his wife’s problem was that she was always going to places in search of jobs.

“I warned Aminat to stay with me, but she deserted me when I was ill,’’ he said.

He said that he had the children Aminat referred to as children-out-of-wedlock during the three years that she abandoned him.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Aminat resides at Ipaja-Ayobo area of Lagos State.

  • My wife is a burglar, husband tells court

Olatunde Akintunde, an Ibadan-based computer operator, on Tuesday consented to the divorce suit filed by his wife, Dasola, alleging that she was a burglar.

In his counter argument in the case, Olatunde stated that his wife broke into his shop to steal computer sets, photocopy machines, a generating set and a cooking stove.

“Dasola added nothing to the business I established for her as I was solely responsible for every item.

“When I abandoned my initial business, I decided to establish a computer centre in Ibadan.

“ I then invited Dasola to join me after she had learnt computer operation.

“One day, when I was away, she broke into the lock-up shop to steal the computers.

“Furthermore, Dasola’s mother never gave our marriage a breathing space because she kept telling her to leave me.

“Even when she gave birth, Dasola’s mother once took her away, abandoning the four month-old child to me for many hours.

“Sometimes, her mother doesn’t allow her to spend Christmas with me.

“If I dare complain, both of them would challenge my authority and even fight me.

“In fact, she had left for a whole year before although I still reluctantly accommodated her,” Olatunde stated.

But earlier in her petition, Dasola had submitted that her husband had often beat her.

“My lord, whenever Olatunde wants to beat me, he locks the door to give me the beating of my life.

“ He smashed a bucket on my forehead in the last incident.

“Olatunde’s younger brother even wanted to be sleeping with me and when I reported this to him, he threatened to send me packing.

“Aside this, Olatunde doesn’t want to see my mother and he is disrespectful to my relatives.

“Worst still, some of my belongings such as clothing, kitchen utensils, computer sets and few other things are still in his custody.

“I am frustrated with living with Olatunde, please separate us,” Dasola said.

Chief Ademola Odunade, the President of the court, however, asked both parties to furnish the court with the evidence that the items in question belonged to either of them.

Odunade adjourned the case till September 26 for judgment.

Dubious wife fakes own kidnap, demands N15m ransom from husband

The police in Lagos have arrested a woman, Hadijat Kabir, for allegedly faking her own kidnap to defraud her husband of N15 million.

The police said Mrs. Kabir and her suspected co-conspirators committed the act at Ado-Odo, Ota local government area of Ogun State where she was supposedly being held.

Edgar Imohimi, the state commissioner of police, said while the suspects were hiding in Ado-Odo, they made several calls to Muraino Kabir asking him to pay a ransom of N15 million to secure his wife’s freedom.

Mr Imohimi told reporters during a press briefing at the Lagos State police command headquarters, Ikeja, that Mrs Kabir confessed during interrogation that she planned the fake kidnap with the help of the other suspects.

“Prior to the arrest of Mrs Kabir and her team of conspirators, Alhaji Muraino Kabir filed a report at Ikotun police station that his wife, Hadijat Kabir, and his 18 year old daughter who has psychiatric issues, were kidnapped on their way to the psychiatric hospital at Oshodi Lagos,” he said.

He said based on the report of Mr. Kabir, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad began investigating the alleged crime and soon discovered that it was planned.

Speaking to reporters, Mrs Kabir corroborated the police chief’s story of what happened, adding that she did it because her husband did not give her money despite being rich.

“I kept myself in place, no one kidnapped me. I did it because I needed money, I asked my husband for a sum of ₦500,000 but he refused. He has different companies and many houses here in Lagos and he doesn’t give me money,” she said.

Mrs Kabir said despite being married to her husband for 27 years with four children between them, Mr Muraino was not taking good care of her.

One of the arrested suspects, Ahmed Kudus, said he did not take part in planning the fake kidnap but merely helped his brother, another suspect to make phone calls.

“I didn’t know Hadijat Kabir before, I met her when she came to meet my brother, Ahmed Lukman about five days ago. She mentioned that she wanted to take her child for treatment and I suggested a hospital but she said the situation of the child is beyond hospital matter and that she needed to go to an herbalist.

“Later, I heard my brother talking to someone on the phone demanding money, while Hadijat was crying in pretense. I helped by collecting the phone to tell the man to give them the money they asked for.”

Mr Imohimi added that investigation into the case was still ongoing as they police are still working to arrest other fleeing suspects.”
