Buhari to Babangida: Your services to Nigeria will always be remembered

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent warm felicitations to former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on his 79th birthday.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Babangida turns 79 on August 17 2020, and according to a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Buhari is joining family, friends and associates to celebrate with the elder statesman.

“As the former military leader turns a new age, the President believes his services to the country will always be remembered.

“President Buhari prayed that the Almighty God will continually strengthen Gen. Babangida and grant him good health and longer life,” the statement read.

  • I need a new wife, Babangida opens up

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, rtd, has announced that he is in search of a new wife.

Describing the kind of woman that will suit him at this stage of his life, IBB said he will not take a wife much younger than him because that will be a problem for the woman and for himself (IBB)

Speaking with The Sun, the former Head of State, however, expressed the fear that the new wife may not be able to live the way he lived with his late wife and former First Lady, Maryam.

Asaba Delta-born Maryam died on Sunday, December 27, 2009, succumbing to ovarian cancer at the University of California’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Los Angeles. She died at the age of 61.

IBB said, “Yes, I am quite sure. I’m searching and I’m hoping. But the longer I wait, maybe, the more problematic it becomes.

“If it drags, I would be too old and the whole idea of having a partner would seem to diminish. But I will make sure [I have a partner] before reaching that stage.

“If somebody is in the corner, you could organize that in three or six months.

“And because it must be somebody you have known for a long time, or somebody you have been in contact with for a long time, you don’t just tell them look this is for marriage.

“But as time passes, and relationship building continues, it could end up in marriage.

“However, I have to be fair in my search. I really want to be fair. For instance, you don’t expect me to take a wife much younger than I am because that will be a problem for her and for me.

“I have to be fair. Secondly, I do wonder if she (the chosen one) would be able to live the way Maryam and I did, which is not easy these days. So, I keep on praying; and I think it will happen.”

  • Rumoured death: Babangida alive, bubbling, says spokesperson

Contrary to rumours in the social media, former Nigeria’s military president, General Ibrahim Babangida is not dead.

Kasim Afegbua, spokesperson for the former military president said in a statement issued in reaction to rumours that the former military General has passed on.

Afegbua said contrary to the rumour, Babangida is alive and bubbling and is in his Minna residence attending to visitors as speculations that he has passed on rage in the social media.

    Read the full statement below:

    IBB IS ALIVE AND BUBBLING.

It has become consistent fake news for quite some time now wishing our own IBB, the one we easily refer to as “the last don” of Nigeria politics, dead. The “fake news bill” would be a suitable response to this category of fake news carrier. IBB is very much alive and bubbling. He just started attending to friends and associates who came to see him today, Sunday, 15th December, 2019 right here at his Minna Hilltop mansion. He is full of life and in his characteristic bubbling mood.

May Allah forgive those who wish IBB dead. God is the giver and taker of life, not humans. Death, as the irrevocable end of all creation, will surely come to everyone some day and at the appointed time and hour, but to deliberately spread fake news and wish someone dead, is to take humanity to another bizarre level. May Allah forgive them. IBB, by the special grace of Allah, the omniscient and omnipotent One, shall live to fulfill his journey and destiny in life, to the consternation of those who are always wishing him dead. This is about the third time this year.

We wish to thank those who took time to reach out to us, home and abroad, to find out the truth. We thank you all for your love, care and concern. May Allah grant us all good health, sound mind and long life. Amin.

  • IBB denies owning any Twitter handles

Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retired), former military president, has said that Twitter handles bearing his names and photographs were fake.

Zubairu, in the statement made available on Tuesday in Minna, revealed that the social media accounts were targeted at misleading unsuspecting members of the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to the existence of several Twitter handles purportedly owned by the former military president; members of the social media community should know that Babangida currently has no twitter handle.
“We wish to state that the twitter handles bearing the name and photographs of Babangida are fake, and also advise the general public to be wary of the fake accounts and discountenance whatever message conveyed therein,” the statement read.
