    Why I can’t quit smoking – Ice Prince

    Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani, who is better known as Ice Prince, has revealed that his knowledge of how to roll cannabis, made it difficult for him to give up smoking.

    He said he regrets learning how to roll cannabis, stressing that if he didn’t know, he would have been a moderate smoker or probably wouldn’t smoke at all.

    Speaking in a recent episode of the Konnected Minds podcast, Ice Prince said, “One of the things that I wish I could unlearn is how to roll cannabis. I wish I had never learned that because if I hadn’t learned it, I would probably smoke with a bit of moderation or not even smoke.

    “But because I know how to roll, I smoke whenever I wake or in the studio. I don’t let anyone roll cannabis for me. I don’t do drugs, I don’t mix cannabis with any crazy stuff. I wish I had never learn how to roll.”

    Feel Good” frontline hip hop rapper and singer Ice Prince has gone down memory lane, recalling the hardships he faced growing up as an orphan.

    Ice Prince Zamani, as he is fondly called sometimes, during a recent feature with Listen With Osi podcast, revealed that financial constraints hindered him from pursuing higher education.

    The ‘Oleku’ hitmaker further disclosed that turn after his life took a dramatic turn after he lost his father at 11 and his mother at 21.

    He said, “I don’t have a mother, I’m an only son and that’s quite tough. I’ve been that way since I was 11 years old when I lost my dad.

    “I was 21 or 22 when my mum passed away and I have a family that depends on me. I don’t have any uncles, aunties, Godfathers, or Godmothers that I can depend on. It’s been nothing but God in my life.”

    According to the 38-year-old, he had to take on different menial jobs, to support himself and make ends meet.

    He said despite his best efforts, he could not pursue a university education due to a lack of funds, specifically N20,000.

    “I just want people to look at my life and be like, ‘if this imperfect human can be somebody, I have no excuse to fail.’ I was the guy who would spend at least 3 weeks out of every school term at home because of school fees,” he said.

    “I didn’t go to university because of N20,000 which is like one spliff now. That’s the reason I didn’t go, because of N20,000.”I had two weeks to pay that money for registration and I couldn’t come up with it and that’s how I lost the admission and I became a studio rat from there.”

    Feel Good” frontliner, hip hop rapper and singer Ice Prince has opened up about his difficult experience at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos.

    Recall, the Ice Prince Zamani as he is fondly called sometimes, was remanded following allegations of assaulting a police officer.

    Speaking on the latest episode of the Listen podcast, Ice Prince described the experience of spending  six days at the facility as “horrible,’’ noting that he had no preferential treatment.

    “I didn’t get preferential treatment. It’s a prison, so there was no preferential treatment. I’m not talking about a police cell.

    “I’ve seen celebrities who come out of police cells bragging as if they went through some stuff, but if you’ve never been to prison, you haven’t seen it yet,” he said.

    The ‘Oleku’ singer however reflected on the friendship that was formed with fellow inmates, likening the experience to “a different institution of higher learning.”

    He said, “I made friends in there. We hung out and chatted. It’s a different world. I don’t pray for my worst enemy to experience it.”

    Popular Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince, has dismissed the claims of being in a romantic relationship with Nollywood actress cum media personality, Moet Abebe.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the media personality in a recent podcast co-hosted with BBNaija star, Tolanibaj, disclosed she have been in a romantic relationship with Ice Prince for 12 years.

    However, in an interview with The DateBizz, Ice Prince contradicted her claims, stating that finding love has been challenging for him.

    The rapper stated that he is currently single and hopes to get married before his 40th birthday.

    He said, “Recently, it’s been hard for me to get love. Not because I don’t want to, but my mind has not been in the right place for a relationship. And I don’t want to have a girl suffering with me. I needed time to put certain things together, especially my music and finances.

    I don’t go around with holes. If you see me with a woman, she’s probably someone that I so much respect, somebody that we have mutual understanding. Any woman that you see me with or having sex with is someone I respect.

    As to a committed relationship, I wouldn’t say that I’m in one right now. I should get married soon, hopefully. I don’t want to go past 40 years before getting married. So I’m searching.”

    Nigerian rapper, Panshak Henry Zamani popularly known as Ice Prince, has said he will never use a publicity gimmick to promote his songs.

    According to Ice Prince, one of his top concerns in life is to create wonderful music while praying to God to keep him away from people with “desperate ideas” for promoting his music.

    The rapper on Tuesday said on his X account, “I can never do some dumb sh*t so you can check out my music! My biggest prayer is that God keeps us away from dumbish.

    “May God keep us far away from people with desperate ideas… Nothing but music on this side !! I dey Rap, I dey sing and I dey come mc.”

    Nigerian singer and rapper, Ice Prince Zamani, has described the rivalry between Nigerians and South Africans on social media as a “family feud.”

    The artist claimed the two nations want nothing but the best for each other.

    He stated this while appearing in the latest episode of the Afrobeats Podcast hosted by British-Nigerian media personality, Adesope Olajide, AKA Shopsydoo.

    Ice Prince said, “I think the rivalry between Nigerians and South Africans is just brotherly love. You know how in a family, brothers always go at each other? I guess that’s what it is.

    “We are literally brothers. We’re from the same father and mother; Nigerians, South Africans, Ghanaians, Kenyans. As long as you are black, you are African. We’re one and the same.

    “So, the way brothers logged heads in the family, I guess that’s what it is. It’s not a real issue. South Africans want to see Nigerians do better. Nigerians want to see South Africans do better. I guess that is what it is. We are just pushing ourselves as long as it doesn’t get too far where the beef leads to some ugly stuff.

    “And so far, there’s not been any major beef. By God’s grace, there will never be. We are literally the same.”

    Freedom is priceless, says rapper Ice Prince released on bail

     

    Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince, has tweeted for the first time since his release from the Ikoyi correctional facility in Lagos for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

    The singer, whose real name is Panshak Zamani, was arrested by the Lagos police command on September 2.

    Ice Prince was also alleged to have abducted and threatened to throw the undisclosed officer into the river.

    He is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out its statutory duties, and abduction.

    The ‘Oleku’ crooner was released on bail from the correctional facility on September 8 — after spending about six nights in prison.

    He had been granted bail by the court in the sum of N500,000 and was asked to provide two sureties.

    The 35-year-old rapper, who had not spoken to the public about the matter since his release from prison, took to his Twitter page to acknowledge the significance of freedom in a short post.

    The rapper’s trial was initially billed to start on September 7 at the magistrate court sitting in the Ajah area of Lagos.

    The court, however, adjourned the case till October 24 after the prosecution counsel said his witnesses did not show up.

    Ice Prince started to enjoy fame in 2011 after he released ‘Oleku’, a hit song off ‘Everybody Loves Ice Prince’, his debut studio album.

    The rapper has continued to drop hit songs and also collaborated with other music heavyweights across Africa.

    Nigerian rap artiste, Panshak Henry Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince Zamani, has regained his freedom weeks after being imprisoned for assaulting a police officer.

    Ice Prince was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly abducting an officer when he was stopped at about 3 am for driving without license plates.

    Although Ice Prince pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him at the Magistrate Court in Ajah, Lagos State, the magistrate ruled that he should be remanded.

    However, Magistrate Taiwo Oyaniyi has now granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 and demanded the provision of two sureties.

    Ice Prince was released after fulfilling his bail conditions on Thursday.

    The Jos-born artiste immediately took to Twitter to announce his release

    Ice Prince tweet reads, “Freedom is priceless.”

    Ice Prince Zamani or just ‘Ice Prince, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist and actor. He rose to fame after releasing “Oleku”, one of Nigeria’s most remixed songs of all time. He won the 2009 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour.

    Following the incarceration of Nigerian rap artist, Panshak Henry Zamani, better known as Ice Prince Zamani, for assaulting a police officer, music icon, 2Face Idibia, has wondered if it is a crime to be a young person in the country.

     

    He, however, appealed for the release of Ice Prince, who is currently in Ikoyi prison for assaulting a police officer.

     

    It would be recalled that the singer was earlier arrested for assaulting and threatening police after being flagged for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

     

    Following his arraignment, 2Face emphasized the protests against the government which he stated to also be in the favor of the police while calling for the singer’s release.

     

    In his words: “Has it become a crime to be a young person in this country??? Every protest and struggle is also for u to have better pay and equipment and proper retirement benefits,” he wrote in an Instastory post.

     

    TheNewsGuru.com recalls that the Lagos State Police Command on Friday arraigned Ice Prince, for assaulting and abducting a policeman in the Lekki area of the state.

     

    The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a tweet, said the music artiste was driving to a destination in the state when the police patrol team in the area stopped him around 3am for driving without license plates.

     

    The policemen were said to have insisted that Ice Prince should visit the station and after agreeing, one of the policemen entered the vehicle.

     

    Hundeyin, in a tweet, said, the artiste, thereafter, abducted the policeman, assaulted and threatened to throw him in the river, adding that Ice Prince was later arrested.

     

    The PPRO said, “At 3am today, @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station.

     

    “He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”

     

    “He (Ice Prince) is facing three-count bordering on assault, obstruction and abduction. He has been arraigned,” Hundeyin stated.

    Nigerian hip-hop artist, Panshak Henry Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince Zamani or just Ice Prince, has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Ice Prince was remanded at the Ikoyi prison after he was arraigned at a magistrate court in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

    IcePrince was arrested earlier today for allegedly assaulting an officer and threatening to throw him in the river after he was arrested for driving without plate numbers.

    The Lagos State Police Command arraigned the singer on a three-count charge of assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out his statutory duties and abduction. When the counts were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

    Magistrate Taiwo Oyaniyi subsequently granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 and is also to provide the court with two responsible sureties.

    The Magistrate ordered that the rapper be remanded in the correctional centre until he fulfils his bail condition. He then adjourned further proceedings in the case till September 7.

    Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin has disclosed that there is video evidence against Ice Prince. Hundeyin said it will be presented to the presiding magistrate as part of evidence.
