    JUST IN: Immigration officer shoots self, as police impose 24 hours curfew In Borno

    An immigration officer accidentally shot himself thrice on the foot while blocking protesters in Maiduguri the Borno state capital.

    The incident happened on Thursday in Bulunkutu area of Maiduguri

    It was learnt that the Immigration officer was part of the security team deployed to disperse crowd of protesters in the state capital, Maiduguri.

    The officer, whose identity has not been disclosed was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and his condition is currently in trouble

    One of the protesters told Newsman that the sound of the gunshots further provoked the protesters who went wild with the thought that one of them was shot but became calm on discovering that it was an immigration personnel that was shot.

    Some of the protesters were demonstrating against the government’s handling of the ongoing insurgency in the region, urged federal government to bring back the fuel subsidy

    Meanwhile the state police Command has declared twenty four hours curfew,  in order to maintain law and order.

    A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso says the decision is Inline with the constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force towards the restoration of law order, noting that the state Governor Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum in consultation with heads of security in the state.

    The PPRO also confirms the detonation of an improvised explosive device in Kawori, Konduga local government area of the state.

  • Unknown gunmen kidnap immigration officer, children in Abuja

    Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamu Suleiman, and his two children, Abdullahi and Balkisu, in Naharati community in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.

    A resident of Naharati said the incident happened early in the morning on Thursday after the gunmen in their large numbers, with sophisticated weapons, invaded the officer’s home.

    He said some of the gunmen scaled the fence of the victims’ house while others stood outside, while carrying out the act. He added that the wife of the officer was prevented from coming out of her room as one of the gunmen stood in front of her door until they whisked the husband and children away.

    As at the time this report was filed spokesman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah was unreachable.
