BREAKING: Nigeria opposition parties call for impeachment of Buhari, Lawan, Gbajabiamila

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has urged the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari.

The spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere made the call on Wednesday at a press conference.

He alleged that the President had abused his office, grossly misconducted himself and failed to protect the lives and property of Nigerian citizens.

Ugochinyere said life was now so cheap in Nigeria that leaders “do not even show empathy anymore”.

The CUPP said people are becoming unfeeling since wanton killings have become the order of the day and every new death is taken for granted.

The parties called on opposition lawmakers to work “in alliance with patriotic members who are imprisoned in the APC and seeking liberation to commence action and impeach the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila immediately”.

The CUPP alleged that both leaders of the chambers of the National Assembly have failed to guide their colleagues to act as checks and balances on the Executive.

“They do not have respect again as several members of the Executive ignore them even when they are officially summoned.

“Lawmakers are no longer respected and are ignored even when they officially summon officials of the Executive because they are daily moving form office to office begging, blackmailing and grabbing anything and everything they can grab.”

Ugochinyere announced that the CUPP has filed a suit at the Federal High Court to seek an order of mandamus to compel the National Assembly to perform its constitutional duty by investigating the several allegations of gross misconduct against Buhari.

BREAKING: Court stops House of Assembly from impeaching Zamfara Deputy Governor

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, restrained the Zamfara House of Assembly from impeaching the Deputy Governor of the state, Mahdi Gusau.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order while delivering a ruling in an ex-parte motion with suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/650/2021 brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through its Lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, SAN.

Egwuatu, who ordered the defendants to maintain status quo pending the heating and determination of the motion on notice, also stopped the house from impeaching its other members who are still in the PDP.

He directed the plaintiff to serve all the defendants in the suit before Friday and adjourned the matter until July 23 for hearing of the motion on notice.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC, Senate President, Speaker of House of Representatives, Speaker of Zamfara House of Assembly, Governor Matawalle and Chief Judge of Zamfara are 1st to 7th defendants respectively.

Recall that though Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), his deputy, Gusau, did not.

The lawmakers in the state had threatened to impeach Gusau over activities they considered to be a threat to the security in the state which they claimed he was involved in.

The PDP, through its lawyer, had urged the court to grant its prayer in the interest of justice.

The party said the court had the inherent power to grant the order.

“This is the only place we can run to, especially in a situation of chaos the state has found itself.

Trump seeks revenge on Republican impeachment voter with Ohio rally

Former President Donald Trump spoke at his first Make America Great Again (MAGA) rally since he left office in January – and as in his other post-presidency appearances, he kept up the lie that he was the actual winner of the 2020 election.

Trump carried on his complaining about Republicans who are not in his corner.

And when Hillary Clinton’s name came up, the crowd yelled: “Lock her up!”

The main purpose of what Trump promised would be a “really big” rally in the Cleveland area was to slam an Ohio Republican congressman, Representative Anthony Gonzalez, who was one of 10 House Republicans to vote for his impeachment.

“Every single Republican needs to vote him out of office,” Trump said of Gonzalez.

He called to the dais his chosen candidate for the race, Max Miller, who was an aide to Trump in his 2016 campaign and in the White House.

Recalling his loss to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, Trump maintained the lie that he had really won – even though the election by historical standards was not a close one.

“On the evening of Nov. 3 the election was over and then all of a sudden things started closing down all over,” Trump said of election night.

“We took a massive victory, they did, into something that should never be allowed,” he added.

In fact, millions of legitimate votes were counted long after Election Day. None of the lawsuits Trump supporters pursued in hope of overturning the election got any traction in state and federal courts.

Before the rally, the ex-president made clear his plans to take revenge on Gonzalez for voting to impeach.

“Fake Republicans, anybody that voted for the impeachment doesn’t get it,” he said Friday on the far right-wing Newsmax television network.

“But there weren’t too many of them. And I think most of them are being, if not all, are being primaried right now, so that’s good. I’ll be helping their opponent[s].”

Trump is also seeking to play a kingmaker role in the race to replace retiring Senator Rob Portman, R-Ohio, an establishment conservative. Several GOP candidates are seeking his endorsement.

After the Ohio rally, he plans to speak in south Florida over the July 4 holiday weekend and will journey to the southern border next week.

VIDEO: Sheikh Gumi calls for Buhari’s removal in regurgitated viral video

A viral video of Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi of him calling for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari has resurfaced on the Internet.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Sheikh Gumi called for the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari whom he said had performed worse than the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan in every area.

“Why I blamed Jonathan with blood in his hands was because Boko Haram insurgents were putting bombs everywhere, and the government was not doing enough.

“Anybody killed under your regime, you are responsible for that blood. If you have done your best, I can say yes, Allah can forgive you. But if you are relaxed, Allah will not forgive you.

“So, it is the same thing now. The bloodshed now is more than combined together the bloodshed during Jonathan’s regime.

“During Jonathan’s time when the blood is flowing too much: mosques and churches and streets, I said, let him resign because I could see he could not handle the blood flow.

“I said resign with immediate effect because you cannot handle the killings. That is why I called for his resignation. And everybody published in papers in English, is that possible today?

“Now, more blood is shed from negligence, from sleeping, from laziness, from I don’t care. I don’t care I mean, while people are dying, governors and the president are attending ceremonies.

“It is either, if I am true to myself, as I called for the resignation of Jonathan, if I am true to myself, I should call for the resignation of President Buhari, and with immediate effect,” Sheikh Gumi said.

A State High Court sitting in Owerri the Imo capital has nullified the impeachment of former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Jude Agbaso.

Mr. Agbaso was impeached on March 28, 2013, during the Rochas Okorocha led administration.

Delivering the judgment on Monday, the presiding judge Justice S.I Opara said the process that led to the impeachment of the former deputy governor was unconstitutional, null, and void as due process was not followed.

Justice Opara added that the defendant was not giving a fair hearing on the matter before the impeachment was done.

While noting that in the eyes of the law the impeachment never occurred, the court however ordered the Imo state government to pay all entitlements and emoluments accrued to the former Deputy Governor from March 28, 2013, the date of impeachment till May 28, 2015, when his tenure as deputy governor was supposed to end.

Reacting to the judgment the counsel to Former deputy governor, Barrister Chijioke Emeka says the landmark judgement is a triumph of the rule of law and once again the development has shown that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.

He noted that the impeachment case is the longest in the history of the country as the case which started on April 30, 2013, ended after 8 years.

The former Deputy Governor Mr. Jude Agbaso who also reacted to the judgement said he feels elated that finally justice has been served as justice delayed is never justice denied.
