[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Put God in rememebrance of his Words

    Read: ROMANS 10:5-13

    Meditation verse:

“Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together;state your case, that you may  be acquitted” (Isaiah 43:26).

When God says you should remind Him of His promises, it is not because He has  forgotten. He remembers exactly what He has said to you. It is for your benefit.  When you remind God of His word in the place of prayer, you are telling Him  that you are standing on His promises and your faith is built up. Why not put  God in remembrance of His word today. Say “lord, You said:”

That “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 5:21) That “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) That “You will supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ  Jesus” (Philippians 4:19)

That “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus” (1 Peter 2:24)

That “I am created in the image of God” (Genesis 1:26)

That “I have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

That “You will cause all grace to abound towards me; that I have all sufficiency  always in all things, will abound towards every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8) That “I am free from condemnation” (Romans 8:1)

That “I have authority over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19)

That “You will satisfy me with long life” (Psalm 91:16)

That “You will preserve my going out and coming in” (Psalm 121:6) That “no evil will befall me, and no plague will come near my dwelling place”  (Psalm 91:10)

“That “You have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound  mind” (2 timothy 1:7)

That “You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all I could ask or think or  imagine, according to the power that works in me” (Ephesians 3:20)

So, Lord as I put you in remembrance of Your word, I will have what I say, “For  all Your promises are Yes, and Amen in Christ” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: It has to be homegrown

    Read: 2 CORINTHIANS 4:17-18

    Meditation verse:

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment is working for us a  far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”. (2 Corinthians 4:17).

The things that are happening to you though challenging are working  in you a perfect work. They are growing in you a wisdom that is so rich, deep and original. This is the kind of wisdom that comes from  triumphing over affliction. It cannot be taught or learned in the best  business schools in the world. This is the type of wisdom needed to  achieve what you were created for.

Joseph had dreams of greatness. But he had to go through the betrayal  of his brothers, accusation of Potiphar’s wife, and time in prison. When it was time to step into the leadership role as Prime Minister of  Egypt, he was fully equipped for the task. His wisdom had become  home grown.

David spent time rearing sheep even after he had been  anointed king by Samuel. Within that period, he learnt how to protect  his flock. He went after a lion and a bear that came after his flock,  striking and killing them. He faced Goliath and killed him. By the time  it was time to ascend the throne as king, he had gained enough  experience to led God’s people. His wisdom had become home grown.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a  far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look  at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For  the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not  seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

What are you currently  going through? They just might be stepping stones to your destiny.  Through it all the Almighty is ordering your steps. Let God perfect the  great work He has begun in you. Your wisdom must be home grown.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Lay aside the weight

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Lay aside the weight

    Read: HEBREWS 12:1-2

    Meditation verse:

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 PETER 5:7)

I had been feeling weighed down by a particular concern that had to do with a  close family member and it was beginning to wear me out emotionally and  physically. On this morning, my eyes fell on the above scripture, and it was like  a heavy burden was lifted of my shoulders. I sensed God saying to me that I was  carrying a weight that was not mine to carry, and I needed to cast it down at His  feet

1 Corinthians 6:20 says, for you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in  your body and in your spirit, which are God’s”. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have  been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and  the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved  me and gave Himself for me”. If you are in Christ, your life is no longer your own.  You were bought with a very costly price; the blood of Jesus and you now have  a Master. Your Master, Jesus Christ is now in charge of your life and everything  that concerns you. You are meant to hand over every weight to your owner.

Coloissians 3:3-4 says, “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory”.  For anything to get to you, it has to get through God. Is this possible? Quit  fretting and lay aside the weight. It is not yours to carry. “Therefore we also,  since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every  weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance  the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our  faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the  shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1- 2).

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Who do you become after the storm?

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Who do you become after the storm?

    Read: 2 CORINTHIANS 4:17-18

    Meditation verse:

“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small” (Proverbs 24:10).

Storms, trials, failures, tribulations, heartaches and difficulties are all part of  human existence. In John 16:33, Jesus said to His disciples, “These things I have  spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have  tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. Things may not  always work out as you desire. People will betray you and leave you heartbroken  by their actions. You may encounter obstacles and hardships as you navigate  life. The big question is “who do you become after the storm? Do you emerge  stronger, wiser and better or weaker, bitter and vengeful?

Let’s look at some biblical examples. Betrayed by his brothers and sold into  slavery, Joseph had every reason to be angry and vengeful, but when he had the  opportunity to avenge their wickedness, he chose the path of mercy, forgiveness  and love. (Genesis 50:20). Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into  a fiery furnace for failing to bow to the king’s idol. When they came out, the.  bible records that the smell of smoke was not on them. In order words, they did  not look like what they had gone through. (Daniel 3:27). Beaten, scourged,  mocked and nailed to a cross, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ prayed “Father  forgive them, for they do not know what they do”.

You have no control over how others treat you, but you can control your  reaction to their actions. Refuse to allow their actions change who you are and  the values you hold dear. That amounts to giving them control over your life.  Choose the path of forgiveness and say like Joseph “you meant it for evil, but  God turned it around for good. “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by  so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so  easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was  set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the  right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility  from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your  souls” (Hebrews 12:1-3).

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Maintain good works

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Maintain good works

    Read: TITUS 3:8-14

    Meditation verse:

“And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs,  that they may not be unfruitful” (Titus 3:14).

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that  not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”.  Your salvation does not depend on your good works. But your salvation should  produce a deep yearning for good works. “For we are His workmanship, created  in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should  walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). In order not to become unfruitful in your  Christian race, you must be intentional about maintaining good works.

Here are some examples to get you started.

James 1:27 says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this:  to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from  the world”. Mathew 25:35-40 says, “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I  was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was  naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and  you came to Me.’“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did  we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we  see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we  see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say  to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of  these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ John 13:35 says, “By this all will know that  you are My disciples, if you have love for one another”.

Start being intentional about loving and serving others. Reach out to the poor.  Visit the widows in their distress. Provide for the hungry. Give to those in need.  Visit the sick and afflicted. Be concerned about those in need. These acts of  kindness may not come naturally to us, hence the command to be careful to  maintain good works. When last did you reach out to someone in need? “This is  a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those  who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things  are good and profitable to men” (Titus 3:8)

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: The totality of God’s Word

    Read: 2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17

    Meditation verse:

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged  sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints  and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”  (Hebrews 4:12)

God’s word is powerful and can transform every area of your life. 2 Timothy  3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for  doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the  man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work”. There  is a word that speaks to every situation you are going through.

Are you confused and seeking clarity? Do you need a business idea? Do you  desire wisdom for daily living? Do you need a sense of direction in life? Would  you like to understand your life’s purpose? Do you need help with childrearing?  Would you like to know how to be a better spouse? Are you afraid and need a  sense of peace? Are you stuck in life and need direction? Do you need to  strengthen your leadership skills? Are you interested in knowing how to build a  team? Do you desire a closer fellowship with God? Do you need to understand  how to relate better with people? In whatever area of life, you need help, the  bible has answers to help.

Psalm 119:105 says “Your word is a lamp to my feet. And a light to my path”.  Psalm 119:130 says, “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives  understanding to the simple. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom;  From His mouth come knowledge and understanding”. Joshua 1:8 says, “This  Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it  day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good  success”.

So make meditating on God’s word a priority each day and you will have good  success in every area of your life.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Change your wineskin

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Change your wineskin

    Read: Mathew 9:16-17

    Meditation verse:

“Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the  wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new  wineskins, and both are preserved.” (Mathew 9:17)

In today’s reading, Jesus told His disciples that new wine cannot be poured into  old wine skin, else the wine skin will break and the wine will be spilled. He said  new wine must be poured into new wine skin. . New one is fresh and strong. Old  wine skin is worn out, weak and outdated. It cannot contain the strength of the  new wine. If new wine is poured into old wine skins, the old wine skin will stretch  and burst, resulting in a monumental loss of both the wine and the wine skin

We can gain natural insights from this spiritual and scriptural insight. Old wine  skins can be likened to old mindsets, thought patterns, perspectives, habits,  relationships, associations, methods and ways of doing things. New wine on the  other hand can be said to represent promotion, enlargement, increase and new  levels in various dimensions of the physical and spiritual realms. It is impossible  to attain a new level or height in life with old ways of doing things. Someone  said “insanity is doing the same things and expecting a different result. To get a  different or new result, you must do something new or different.

In Isaiah 43:18-19, before God promised the childen of Israel a new thing, He  instructed them to forget the old. ““Do not remember the former things, nor  consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the  desert”. In Isaiah 54: 1-3, God’s instruction to the barren was “enlarge the place  of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not  spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to  the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make  the desolate cities inhabited”. Before the promised expansion, they were to do  away with the old measurements of their tent.

God is always ready to bless, increase and enlarge the coast of His children. But  we limit Him by clinging to the old. Is there an area of your life that you desire  new wine? What old wineskin do you need to discard? Do not be like the  children of Israel who spent forty years in the wilderness on their way to the  promised land because they refused to let go of their old mindsets.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Our “In Him” realities

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Our “In Him” realities

    Read: Colossians 1:12-15

    Meditation verse:

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,  according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

Colossians 1:12-15 says “giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be  partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from  the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,  in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” In  Christ, we are partakers of many benefits, known as our “in Him realities”.

    • In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
    • He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be  holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4)
    • In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according  to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of  His will (Ephesians 1:11)
    • We are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power  (Colossians 2:10)
    • For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory  of God through us (2 coirinthians 1:20)
    • He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the  righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)
    • The love of God is perfected in us. By this we know that we are in Him (1  John 2:5)
    • He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin (1  John 3:5)
    • And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an  understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him  who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life (1  John 5:20)
    • Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything  according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us,  whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked  of Him (1 John 5:14-15)

What a priviledge. Therefore, let us walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him,  being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God  (Colossians 1:10)

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Don’t let your pain distort your identity

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Don’t let your pain distort your identity

    Read: Jeremiah 1:4-5

    Meditation verse:

“But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty  has dealt very bitterly with me” (Ruth 1:20).

Many people are operating from a place of pain. They have allowed the things  they have passed through a life to change them. They have assumed an identity  that is alien to who God created them to be. God created and shaped you  specifically for the assignment He wants you to fulfil. God said to Jeremiah  “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified  you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” You were designed to fit the  demands of your purpose.

However, some people have allowed the hurt and pain inflicted on them to  change them. Many have become distorted and out of sync from who they were  created to be. Others are stuck, chained to their pain, still yet, many are wearing  their hurts like a heavy garment and are bent over. When you allow your pain  to change you, you become unfit for your original assignment. Your identity is  distorted, your shape is now different and unsuitable for your assignment. This  is the reason some of us feel stuck, restless and unable to move forward. You  cannot run with your purpose if you are chained to your pain. You cannot  flourish if you are operating from the pressure and pain. Your focus flows from  your heart. If your heart is heavy with pain, your focus will be foggy, and your  perception distorted.

Who hurt you? What events do you keep replaying in your mind that is  preventing you from. Moving forward? What do you need to let go? You need

to forgive, free your heart and move on, else you’d just keep surviving instead  of thriving. Lay your pain at the feet of Jesus. Cast your cares upon Him; for He  cares for you. Stop carrying the pains of yesterday. You were not designed to  carry them. Jesus Christ is your burden bearer and chief high priest. Stop  pretending that everything is okay, start confessing that you need help. Healing  starts with admitting your vulnerability.

Ask the Lord to heal your heart, clear the fog and renew your mind. Ask Him to  realign and refocus your life. Ask Him to reset and return you to your default  shape. Ask Him to move you from your current distortion to your destiny.

  • [Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Walk through the door

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Walk through the door

    Read: Romans 8:1-17

    Meditation verse:

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of  sin and death” (Romans 8:2).

Jesus Christ opened the gates over 2000 years ago. By His death on the cross,  burial and ressurection, He opened the portal to a life of abundance; free of sin,  sickness, lack and eternal death. However, the devill does not want you to know this. He laughs when he sees you fearful and shut in behind an open door. His  desire is that you are tormented, afraid, and shut in your past. Understand this  today, the door is open and there is nothing preventing you from walking  through; not your past failure nor guilt. You are free to walk through the door.

You are not imprisoned, you are empowered. Take control of your  circumstances and walk through the door. You can get out by His power without  hesitation. The snare has been broken and you are free. Hosea 4:6 says “My  people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. It is the knowledge of your liberty  that the devil tries to steal from you. He knows that he cannot take away your  freedom or the power to be free, so he tries to steal that knowledge from you  or to manipulate you into thinking that you are still imprisoned. Understand this  today; over two thousand years ago, Jesus unlocked the door by His death, burial  ans ressurection. You became a partaker of this freedom when you surrendered  your life to him. Meditate on this truth and let it take root in your mind for the  battle is always first lost in the mind, but “faith comes by hearing, and hearing  by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

Romans 8:1-2 says “there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are  in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the  Spirit. for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the  law of sin and death. Arise this day and rejoice in the Lord. Bask in knowledge of  your freedom. Walk through that door that is trying to limit you. You are free.
