  • Arsenal target Perisic hands in transfer request to leave Inter

    Arsenal target Ivan Perisic has handed in a transfer request to Inter Milan, according to the club’s director Giuseppe Marotta.

    The winger, 29, was an unused substitute in his side’s 1-0 Serie A defeat at Torino on Sunday.

    Before the game, Marotta told Sky Sports Italia: “Perisic has asked to leave but there is no offer for him. We will see in the coming days.”

    Premier League side Arsenal want to sign the Croatian on loan.

    “Many players ask for a transfer,” added Marotta. “Perisic has expressed this desire, we must try to satisfy him, respecting the asset value that the player has for the club.”

    Arsenal want to loan Perisic for the rest of the season, with an option to buy him in the summer for £35m.Ivan Perisic

    Serie A: Inter Milan suspends Radja Nainggolan

    Inter Milan midfielder Radja Nainggolan has been suspended by the Italian club for “disciplinary reasons”.

    According to BBC, the decision was taken after the former Belgium international was late for training and not for the first time.

    The 30-year-old has also been fined a substantial sum of money.

    Nainggolan joined Inter from Roma in a £33m swap deal in the summer and has scored three goals in 15 matches for Luciano Spalletti’s third-placed side.

    He will miss the Serie A game against Napoli, who are second, at the San Siro on 26 December.

    Nainggolan was dropped for a Roma match at the start of 2018 over a New Year’s Eve video in which he drank, smoked and cursed.

    He retired from international football after failing to get in Belgium’s World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in Russia.

    Lionel Messi is in Barcelona’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League match at Inter Milan despite fracturing his arm two weeks ago.

    The Argentine is a surprise inclusion though his name is marked with an asterisk saying “the player travels without the medical all-clear”.

    He was initially ruled out for around three weeks after suffering the injury during a 4-2 win over Sevilla.

    Messi has missed the 5-1 win over Real Madrid and a 2-0 victory over Inter.

    The forward returned to training last week but was not expected to feature for Barcelona for at least another week.

    Coach Ernesto Valverde said on Friday he had not ruled Messi out of playing but was concerned about rushing him back.

    Barcelona are currently top of Group B after winning all of their games in the Champions League, while opponents Inter sit in second – their only defeat coming against the Spanish side.

    Inter Milan contact Madrid for World Cup MVP

    Inter Milan have made contact with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric’s agents over a move, according to Sky in Italy.

    Modric is understood to be open to the move after initial discussions took place with the midfielder’s representatives.

    The 32-year-old played in 43 games for Real last season, which culminated in their third straight Champions League title, and Modric has since captained his country to the World Cup final in Russia, winning the Golden Ball award for best player.

    Inter, who are actively pursuing midfield targets as a priority, will compete in the Champions League for the first time in six years this season after a final day victory over Lazio.

    The Serie A club, managed by Luciano Spalletti, are believed to have lined up Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal if they cannot sign Modric.

    Modric’s countrymen Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Sime Vrsaljko, who joined from Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, are already at the San Siro.
